Proverbios 9

BIBLIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 La Sabiduría ha edificado una casa, ha labrado sus siete columnas,	1 Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns;
2 ha hecho su matanza, ha mezclado su vino, ha aderezado también su mesa.	2 She has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table.
3 Ha mandado a sus criadas y anuncia en lo alto de las colinas de la ciudad:	3 She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city:
4 «Si alguno es simple, véngase acá». Y al falto de juicio le dice:	4 "Let whoever is simple turn in here; to him who lacks understanding, I say,
5 «Venid y comed de mi pan, bebed del vino que he mezclado;	5 Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed!
6 dejaos de simplezas y viviréis, y dirigíos por los caminos de la inteligencia».	6 Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding.
7 El que corrige al arrogante se acarrea desprecio, y el que reprende al malvado, insultos.	7 He who corrects an arrogant man earns insult; and he who reproves a wicked man incurs opprobrium.
8 No reprendas al arrogante, porque te aborrecerá; reprende al sabio, y te amará.	8 Reprove not an arrogant man, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.
9 Da al sabio, y se hará más sabio todavía; enseña al justo, y crecerá su doctrina.	9 Instruct a wise man, and he becomes still wiser; teach a just man, and he advances in learning.
10 Comienzo de la sabiduría es el temor de Yahveh, y la ciencia de los santos es inteligencia.	10 The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 Pues por mí se multiplicarán tus días y se aumentarán los años de tu vida.	11 For by me your days will be multiplied and the years of your life increased."
12 Si te haces sabio, te haces sabio para tu provecho, y si arrogante, tú solo lo tendrás que pagar.	12 If you are wise, it is to your own advantage; and if you are arrogant, you alone shall bear it.
13 La mujer necia es alborotada, todo simpleza, no sabe nada.	13 The woman Folly is fickle, she is inane, and knows nothing.
14 Se sienta a la puerta de su casa, sobre un trono, en las colinas de la ciudad,	14 She sits at the door of her house upon a seat on the city heights,
15 para llamar a los que pasan por el camino, a los que van derechos por sus sendas:	15 Calling to passers-by as they go on their straight way:
16 «Si alguno es simple, véngase acá» y al falto de juicio le dice:	16 "Let whoever is simple turn in here, or who lacks understanding; for to him I say,
17 «Son dulces las aguas robadas y el pan a escondidas es sabroso».	17 Stolen water is sweet, and bread gotten secretly is pleasing!"
18 No sabe el hombre que allí moran las Sombras; sus invitados van a los valles del seol.	18 Little he knows that the shades are there, that in the depths of the nether world are her guests!
