EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Da antwortete der Herr dem Ijob und sprach:	1 And the Lord answering Job out of the whirlwind, said :
2 Mit dem Allmächtigen will der Tadler rechten? Der Gott anklagt, antworte drauf!	2 Gird up thy loins like a man : I will ask thee, and do thou tell me.
3 Da antwortete Ijob dem Herrn und sprach:	3 Wilt thou make void my judgment : and condemn me, that thou mayst be justified?
4 Siehe, ich bin zu gering. Was kann ich dir erwidern? Ich lege meine Hand auf meinen Mund.	4 And hast thou an arm like God, and canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
5 Einmal habe ich geredet, ich tu es nicht wieder; ein zweites Mal, doch nun nicht mehr!	5 Clothe thyself with beauty, and set thyself up on high and be glorious, and put on goodly garments.
6 Da antwortete der Herr dem Ijob aus dem Wettersturm und sprach:	6 Scatter the proud in thy indignation, and behold every arrogant man, and humble him.
7 Auf, gürte deine Lenden wie ein Mann! Ich will dich fragen, du belehre mich!	7 Look on all that are proud, and confound them, and crush the wicked in their place.
8 Willst du wirklich mein Recht zerbrechen, mich schuldig sprechen, damit du Recht behältst?	8 Hide them in the dust together, and plunge their faces into the pit.
9 Hast du denn einen Arm wie Gott, dröhnst du wie er mit Donnerstimme?	9 Then I will confess that thy right hand is able to save thee.
10 So schmücke dich mit Hoheit und mit Majestät und kleide dich in Prunk und Pracht!	10 Behold behemoth whom I made with thee, he eateth grass like an ox.
11 Lass die Fluten deines Zornes sich ergießen, schau an jeden Stolzen, demütige ihn!	11 His strength is in his loins, and his force in the navel of his belly.
12 Schau an jeden Stolzen, zwing ihn nieder! Zertritt die Frevler auf der Stelle!	12 He setteth up his tail like a cedar, the sinews of his testicles are wrapped together.
13 Verbirg sie insgesamt im Staub, schließ sie leibhaftig im Erdinnern ein!	13 His bones are like pipes of brass, his gristle like plates of iron.
14 Dann werde auch ich dich preisen, weil deine Rechte den Sieg dir verschaffte.	14 He is the beginning of the ways of God, who made him, he will apply his sword.
15 Sieh doch das Nilpferd, das ich wie dich erschuf. Gras frisst es wie ein Rind.	15 To him the mountains bring forth grass : there all the beasts of the field shall play.
16 Sieh doch die Kraft in seinen Lenden und die Stärke in den Muskeln seines Leibs!	16 He sleepeth under the shadow, in the covert of the reed, and in moist places.
17 Wie eine Zeder lässt es hängen seinen Schwanz; straff sind verflochten seiner Schenkel Sehnen.	17 The shades cover his shadow, the willows of the brook shall compass him about.
18 Seine Knochen sind Röhren von Erz, wie Eisenstangen sein Gebein.	18 Behold, he will drink up a river, and not wonder : and he trusteth that the Jordan may run into his mouth.
19 Es ist der Anfang der Wege Gottes; der es gemacht hat, gab ihm sein Schwert.	19 In his eyes as with a hook he shall take him, and bore through his nostrils with stakes.
20 Doch die Berge tragen ihm Futter zu und alle Tiere des Feldes spielen dort.	20 Canst thou draw out the leviathan with a hook, or canst thou tie his tongue with a cord?
21 Es lagert unter Kreuzdornbüschen, in dem Versteck von Schilf und Sumpf.	21 Canst thou put a ring in his nose, or bore through his jaw with a buckle?
22 Kreuzdornbüsche decken es mit Schatten, die Pappeln am Fluss umgeben es.	22 Will he make many supplications to thee, or speak soft words to thee?
23 Schwillt auch der Fluss, es zittert nicht, bleibt ruhig, wenn auch die Flut ihm ins Maul dringt.	23 Will he make a covenant with thee, and wilt thou take him to be a servant for ever?
24 Kann man an den Augen es fassen, mit Haken ihm die Nase durchbohren?	24 Shalt thou play with him as with a bird, or tie him up for thy handmaids?
25 Kannst du das Krokodil am Angelhaken ziehen, mit der Leine seine Zunge niederdrücken?	25 Shall friends cut him in pieces, shall merchants divide him?
26 Legst du ein Binsenseil ihm in die Nase, durchbohrst du mit einem Haken seine Backe?	26 Wilt thou fill nets with his skin, and the cabins of fishes with his head?
27 Fleht es dich groß um Gnade an? Richtet es zärtliche Worte an dich?	27 Lay thy hand upon him : remember the battle, and speak no more.
28 Schließt es einen Pakt mit dir, sodass du es dauernd nehmen kannst zum Knecht?	28 Behold his hope shall fail him, and in the sight of all he shall be cast down.
29 Kannst du mit ihm wie mit einem Vogel spielen, bindest du es für deine Mädchen an?
30 Feilschen darum die Jagdgenossen, verteilen sie es stückweise unter die Händler?
31 Kannst du seine Haut mit Spießen spicken, mit einer Fischharpune seinen Kopf?
32 Leg nur einmal deine Hand daran! Denk an den Kampf! Du tust es nie mehr.
