1 In quel tempo sorgerà Michele il grande capo che si schiera a favore dei figli del tuo popolo; sarà un tempo di angoscia quale non si era verificato dal sorgere delle nazioni fino a questo tempo: in quel tempo il tuo popolo si salverà, chiunque si trovi iscritto nel libro.	1 'At that time Michael wil arise -- the great Prince, defender of your people. That wil be a time of greatdistress, unparal eled since nations first came into existence. When that time comes, your own people wil bespared -- al those whose names are found written in the Book.
2 Molti di coloro che dormono nella terra della polvere si desteranno, questi alla vita eterna e quelli alla vergogna e al ludibrio eterno.	2 'Of those who are sleeping in the Land of Dust, many wil awaken, some to everlasting life, some toshame and everlasting disgrace.
3 I saggi brilleranno come lo splendore del firmamento e coloro che avranno attratto molti alla giustizia saranno come le stelle in eterno e sempre.	3 Those who are wise wil shine as brightly as the expanse of the heavens, and those who haveinstructed many in uprightness, as bright as stars for al eternity.
4 Ma tu, Daniele, tieni nascoste le parole e conserva in segreto il libro fino al tempo della fine. Molti lo scruteranno e aumenterà la cooscenza».	4 'But you, Daniel, must keep these words secret and keep the book sealed until the time of the End.Many wil roam about, this way and that, and wickedness wil continue to increase.'
5 lo Daniele vidi, ed ecco due altri stare, l’uno qui su una sponda del fiume e l’altro là sull’altra sponda del fiume.	5 I, Daniel, then looked and saw two other people standing, one on the near bank of the river, the otheron the far.
6 Dissi all’uomo vestito di lino che stava al disopra delle acque del fiume: «A quando il compimento di questi prodigi?»	6 One of them said to the man dressed in linen who was standing further up the stream, 'How long untilthese wonders take place?'
7 Udii l’uomo vestito di lino che stava al disopra delle acque del fiume; alzò la destra e la sinistra verso il cielo e giurò per colui che vive in eterno: «Per un tempo, tempi e metà. Quando si compirà la dispersione della potenza del popolo santo tutte queste cose si realizzeranno».	7 I heard the man speak who was dressed in linen, standing further up the stream: he raised his righthand and his left to heaven and swore by him who lives for ever, 'A time and two times, and half a time; and althese things wil come true, once the crushing of the holy people's power is over.'
8 Io udii ma non compresi e dissi: «Mio Signore, quale sarà la fine di queste cose?»	8 I listened but did not understand. I then said, 'My lord, what is to be the outcome?'
9 Quegli rispose: «Va’, Daniele, poiché l’oracolo è segreto fino al tempo della fine.	9 'Go, Daniel,' he said. 'These words are to remain secret and sealed until the time of the End.
10 Molti saranno affinati, purificati e trovati; ma gli empi agiranno iniquamente e non comprenderanno, i saggi invece comprenderanno.	10 Many wil be cleansed, made white and purged; the wicked will persist in doing wrong; the wicked willnever understand; those who are wise wil understand.
11 Dal tempo della soppressione del sacrificio continuo e dell’insediamento dell’orrore del devastatore milleduecentonovanta giorni.	11 From the moment that the perpetual sacrifice is abolished and the appal ing abomination set up: athousand two hundred and ninety days.
12 Beato colui che sa aspettare e che giungerà fino a milletrecentotrentacinque giorni.	12 Blessed is he who perseveres and attains a thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.
13 Ora tu va’ alla fine e riposa; levati alla tua sorte alla fine dei giorni». Fin qui leggiamo Daniele nel rotolo ebraico. Ciò che segue sino alla fine del libro è stato tradotto dalla edizione di Teodozione.	13 But you, go away and rest; and you wil rise for your reward at the end of time.'
