Osea 4

1 «Ascoltate la parola del Signore, o figli d’Israele, perché il Signore è in causa con gli abitanti del paese. Non c’è infatti sincerità né amore, né conoscenza di Dio nel paese.	1 Hear the word of the LORD, O people of Israel, for the LORD has a grievance against the inhabitants of the land: There is no fidelity, no mercy, no knowledge of God in the land.
2 Si spergiura, si dice il falso, si uccide, si ruba, si commette adulterio, tutto questo dilaga e si versa sangue su sangue.	2 False swearing, lying, murder, stealing and adultery! in their lawlessness, bloodshed follows bloodshed.
3 Per questo è in lutto il paese e chiunque vi abita langue, insieme con gli animali selvatici e con gli uccelli del cielo; persino i pesci del mare periscono.	3 Therefore the land mourns, and everything that dwells in it languishes: The beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and even the fish of the sea perish.
4 Ma nessuno accusi, nessuno contesti; contro di te, sacerdote, muovo l’accusa.	4 But let no one protest, let no one complain; with you is my grievance, O priests!
5 Tu inciampi di giorno e anche il profeta con te inciampa di notte e farò perire tua madre.	5 You shall stumble in the day, and the prophets shall stumble with you at night; I will destroy your mother.
6 Perisce il mio popolo per mancanza di conoscenza. Poiché tu rifiuti la conoscenza, rifiuterò te come mio sacerdote; hai dimenticato la legge del tuo Dio e anch’io dimenticherò i tuoi figli.	6 My people perish for want of knowledge! Since you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you from my priesthood; Since you have ignored the law of your God, I will also ignore your sons.
7 Tutti hanno peccato contro di me; cambierò la loro gloria in ignominia.	7 One and all they sin against me, exchanging their glory for shame.
8 Essi si nutrono del peccato del mio popolo e sono avidi della sua iniquità.	8 They feed on the sin of my people, and are greedy for their guilt.
9 Il popolo e il sacerdote avranno la stessa sorte; li punirò per la loro condotta e li ripagherò secondo le loro azioni.	9 The priests shall fare no better than the people: I will punish them for their ways, and repay them for their deeds.
10 Mangeranno, ma non si sazieranno, si prostituiranno, ma non aumenteranno, perché hanno abbandonato il Signore per darsi	10 They shall eat but not be satisfied, they shall play the harlot but not increase, Because they have abandoned the LORD
11 alla prostituzione. Il vino vecchio e quello nuovo tolgono il senno.	11 to practice harlotry. Old wine and new deprive my people of understanding.
12 Il mio popolo consulta il suo pezzo di legno e il suo bastone gli dà il responso, poiché uno spirito di prostituzione li svia e si prostituiscono, allontanandosi dal loro Dio.	12 They consult their piece of wood, and their wand makes pronouncements for them, For the spirit of harlotry has led them astray; they commit harlotry, forsaking their God.
13 Sulla cima dei monti fanno sacrifici e sui colli bruciano incensi sotto la quercia, i pioppi e i terebinti, perché buona è la loro ombra. Perciò si prostituiscono le vostre figlie e le vostre nuore commettono adulterio.	13 On the mountaintops they offer sacrifice and on the hills they burn incense, Beneath oak and poplar and terebinth, because of their pleasant shade. That is why your daughters play the harlot, and your daughters-in-law are adulteresses.
14 Non punirò le vostre figlie se si prostituiscono, né le vostre nuore se commettono adulterio; poiché essi stessi si appartano con le prostitute e con le prostitute sacre offrono sacrifici. Un popolo, che non comprende, va in rovina!	14 Am I then to punish your daughters for their harlotry, your daughters-in-law for their adultery? You yourselves consort with harlots, and with prostitutes you offer sacrifice! So must a people without understanding come to ruin.
15 Se ti prostituisci tu, Israele, non si renda colpevole Giuda. Non andate a Gàlgala, non salite a Bet-Aven, non giurate per il Signore vivente.	15 Though you play the harlot, O Israel, let not Judah become guilty! Come not to Gilgal, nor up to Beth-aven, to swear, "As the Lord lives!"
16 E poiché come giovenca ribelle si ribella Israele, forse potrà pascolarlo il Signore come agnello in luoghi aperti?	16 For Israel is as stubborn as a heifer; will the LORD now give them broad pastures as though they were lambs?
17 Èfraim si è alleato agli idoli:	17 Ephraim is an associate of idols, let him alone!
18 dopo essersi ubriacati si sono dati alla prostituzione, hanno preferito il disonore alla loro gloria.	18 When their carousing is over, they give themselves to harlotry; in their arrogance they love shame.
19 Un vento li travolgerà con le sue ali e si vergogneranno dei loro sacrifici.	19 The wind has bound them up in its pinions; they shall have only shame from their altars.
