| 4 Comandò al popolo e a tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme di consegnare la porzione dei sacerdoti e dei Leviti affinché questi potessero perseverare nella legge di Jahvè. | 4 And he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to the law of the LORD. |
| 5 Appena l’ordine si diffuse, i figli di Israele offrirono in maggior quantità le primizie del grano, del mosto, dell’olio, del miele e di ogni prodotto della campagna e portarono la decima di qualsiasi cosa in abbondanza. | 5 As soon as the command was spread abroad, the people of Israel gave in abundance the first fruits of grain, wine, oil, honey, and of all the produce of the field; and they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything. |

| 9 Ezechia interrogò i sacerdoti e i Leviti a proposito dei mucchi. | 9 And Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites about the heaps. |
| 10 Gli rispose Azaria sacerdote e capo della casa di Zadok: «Da quando si è cominciato a portare l’offerta nel tempio di Jahvè noi abbiamo mangiato, ci siamo saziati e ne è avanzato in abbondanza; Jahvè ha infatti benedetto il suo popolo è pertanto ci è rimasta questa ingente quantità di roba!» | 10 Azariah the chief priest, who was of the house of Zadok, answered him, "Since they began to bring the contributions into the house of the LORD we have eaten and had enough and have plenty left; for the LORD has blessed his people, so that we have this great store left." |
| 11 Allora Ezechia ordinò di preparare alcune camere nel tempio di Jahvè. Appena furono pronte, | 11 Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared them. |
| 12 vi introdussero il contributo, cioè le decime e i doni sacri. Chonania il Levita ne era sovrintendente; Shimei suo fratello era al secondo posto; | 12 And they faithfully brought in the contributions, the tithes and the dedicated things. The chief officer in charge of them was Conaniah the Levite, with Shime-i his brother as second; |

| 17 Ora l'iscrizione dei sacerdoti sui registri era fatta secondo le loro casate; quella dei Leviti invece dai vent’anni in su secondo l’ordine delle loro classi. | 17 The enrollment of the priests was according to their fathers' houses; that of the Levites from twenty years old and upwards was according to their offices, by their divisions. |
| 18 Nel registro erano stati inseriti i loro bimbi, le loro mogli, i loro figli e le loro figlie di qualsiasi assemblea; anch’essi infatti erano consacrati a causa della loro discendenza legittima, | 18 The priests were enrolled with all their little children, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, the whole multitude; for they were faithful in keeping themselves holy. |
| 19 Anche per i figli di Aronne, cioè per i sacerdoti con dimora nei pascoli vicini alle loro città, in ogni città uomini designati per nome erano incaricati della distribuzione delle porzioni a ogni maschio fra i sacerdoti e a ogni Levita che fosse inserito nel registro. | 19 And for the sons of Aaron, the priests, who were in the fields of common land belonging to their cities, there were men in the several cities who were designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to every one among the Levites who was enrolled. |
| 20 Così fece Ezechia per tutto Giuda e compì ciò che è buono, retto e leale al cospetto di Jahvè suo Dio. | 20 Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah; and he did what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God. |
| 21 In ogni opera che egli intraprese a favore del tempio di Dio, a beneficio della legge e dei comandamenti, per ricercare il suo Dio, agì con integrità di cuore e perciò riuscì felicemente. | 21 And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered. |
