1 El que vive eternamente lo creó todo por igual,	1 The Eternal is the judge of all things without exception; the LORD alone is just.
2 sólo el Señor será llamado justo.	2 Whom has he made equal to describing his works, and who can probe his mighty deeds?
	3 Who can measure his majestic power, or exhaust the tale of his mercies?
4 A nadie dio poder de proclamar sus obras, pues ¿quién podrá rastrear sus maravillas?	4 One cannot lessen, nor increase, nor penetrate the wonders of the LORD.
5 El poder de su majestad, ¿quién lo calculará? ¿quién pretenderá contar sus misericordias?	5 When a man ends he is only beginning, and when he stops he is still bewildered.
6 Nada hay que quitar, nada que añadir, y no se pueden rastrear las maravillas del Señor.	6 What is man, of what worth is he? the good, the evil in him, what are these?
7 Cuando el hombre cree acabar, comienza entonces, cuando se para, se queda perplejo.	7 The sum of a man's days is great if it reaches a hundred years:
8 ¿Qué es el hombre? ¿para qué sirve? ¿cuál es su bien y cuál su mal?	8 Like a drop of sea water, like a grain of sand, so are these few years among the days of eternity.
9 El número de los días del hombre mucho será si llega a los cien años.	9 That is why the LORD is patient with men and showers upon them his mercy.
10 Como gota de agua del mar, como grano de arena, tan pocos son sus años frente a la eternidad.	10 He sees and understands that their death is grievous, and so he forgives them all the more.
11 Por eso el Señor es paciente con ellos, y derrama sobre ellos su misericordia.	11 Man may be merciful to his fellow man, but the LORD'S mercy reaches all flesh,
12 El ve y sabe que su fin es miserable, por eso multiplica su perdón.	12 Reproving, admonishing, teaching, as a shepherd guides his flock;
13 La misericordia del hombre sólo alcanza a su prójimo, la misericorida del Señor abarca a todo el mundo. El reprende, adoctrina y enseña, y hace volver, como un pastor, a su rebaño.	13 Merciful to those who accept his guidance, who are diligent in his precepts.
14 Tiene piedad de los que acogen la instrucción, y de los que se afanan por sus juicios.	14 My son, to your charity add no reproach, nor spoil any gift by harsh words.
15 Hijo, con tus beneficios no mezcles el reproche ni a tus regalos juntes palabras tristes.	15 Like dew that abates a burning wind, so does a word improve a gift.
16 ¿No aplaca el rocío el viento ardiente? Así vale más la palabra que el regalo.	16 Sometimes the word means more than the gift; both are offered by a kindly man.
17 ¿No ves que la palabra es más que un buen presente? Pues el hombre dadivoso une los dos.	17 Only a fool upbraids before giving; a grudging gift wears out the expectant eyes.
18 El necio aun sin dar hace afrenta, quema los ojos el don del envidioso.	18 Be informed before speaking; before sickness prepare the cure.
19 Antes de hablar infórmate, cuídate antes de estar enfermo.	19 Before you are judged, seek merit for yourself, and at the time of visitation you will have a ransom.
20 Antes de juzgar examínate a ti mismo, y en el día de la visita encontrarás perdón.	20 Before you have fallen, humble yourself; when you have sinned, show repentance.
21 Antes de estar enfermo humíllate, cuando peques muestra arrepentimiento.	21 Delay not to forsake sins, neglect it not till you are in distress.
22 Nada te impida cumplir tu voto en el momento dado, no aguardes hasta la muerte para justificarte.	22 Let nothing prevent the prompt payment of your vows; wait not to fulfill them when you are dying.
23 Antes de hacer un voto prepárate; no seas como el hombre que tienta al Señor.	23 Before making a vow have the means to fulfill it; be not one who tries the LORD.
24 Acuérdate de la ira de los últimos días, y del momento del castigo, cuando Dios vuelva su rostro.	24 Think of wrath and the day of death, the time of vengeance when he will hide his face.
25 En tiempo de abundancia recuerda el tiempo de hambre, la pobreza y la penuria en días de riqueza.	25 Remember the time of hunger in the time of plenty, poverty and want in the day of wealth.
26 De la mañana a la tarde corre el tiempo, todo pasa presto delante del Señor.	26 Between morning and evening the weather changes; before the LORD all things are fleeting.
27 El hombre sabio es precavido en todo, en la ocasión de pecar se anda con cuidado.	27 A wise man is circumspect in all things; when sin is rife he keeps himself from wrongdoing.
28 Todo hombre prudente conoce la sabiduría, al que la encuentra le da su parabién.	28 Any learned man should make wisdom known, and he who attains to her should declare her praise;
29 Los prudentes en palabras hacen sabiduría y prodigan los proverbios acertados.	29 Those trained in her words must show their wisdom, dispensing sound proverbs like life-giving waters.
30 No vayas detrás de tus pasiones, tus deseos refrena.	30 Go not after your lusts, but keep your desires in check.
31 Si te consientes en todos los deseos, te harás la irrisión de tus enemigos.	31 If you satisfy your lustful appetites they will make you the sport of your enemies.
32 No te complazcas en la buena vida, no te avengas a asociarte con ella.	32 Have no joy in the pleasures of a moment which bring on poverty redoubled;
33 No te empobrezcas festejando con dinero prestado, cuando nada tienes en tu bolsa.	33 Become not a glutton and a winebibber with nothing in your purse.
