1 Differente è il caso di chi si applica e medita la legge dell'Altissimo. Egli indaga la sapienza di tutti gli antichi, si dedica allo studio delle profezie.	1 How different the man who devotes himself to the study of the law of the Most High! He explores the wisdom of the men of old and occupies himself with the prophecies;
2 Conserva i detti degli uomini famosi, penetra le sottigliezze delle parabole,	2 He treasures the discourses of famous men, and goes to the heart of involved sayings;
3 indaga il senso recondito dei proverbi e s'occupa degli enigmi delle parabole.	3 He studies obscure parables, and is busied with the hidden meanings of the sages.
4 Svolge il suo compito fra i grandi, è presente alle riunioni dei capi, viaggia fra genti straniere, investigando il bene e il male in mezzo agli uomini.	4 He is in attendance on the great, and has entrance to the ruler.
5 Di buon mattino rivolge il cuore al Signore, che lo ha creato, prega davanti all'Altissimo, apre la bocca alla preghiera, implora per i suoi peccati.	5 He travels among the peoples of foreign lands to learn what is good and evil among men.
6 Se questa è la volontà del Signore grande, egli sarà ricolmato di spirito di intelligenza, come pioggia effonderà parole di sapienza, nella preghiera renderà lode al Signore.	6 His care is to seek the LORD, his Maker, to petition the Most High, To open his lips in prayer, to ask pardon for his sins. Then, if it pleases the LORD Almighty, he will be filled with the spirit of understanding; He will pour forth his words of wisdom and in prayer give thanks to the LORD,
7 Egli dirigerà il suo consiglio e la sua scienza, mediterà sui misteri di Dio.	7 Who will direct his knowledge and his counsel, as he meditates upon his mysteries.
8 Farà brillare la dottrina del suo insegnamento, si vanterà della legge dell'alleanza del Signore.	8 He will show the wisdom of what he has learned and glory in the law of the LORD'S covenant.
9 Molti loderanno la sua intelligenza, egli non sarà mai dimenticato, non scomparirà il suo ricordo, il suo nome vivrà di generazione in generazione.	9 Many will praise his understanding; his fame can never be effaced; Unfading will be his memory, through all generations his name will live;
10 I popoli parleranno della sua sapienza, l'assemblea proclamerà le sue lodi.	10 Peoples will speak of his wisdom, and in assembly sing his praises.
11 Finché vive, lascerà un nome più noto di mille, quando muore, avrà già fatto abbastanza per sé.	11 While he lives he is one out of a thousand, and when he dies his renown will not cease.
12 Esporrò ancora le mie riflessioni, ne sono pieno come la luna a metà mese.	12 Once more I will set forth my theme to shine like the moon in its fullness!
13 Ascoltatemi, figli santi, e crescete come una pianta di rose su un torrente.	13 Listen, my faithful children: open up your petals, like roses planted near running waters;
14 Come incenso spandete un buon profumo, fate fiorire fiori come il giglio, spargete profumo e intonate un canto di lode; benedite il Signore per tutte le opere sue.	14 Send up the sweet odor of incense, break forth in blossoms like the lily. Send up the sweet odor of your hymn of praise; bless the LORD for all he has done!
15 Magnificate il suo nome; proclamate le sue lodi con i vostri canti e le vostre cetre; così direte nella vostra lode:	15 Proclaim the greatness of his name, loudly sing his praises, With music on the harp and all stringed instruments; sing out with joy as you proclaim:
16 "Quanto sono magnifiche tutte le opere del Signore! Ogni sua disposizione avrà luogo a suo tempo!". Non c'è da dire: "Che è questo? Perché quello?". Tutte le cose saranno indagate a suo tempo.	16 The works of God are all of them good; in its own time every need is supplied.
17 Alla sua parola l'acqua si ferma come un cumulo, a un suo detto si aprono i serbatoi delle acque.	17 At his word the waters become still as in a flask; he had but to speak and the reservoirs were made.
18 A un suo comando si realizza quanto egli vuole; nessuno può ostacolare il suo aiuto.	18 He has but to command and his will is done; nothing can limit his achievement.
19 Ogni azione umana è davanti a lui, non è possibile nascondersi ai suoi occhi.	19 The works of all mankind are present to him; not a thing escapes his eye.
20 Il suo sguardo passa da un'eternità all'altra, nulla è straordinario davanti a lui.	20 His gaze spans all the ages; to him there is nothing unexpected.
21 Non c'è da dire: "Che è questo? Perché quello?" poiché tutte le cose sono state create per un fine.	21 No cause then to say: "What is the purpose of this?" Everything is chosen to satisfy a need.
22 La sua benedizione si diffonde come un fiume e irriga come un'inondazione la terra.	22 His blessing overflows like the Nile; like the Euphrates it enriches the surface of the earth.
23 Così le genti sperimenteranno la sua ira, come trasformò le acque in deserto salato.	23 Again, his wrath expels the nations and turns fertile land into a salt marsh.
24 Le sue vie sono diritte per i santi, ma per gli empi piene di inciampi.	24 For the virtuous his paths are level, to the haughty they are steep;
25 I beni per i buoni furon creati sin da principio, ma anche i mali per i peccatori.	25 Good things for the good he provided from the beginning, but for the wicked good things and bad.
26 Le cose di prima necessità per la vita dell'uomo sono: acqua, fuoco, ferro, sale, farina di frumento, latte, miele, succo di uva, olio e vestito.	26 Chief of all needs for human life are water and fire, iron and salt, The heart of the wheat, milk and honey, the blood of the grape, and oil, and cloth;
27 Tutte queste cose per i pii sono beni, ma per i peccatori diventano mali.	27 For the good all these are good, but for the wicked they turn out evil.
28 Ci sono venti creati per castigo, e nella loro furia rafforzano i loro flagelli; quando verrà la fine, scateneranno violenza, e placheranno lo sdegno del loro creatore.	28 There are storm winds created to punish, which in their fury can dislodge mountains; When destruction must be, they hurl all their force and appease the anger of their Maker.
29 Fuoco, grandine, fame e morte son tutte cose create per il castigo.	29 In his treasury also, kept for the proper time, are fire and hail, famine, disease,
30 Denti delle fiere, scorpioni e vipere, e spade vendicatrici sono per la rovina degli empi.	30 Ravenous beasts, scorpions, vipers, and the avenging sword to exterminate the wicked;
31 Esulteranno al comando divino; sono pronte sulla terra per tutti i bisogni. A tempo opportuno non trasgrediranno la parola.	31 In doing his bidding they rejoice, in their assignments they disobey not his command.
32 Per questo ero convinto fin dal principio, vi ho riflettuto e l'ho messo per iscritto:	32 So from the first I took my stand, and wrote down as my theme:
33 "Tutte le opere del Signore sono buone; egli provvederà tutto a suo tempo".	33 The works of God are all of them good; every need when it comes he fills.
34 Non c'è da dire: "Questo è peggiore di quello", a suo tempo ogni cosa sarà riconosciuta buona.	34 No cause then to say: "This is not as good as that"; for each shows its worth at the proper time.
35 Ora cantate inni con tutto il cuore e con la bocca e benedite il nome del Signore.	35 So now with full joy of heart proclaim and bless the name of the Holy One.
