1 Differente è il caso di chi si applica e medita la legge dell'Altissimo. Egli indaga la sapienza di tutti gli antichi, si dedica allo studio delle profezie.	1 Not so with one who concentrates his mind and his meditation on the Law of the Most High. Heresearches into the wisdom of al the Ancients, he occupies his time with the prophecies.
2 Conserva i detti degli uomini famosi, penetra le sottigliezze delle parabole,	2 He preserves the discourses of famous men, he is at home with the niceties of parables.
3 indaga il senso recondito dei proverbi e s'occupa degli enigmi delle parabole.	3 He researches into the hidden sense of proverbs, he ponders the obscurities of parables.
4 Svolge il suo compito fra i grandi, è presente alle riunioni dei capi, viaggia fra genti straniere, investigando il bene e il male in mezzo agli uomini.	4 He enters the service of princes, he is seen in the presence of rulers. He travels in foreign countries, hehas experienced human good and human evil.
5 Di buon mattino rivolge il cuore al Signore, che lo ha creato, prega davanti all'Altissimo, apre la bocca alla preghiera, implora per i suoi peccati.	5 At dawn and with al his heart he turns to the Lord his Creator; he pleads in the presence of the MostHigh, he opens his mouth in prayer and makes entreaty for his sins.
6 Se questa è la volontà del Signore grande, egli sarà ricolmato di spirito di intelligenza, come pioggia effonderà parole di sapienza, nella preghiera renderà lode al Signore.	6 If such be the wil of the great Lord, he wil be filled with the spirit of intel igence, he wil shower forthwords of wisdom, and in prayer give thanks to the Lord.
7 Egli dirigerà il suo consiglio e la sua scienza, mediterà sui misteri di Dio.	7 He will grow upright in purpose and learning, he will ponder the Lord's hidden mysteries.
8 Farà brillare la dottrina del suo insegnamento, si vanterà della legge dell'alleanza del Signore.	8 He will display the instruction he has received, taking his pride in the Law of the Lord's covenant.
9 Molti loderanno la sua intelligenza, egli non sarà mai dimenticato, non scomparirà il suo ricordo, il suo nome vivrà di generazione in generazione.	9 Many wil praise his intel igence and it wil never be forgotten. His memory will not disappear,generation after generation his name will live.
10 I popoli parleranno della sua sapienza, l'assemblea proclamerà le sue lodi.	10 Nations wil proclaim his wisdom, the assembly will celebrate his praises.
11 Finché vive, lascerà un nome più noto di mille, quando muore, avrà già fatto abbastanza per sé.	11 If he lives long, his name will be more glorious than a thousand others, and if he dies, that wil satisfyhim just as wel .

13 Ascoltatemi, figli santi, e crescete come una pianta di rose su un torrente.	13 Listen to me, devout children, and blossom like the rose that grows on the bank of a watercourse.
14 Come incenso spandete un buon profumo, fate fiorire fiori come il giglio, spargete profumo e intonate un canto di lode; benedite il Signore per tutte le opere sue.	14 Give off a sweet smel like incense, flower like the lily, spread your fragrance abroad, sing a song ofpraise blessing the Lord for all his works.
15 Magnificate il suo nome; proclamate le sue lodi con i vostri canti e le vostre cetre; così direte nella vostra lode:	15 Declare the greatness of his name, proclaim his praise with song and with lyre, and this is how youmust sing his praises:
16 "Quanto sono magnifiche tutte le opere del Signore! Ogni sua disposizione avrà luogo a suo tempo!". Non c'è da dire: "Che è questo? Perché quello?". Tutte le cose saranno indagate a suo tempo.	16 'How wonderful, the actions of the Lord! Whatever he orders is done at the proper time!' You must notsay, 'What is this? Why is that?' There is a proper time for every question.
17 Alla sua parola l'acqua si ferma come un cumulo, a un suo detto si aprono i serbatoi delle acque.	17 At his word, the water stops and piles up high, at his voice, the watery reservoirs take shape,
18 A un suo comando si realizza quanto egli vuole; nessuno può ostacolare il suo aiuto.	18 at his command, whatever he wants is done, no one can stop him, if he intends to save.
19 Ogni azione umana è davanti a lui, non è possibile nascondersi ai suoi occhi.	19 He can see whatever human beings are doing, nothing can be hidden from his eye;
20 Il suo sguardo passa da un'eternità all'altra, nulla è straordinario davanti a lui.	20 his gaze stretches from eternity to eternity, and nothing can astonish him.
21 Non c'è da dire: "Che è questo? Perché quello?" poiché tutte le cose sono state create per un fine.	21 You must not say, 'What is this? Why is that?' for everything has been made for a purpose.

25 I beni per i buoni furon creati sin da principio, ma anche i mali per i peccatori.	25 Good things were created from the beginning for good people, as bad ones were for sinners.
26 Le cose di prima necessità per la vita dell'uomo sono: acqua, fuoco, ferro, sale, farina di frumento, latte, miele, succo di uva, olio e vestito.	26 The prime needs of human beings for living are water and fire, iron and salt, wheat-flour, milk andhoney, the juice of the grape, oil and clothing.
27 Tutte queste cose per i pii sono beni, ma per i peccatori diventano mali.	27 Al these are good for those who are good, but turn out bad for sinners.
28 Ci sono venti creati per castigo, e nella loro furia rafforzano i loro flagelli; quando verrà la fine, scateneranno violenza, e placheranno lo sdegno del loro creatore.	28 Some winds have been created for punishing, in his fury, he uses them as scourges; on the day ofdoom, they unleash their violence and appease the wrath of their Creator.
29 Fuoco, grandine, fame e morte son tutte cose create per il castigo.	29 Fire and hail, famine and death, have al been created for punishing.
30 Denti delle fiere, scorpioni e vipere, e spade vendicatrici sono per la rovina degli empi.	30 Wild animals' fangs, scorpions, vipers, the avenging sword for the ruin of the godless:
31 Esulteranno al comando divino; sono pronte sulla terra per tutti i bisogni. A tempo opportuno non trasgrediranno la parola.	31 all of them exult in discharging his orders, ready on earth whenever the need arises and, when theirtime comes, not fal ing short of his word.
32 Per questo ero convinto fin dal principio, vi ho riflettuto e l'ho messo per iscritto:	32 That is why I was determined from the outset, why I have pondered and why I have written,
33 "Tutte le opere del Signore sono buone; egli provvederà tutto a suo tempo".	33 'The works of the Lord are all good, when the time is right, he gives whatever is needed.
34 Non c'è da dire: "Questo è peggiore di quello", a suo tempo ogni cosa sarà riconosciuta buona.	34 You must not say, "This is worse than that," for, sooner or later, everything proves its worth.
