Deuteronomio 32

1 «Udite, o cieli: io voglio parlare. Ascolti la terra le parole della mia bocca!	1 “Listen, O heavens, to what I am saying. Let the earth hear the words of my mouth.
2 Scorra come pioggia la mia dottrina, stilli come rugiada il mio dire; come pioggia leggera sul verde, come scroscio sull'erba.	2 Let my doctrine accumulate like the rain. Let my eloquence form like the dew, like a mist upon the plants, and like water droplets upon the grass.
3 Voglio proclamare il nome del Signore: magnificate il nostro Dio!	3 For I will invoke the name of the Lord. Acknowledge the magnificence of our God!
4 Egli è la Roccia: perfette le sue opere, giustizia tutte le sue vie; è un Dio fedele e senza malizia, egli è giusto e retto.	4 The works of God are perfect, and all his ways are judgments. God is faithful and without any iniquity. He is just and upright.
5 Prevaricano contro di lui: non sono suoi figli, per le loro macchie, generazione tortuosa e perversa.	5 They have sinned against him, and in their filth they are not his sons. They are a depraved and perverse generation.
6 Così tu ripaghi il Signore, popolo stolto e privo di saggezza? Non è lui il padre che ti ha creato, che ti ha fatto e ti ha costituito?	6 How can this be the return you would offer to the Lord, O foolish and senseless people? Is he himself not your Father, who has possessed you, and made you, and created you?
7 Ricorda i giorni del tempo antico, medita gli anni lontani. Interroga tuo padre e te lo racconterà, i tuoi vecchi e te lo diranno.	7 Remember the days of antiquity. Consider each generation. Question your father, and he will declare it to you. Question your elders, and they will tell it to you.
8 Quando l’Altissimo divideva le nazioni, quando separava i figli dell’uomo, egli stabilì i confini dei popoli secondo il numero dei figli d’Israele.	8 When the Most High divided the nations, when he separated the sons of Adam, he appointed the limits of the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel.
9 Perché porzione del Signore è il suo popolo, Giacobbe sua parte di eredità.	9 But the Lord’s portion is his people: Jacob, the lot of his inheritance.
10 Egli lo trovò in una terra deserta, in una landa di ululati solitari. Lo circondò, lo allevò, lo custodì come la pupilla del suo occhio.	10 He discovered him in a desert land, in a place of horror and a vast wilderness. He led him around and taught him, and he guarded him like the pupil of his eye,
11 Come un’aquila che veglia la sua nidiata, che vola sopra i suoi nati, egli spiegò le ali e lo prese, lo sollevò sulle sue ali.	11 just as an eagle encourages its young to fly, and, flying above them, stretches out its wings, and takes them up, and carries them on its shoulders.
12 Il Signore, lui solo lo ha guidato, non c’era con lui alcun dio straniero.	12 The Lord alone was his leader, and there was no strange god with him.
13 Lo fece salire sulle alture della terra e lo nutrì con i prodotti della campagna; gli fece succhiare miele dalla rupe e olio dalla roccia durissima,	13 He stood him upon an exalted land, so that he might eat the fruits of the fields, so that he might eat honey from the rock, and oil from the hardest stone,
14 panna di mucca e latte di pecora insieme con grasso di agnelli, arieti di Basan e capri, fior di farina di frumento e sangue di uva, che bevevi spumeggiante.	14 butter from the herd, and milk from the sheep, with fat from the lambs, and with rams and goats from the sons of Bashan, with the kernel of the wheat, and so that he might drink the undiluted blood of the grape.
15 Iesurùn si è ingrassato e ha recalcitrato, – sì, ti sei ingrassato, impinguato, rimpinzato – e ha respinto il Dio che lo aveva fatto, ha disprezzato la Roccia, sua salvezza.	15 The beloved grew fat, and he kicked. Having grown fat and thick and wide, he abandoned God, his Maker, and he withdrew from God, his Savior.
16 Lo hanno fatto ingelosire con dèi stranieri e provocato all’ira con abomini.	16 They provoked him with strange gods, and they stirred him to anger by their abominations.
17 Hanno sacrificato a dèmoni che non sono Dio, a dèi che non conoscevano, nuovi, venuti da poco, che i vostri padri non avevano temuto.	17 They immolated to demons and not to God, to gods whom they did not know, who were new and recent arrivals, whom their fathers did not worship.
18 La Roccia, che ti ha generato, tu hai trascurato; hai dimenticato il Dio che ti ha procreato!	18 You have forsaken the God who conceived you, and you have forgotten the Lord who created you.
19 Ma il Signore ha visto e ha disdegnato con ira i suoi figli e le sue figlie.	19 The Lord saw, and he was stirred to anger. For his own sons and daughters provoked him.
20 Ha detto: “Io nasconderò loro il mio volto; vedrò quale sarà la loro fine. Sono una generazione perfida, sono figli infedeli.	20 And he said: ‘I will hide my face from them, and I will consider their very end. For this is a perverse generation, and they are unfaithful sons.
21 Mi resero geloso con ciò che non è Dio, mi irritarono con i loro idoli vani; io li renderò gelosi con uno che non è popolo, li irriterò con una nazione stolta.	21 They have provoked me with that which was not God, and they have angered me with their emptiness. And so, I will provoke them with that which is not a people, and I will anger them with a foolish nation.
22 Un fuoco si è acceso nella mia collera e brucerà fino alla profondità degl’inferi; divorerà la terra e il suo prodotto e incendierà le radici dei monti.	22 A fire has been kindled in my fury, and it will burn even to the deepest Hell, and it will devour the earth with its produce, and it will burn the foundations of the mountains.
23 Accumulerò sopra di loro i malanni; le mie frecce esaurirò contro di loro.	23 I will heap evils upon them, and I will expend my arrows among them.
24 Saranno estenuati dalla fame, divorati dalla febbre e da peste dolorosa. Il dente delle belve manderò contro di loro, con il veleno dei rettili che strisciano nella polvere.	24 They will be consumed by famine, and birds with a very bitter bite will devour them. I will send forth the teeth of wild beasts among them, along with the fury of creatures that scurry across the ground, and of serpents.
25 Di fuori la spada li priverà dei figli, dentro le case li ucciderà lo spavento. Periranno insieme il giovane e la vergine, il lattante e l’uomo canuto.	25 Outside, the sword will devastate them; and inside, there will be dread, as much for the young man as for the maiden, and as much for the newborn as for the old man.
26 Io ho detto: Li voglio disperdere, cancellarne tra gli uomini il ricordo,	26 I said: Where are they? I will cause their memory to cease from among men.
27 se non temessi l’arroganza del nemico. Non si ingannino i loro avversari; non dicano: La nostra mano ha vinto, non è il Signore che ha operato tutto questo!	27 But because of the wrath of the enemies, I have delayed it. Otherwise, perhaps their enemies would be arrogant and would say: “Our exalted hand, and not the Lord, has done all these things.”
28 Sono un popolo insensato e in essi non c’è intelligenza:	28 They are a nation without counsel and without prudence.
29 se fossero saggi, capirebbero, rifletterebbero sulla loro fine.	29 I wish that they would be wise and understanding, and would provide for the very end.’
30 Come può un uomo solo inseguirne mille o due soli metterne in fuga diecimila? Non è forse perché la loro Roccia li ha venduti, il Signore li ha consegnati?	30 How is it that one pursues a thousand, and two chases ten thousand? Is it not because their God has sold them, and because the Lord has enclosed them?
31 Perché la loro roccia non è come la nostra e i nostri nemici ne sono giudici.	31 For our God is not like their gods. And our enemies are judges.
32 La loro vite è dal ceppo di Sòdoma, dalle piantagioni di Gomorra. La loro uva è velenosa, ha grappoli amari.	32 Their vines are of the vines of Sodom, but from the suburbs of Gomorrah. Their grapes are the grapes of gall, and their grape clusters are most bitter.
33 Tossico di serpenti è il loro vino, micidiale veleno di vipere.	33 Their wine is the gall of snakes, and it is the incurable venom of asps.
34 Non è questo nascosto presso di me, sigillato nei miei forzieri?	34 ‘Have not these things been stored up with me, and sealed up amid my treasures?
35 Mia sarà la vendetta e il castigo, quando vacillerà il loro piede! Sì, vicino è il giorno della loro rovina e il loro destino si affretta a venire”.	35 Vengeance is mine, and I will repay them in due time, so that their foot may slip and fall. The day of perdition is near, and the time rushes to appear.’
36 Perché il Signore farà giustizia al suo popolo e dei suoi servi avrà compassione; quando vedrà che ogni forza è svanita e non è rimasto né schiavo né libero.	36 The Lord will judge his people, and he will take pity on his servants. He will see that their hand has been weakened, and that those who have been enclosed have likewise failed, and that those who have been left behind have been consumed.
37 Allora dirà: “Dove sono i loro dèi, la roccia in cui cercavano rifugio,	37 And he shall say: ‘Where are their gods, in whom they had confidence?
38 quelli che mangiavano il grasso dei loro sacrifici, che bevevano il vino delle loro libagioni? Sorgano ora e vi soccorrano, siano il riparo per voi!	38 They ate the fat of their victims, and they drank the wine of their libations. So let these rise up, and bring relief to you, and protect you in your distress.
39 Ora vedete che io, io lo sono e nessun altro è dio accanto a me. Sono io che do la morte e faccio vivere; io percuoto e io guarisco, e nessuno può liberare dalla mia mano.	39 See that I am alone, and there is no other god beside me. I will kill, and I will cause to live. I will strike, and I will heal. And there is no one who is able to rescue from my hand.
40 Alzo la mano verso il cielo e dico: Per la mia vita, per sempre:	40 I will lift up my hand to heaven, and I will say: I live in eternity.
41 quando avrò affilato la folgore della mia spada e la mia mano inizierà il giudizio, farò vendetta dei miei avversari, ripagherò i miei nemici.	41 When I sharpen my sword like lightning, and my hand takes hold of judgment, then I will render vengeance to my enemies, and I will repay those who hate me.
42 Inebrierò di sangue le mie frecce, si pascerà di carne la mia spada, del sangue dei cadaveri e dei prigionieri, delle teste dei condottieri nemici!”.	42 I will inebriate my arrows with blood, and my sword will devour flesh: from the blood of the slain and from the captive, from the exposed head of the enemies.’
43 Esultate, o nazioni, per il suo popolo, perché egli vendicherà il sangue dei suoi servi; volgerà la vendetta contro i suoi avversari e purificherà la sua terra e il suo popolo».	43 You nations, praise his people! For he will avenge the blood of his servants. And he will distribute vengeance to their enemies. And he will be merciful to the land of his people.”
44 Mosè venne con Giosuè, figlio di Nun, e pronunciò agli orecchi del popolo tutte le parole di questo cantico.	44 Therefore, Moses went and spoke all the words of this canticle to the ears of the people, both he and Joshua, the son of Nun.
45 Quando Mosè ebbe finito di pronunciare tutte queste parole davanti a tutto Israele, disse loro:	45 And he completed all these words, speaking to all of Israel.
46 «Ponete nella vostra mente tutte le parole che io oggi uso come testimonianza contro di voi. Le prescriverete ai vostri figli, perché cerchino di eseguire tutte le parole di questa legge.	46 And he said to them: “Set your hearts upon all the words which I am testifying to you this day. So shall you command your sons, to keep, and to do, and to fulfill all the things that have been written in this law.
47 Essa infatti non è una parola senza valore per voi; anzi è la vostra vita. Per questa parola passerete lunghi giorni nel paese in cui state per entrare per prenderne possesso, attraversando il Giordano».	47 For these things have not been entrusted to you to no purpose, but so that each one would live by them, and so that, in doing these, you may continue for a long time in the land, which you will enter upon crossing the Jordan in order to possess it.”
48 In quello stesso giorno il Signore disse a Mosè:	48 And the Lord spoke to Moses on the same day, saying:
49 «Sali su questo monte degli Abarìm, sul monte Nebo, che è nella terra di Moab, di fronte a Gerico, e contempla la terra di Canaan, che io do in possesso agli Israeliti.	49 “Ascend this mountain, Abarim, (that is, of crossings) onto Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, opposite Jericho, and look upon the land of Canaan, which I will deliver to the sons of Israel to obtain it. And you shall die upon the mountain.
50 Muori sul monte sul quale stai per salire e riunisciti ai tuoi antenati, come Aronne tuo fratello è morto sul monte Or ed è stato riunito ai suoi antenati,	50 After climbing it, you will be joined to your people, just as your brother Aaron died on Mount Hor, and was placed with his people.
51 perché siete stati infedeli verso di me in mezzo agli Israeliti alle acque di Merìba di Kades, nel deserto di Sin, e non avete manifestato la mia santità in mezzo agli Israeliti.	51 For you trespassed against me in the midst of the sons of Israel, at the Waters of Contradiction, in Kadesh, in the desert of Sin. And you did not sanctify me among the sons of Israel.
52 Tu vedrai la terra davanti a te, ma là, nella terra che io sto per dare agli Israeliti, tu non entrerai!».	52 You shall see the land opposite you, which I will give to the sons of Israel, but you shall not enter into it.”
