Proverbios 9

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 La Sabiduría ha edificado una casa, ha labrado sus siete columnas,	1 Wisdom has built herself a house, she has hewn her seven pil ars,
2 ha hecho su matanza, ha mezclado su vino, ha aderezado también su mesa.	2 she has slaughtered her beasts, drawn her wine, she has laid her table.
3 Ha mandado a sus criadas y anuncia en lo alto de las colinas de la ciudad:	3 She has despatched her maidservants and proclaimed from the heights above the city,
4 «Si alguno es simple, véngase acá». Y al falto de juicio le dice:	4 'Who is simple? Let him come this way.' To the fool she says,
5 «Venid y comed de mi pan, bebed del vino que he mezclado;	5 'Come and eat my bread, drink the wine which I have drawn!
6 dejaos de simplezas y viviréis, y dirigíos por los caminos de la inteligencia».	6 Leave foolishness behind and you wil live, go forwards in the ways of perception.'
7 El que corrige al arrogante se acarrea desprecio, y el que reprende al malvado, insultos.	7 Reprove a mocker and you attract contempt, rebuke the wicked and you attract dishonour.
8 No reprendas al arrogante, porque te aborrecerá; reprende al sabio, y te amará.	8 Do not rebuke the mocker, he wil hate you. Rebuke the wise and he wil love you for it.
9 Da al sabio, y se hará más sabio todavía; enseña al justo, y crecerá su doctrina.	9 Be open with the wise, he grows wiser stil , teach the upright, he wil gain yet more.
10 Comienzo de la sabiduría es el temor de Yahveh, y la ciencia de los santos es inteligencia.	10 The first principle of wisdom is the fear of Yahweh, What God's holy ones know -- this isunderstanding.
11 Pues por mí se multiplicarán tus días y se aumentarán los años de tu vida.	11 For by me your days wil be multiplied, and your years of life increased.
12 Si te haces sabio, te haces sabio para tu provecho, y si arrogante, tú solo lo tendrás que pagar.	12 Are you wise? You are wise to your own good. A mocker? The burden is yours alone.
13 La mujer necia es alborotada, todo simpleza, no sabe nada.	13 A silly woman acts on impulse, is foolish and knows nothing.
14 Se sienta a la puerta de su casa, sobre un trono, en las colinas de la ciudad,	14 She sits at the door of her house, on a throne high up in the city,
15 para llamar a los que pasan por el camino, a los que van derechos por sus sendas:	15 cal ing to the passers-by, who are walking straight past on their way,
16 «Si alguno es simple, véngase acá» y al falto de juicio le dice:	16 'Who is simple? Turn aside, come over here.' To the fool she says,
17 «Son dulces las aguas robadas y el pan a escondidas es sabroso».	17 'Stolen waters are sweet, and bread tastes better when eaten in secret.'
18 No sabe el hombre que allí moran las Sombras; sus invitados van a los valles del seol.	18 But the fool does not know that this is where the Shades are and that her guests are already in thevales of Sheol.
