Isaia 2

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Verbum, quod vidit Isaias filius Amos super Iudam et Ieru salem.	1 The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 Et erit in novissimis diebus praeparatus mons domus Domini in vertice montium, et elevabitur super colles; et fluent ad eum omnes gentes.	2 It wil happen in the final days that the mountain of Yahweh's house wil rise higher than the mountainsand tower above the heights. Then al the nations will stream to it,
3 Et ibunt populi multi et dicent: “ Venite, et ascendamus ad montem Domini, ad domum Dei Iacob, ut doceat nos vias suas, et ambulemus in semitis eius ”; quia de Sion exibit lex, et verbum Domini de Ierusalem.	3 many peoples will come to it and say, 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house ofthe God of Jacob that he may teach us his ways so that we may walk in his paths.' For the Law wil issue fromZion and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.
4 Et iudicabit gentes et arguet populos multos; et conflabunt gladios suos in vomeres et lanceas suas in falces; non levabit gens contra gentem gladium, nec exercebuntur ultra ad proelium.	4 Then he wil judge between the nations and arbitrate between many peoples. They wil hammer theirswords into ploughshares and their spears into sickles. Nation wil not lift sword against nation, no longer wilthey learn how to make war.
5 Domus Iacob, venite, et ambulemus in lumine Domini.	5 House of Jacob, come, let us walk in Yahweh's light.
6 Proiecisti enim populum tuum, domum Iacob, quia repleti sunt hariolis orientalibus et augures habuerunt ut Philisthim et manus alienis porrigunt.	6 You have rejected your people, the House of Jacob, for it has long been ful of sorcerers like thePhilistines, and is overrun with foreigners.
7 Repleta est terra eius argento et auro, et non est finis thesaurorum eius;	7 The country is ful of silver and gold and treasures unlimited, the country is ful of horses, its chariots areunlimited;
8 et repleta est terra eius equis, et innumerabiles quadrigae eius; et repleta est terra eius idolis: opus manuum suarum adoraverunt, quod fecerunt digiti eorum.	8 the country is full of idols. They bow down before the work of their hands, before what their own fingershave made.
9 Et incurvavit se homo, et humiliatus est vir: ne dimittas eis.	9 Human nature has been humbled, humankind brought low: do not raise them again!
10 Ingredere in petram, abscondere in pulvere a facie timoris Domini et a gloria maiestatis eius.	10 Go into the rock, hide in the dust, in terror of Yahweh, at the bril iance of his majesty, when he arises tomake the earth quake.
11 Oculi sublimes hominis humiliabuntur, et incurvabitur altitudo virorum; exaltabitur autem Dominus solus in die illa.	11 Human pride wil lower its eyes, human arrogance will be humbled, and Yahweh alone wil be exalted,on that day.
12 Quia dies Domini exercituum super omnem superbum et excelsum et super omnem arrogantem, et humiliabitur;	12 That wil be a day for Yahweh Sabaoth, for all who are majestic and haughty, for al who are proud, tobe brought low,
13 et super omnes cedros Libani sublimes et erectas et super omnes quercus Basan	13 for all the cedars of Lebanon, high and proud, and for al the oaks of Bashan;
14 et super omnes montes excelsos et super omnes colles elevatos	14 for all the high mountains and for al the proud hil s;
15 et super omnem turrim excelsam et super omnem murum munitum	15 for every lofty tower and for every towering wal ;
16 et super omnes naves Tharsis et super omnia navigia pulchra.	16 for all the ships of Tarshish and for everything held precious.
17 Et incurvabitur sublimitas hominum, et humiliabitur altitudo virorum; et elevabitur Dominus solus in die illa,	17 Human pride wil be humbled, human arrogance brought low, and Yahweh alone wil be exalted, on thatday.
18 et idola penitus conterentur.	18 When the idols al disappear,
19 Et introibunt in speluncas petrarum et in voragines terrae a facie formidinis Domini et a gloria maiestatis eius, cum surrexerit percutere terram.	19 they wil go into the caverns of the rocks and into the fissures of the earth in terror of Yahweh, at thebrilliance of his majesty, when he arises to make the earth quake.
20 In die illa proiciet homo idola sua argentea et simulacra sua aurea, quaefecerat sibi, ut adoraret, ad talpas et vespertiliones.	20 That day, people wil fling to moles and bats the silver idols and golden idols which have been made forthem to worship,
21 Et ingredieturscissuras petrarum et cavernas saxorum a facie formidinis Domini et a gloriamaiestatis eius, cum surrexerit percutere terram.	21 and go into the crevices of the rocks and the clefts in the cliffs, in terror of Yahweh, at the brilliance ofhis majesty, when he arises to make the earth quake.
22 Quiescite ergo ab homine,cuius spiritus in naribus eius. Quanti enim aestimabitur ipse?	22 Have no more to do with humankind, which has only the breath in its nostrils. How much is this worth?
