Apocalisse 16

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E udii dal tempio una voce potente che diceva ai sette angeli: «Andate e versate sulla terra le sette coppe dell’ira di Dio».	1 Then I heard a loud voice from the sanctuary cal ing to the seven angels, 'Go, and empty the sevenbowls of God's anger over the earth.'
2 Partì il primo angelo e versò la sua coppa sopra la terra; e si formò una piaga cattiva e maligna sugli uomini che recavano il marchio della bestia e si prostravano davanti alla sua statua.	2 The first angel went and emptied his bowl over the earth; at once, on al the people who had beenbranded with the mark of the beast and had worshipped its statue, there came disgusting and virulent sores.
3 Il secondo angelo versò la sua coppa nel mare; e si formò del sangue come quello di un morto e morì ogni essere vivente che si trovava nel mare.	3 The second angel emptied his bowl over the sea, and it turned to blood, like the blood of a corpse, andevery living creature in the sea died.
4 Il terzo angelo versò la sua coppa nei fiumi e nelle sorgenti delle acque, e diventarono sangue.	4 The third angel emptied his bowl into the rivers and springs of water and they turned into blood.
5 Allora udii l’angelo delle acque che diceva: «Sei giusto, tu che sei e che eri, tu, il Santo, perché così hai giudicato.	5 Then I heard the angel of water say, 'You are the Upright One, He who is, He who was, the Holy One,for giving this verdict:
6 Essi hanno versato il sangue di santi e di profeti; tu hai dato loro sangue da bere: ne sono degni!».	6 they spilt the blood of the saints and the prophets, and blood is what you have given them to drink; it iswhat they deserve.'
7 E dall’altare udii una voce che diceva: «Sì, Signore Dio onnipotente, veri e giusti sono i tuoi giudizi!».	7 And I heard the altar itself say, 'Truly, Lord God Almighty, the punishments you give are true and just.'
8 Il quarto angelo versò la sua coppa sul sole e gli fu concesso di bruciare gli uomini con il fuoco.	8 The fourth angel emptied his bowl over the sun and it was made to scorch people with its flames;
9 E gli uomini bruciarono per il terribile calore e bestemmiarono il nome di Dio che ha in suo potere tali flagelli, invece di pentirsi per rendergli gloria.	9 but though people were scorched by the fierce heat of it, they cursed the name of God who had thepower to cause such plagues, and they would not repent and glorify him.
10 Il quinto angelo versò la sua coppa sul trono della bestia; e il suo regno fu avvolto dalle tenebre. Gli uomini si mordevano la lingua per il dolore	10 The fifth angel emptied his bowl over the throne of the beast and its whole empire was plunged intodarkness. People were biting their tongues for pain,
11 e bestemmiarono il Dio del cielo a causa dei loro dolori e delle loro piaghe, invece di pentirsi delle loro azioni.	11 but instead of repenting for what they had done, they cursed the God of heaven because of theirpains and sores.
12 Il sesto angelo versò la sua coppa sopra il grande fiume Eufrate e le sue acque furono prosciugate per preparare il passaggio ai re dell’oriente.	12 The sixth angel emptied his bowl over the great river Euphrates; al the water dried up so that a waywas made for the kings of the East to come in.
13 Poi dalla bocca del drago e dalla bocca della bestia e dalla bocca del falso profeta vidi uscire tre spiriti impuri, simili a rane:	13 Then from the jaws of dragon and beast and false prophet I saw three foul spirits come; they lookedlike frogs
14 sono infatti spiriti di demòni che operano prodigi e vanno a radunare i re di tutta la terra per la guerra del grande giorno di Dio, l’Onnipotente.	14 and in fact were demon spirits, able to work miracles, going out to al the kings of the world to callthem together for the war of the Great Day of God the Almighty.-
15 Ecco, io vengo come un ladro. Beato chi è vigilante e custodisce le sue vesti per non andare nudo e lasciar vedere le sue vergogne.	15 Look, I shall come like a thief. Blessed is anyone who has kept watch, and has kept his clothes on,so that he does not go out naked and expose his shame.-
16 E i tre spiriti radunarono i re nel luogo che in ebraico si chiama Armaghedòn.	16 They cal ed the kings together at the place cal ed, in Hebrew, Armageddon.
17 Il settimo angelo versò la sua coppa nell’aria; e dal tempio, dalla parte del trono, uscì una voce potente che diceva: «È cosa fatta!».	17 The seventh angel emptied his bowl into the air, and a great voice boomed out from the sanctuary,'The end has come.'
18 Ne seguirono folgori, voci e tuoni e un grande terremoto, di cui non vi era mai stato l’uguale da quando gli uomini vivono sulla terra.	18 Then there were flashes of lightning and peals of thunder and a violent earthquake, unparalleledsince humanity first came into existence.
19 La grande città si squarciò in tre parti e crollarono le città delle nazioni. Dio si ricordò di Babilonia la grande, per darle da bere la coppa di vino della sua ira ardente.	19 The Great City was split into three parts and the cities of the world col apsed; Babylon the Great wasnot forgotten: God made her drink the ful winecup of his retribution.
20 Ogni isola scomparve e i monti si dileguarono.	20 Every island vanished and the mountains disappeared;
21 Enormi chicchi di grandine, pesanti come talenti, caddero dal cielo sopra gli uomini, e gli uomini bestemmiarono Dio a causa del flagello della grandine, poiché davvero era un grande flagello.	21 and hail, with great hailstones weighing a talent each, fel from the sky on the people. They cursedGod for sending a plague of hail; it was the most terrible plague.
