1 ואלה תולדת בני נח שם חם ויפת ויולדו להם בנים אחר המבול	1 These are the descendants of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, to whom sons were born afterthe flood:
2 בני יפת גמר ומגוג ומדי ויון ותבל ומשך ותירס	2 Japheth's sons: Gomer, Magog, the Medes, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, Tiras.
3 ובני גמר אשכנז וריפת ותגרמה	3 Gomer's sons: Ashkenaz, Riphath, Togarmah.
4 ובני יון אלישה ותרשיש כתים ודדנים	4 Javan's sons: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim, the Dananites.
5 מאלה נפרדו איי הגוים בארצתם איש ללשנו למשפחתם בגויהם	5 From these came the dispersal to the islands of the nations. These were Japheth's sons, in theirrespective countries, each with its own language, by clan and nation.
6 ובני חם כוש ומצרים ופוט וכנען	6 Ham's sons: Cush, Mizraim, Put, Canaan.
7 ובני כוש סבא וחוילה וסבתה ורעמה וסבתכא ובני רעמה שבא ודדן	7 Cush's sons: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, Sabteca. Raamah's sons: Sheba, Dedan.
8 וכוש ילד את נמרד הוא החל להיות גבר בארץ	8 Cush fathered Nimrod who was the first potentate on earth.
9 הוא היה גבר ציד לפני יהוה על כן יאמר כנמרד גבור ציד לפני יהוה	9 He was a mighty hunter in the eyes of Yahweh, hence the saying, 'Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter in theeyes of Yahweh'.
10 ותהי ראשית ממלכתו בבל וארך ואכד וכלנה בארץ שנער	10 The mainstays of his empire were Babel, Erech and Accad, all of them in the land of Shinar.
11 מן הארץ ההוא יצא אשור ויבן את נינוה ואת רחבת עיר ואת כלח	11 From this country came Asshur, and he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
12 ואת רסן בין נינוה ובין כלח הוא העיר הגדלה	12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (this being the capital).
13 ומצרים ילד את לודים ואת ענמים ואת להבים ואת נפתחים	13 Mizraim fathered the people of Lud, of Anam, Lehab, Naphtuh,
14 ואת פתרסים ואת כסלחים אשר יצאו משם פלשתים ואת כפתרים	14 Pathros, Casluh and Caphtor, from which the Philistines came.
15 וכנען ילד את צידן בכרו ואת חת	15 Canaan fathered Sidon, his first-born, then Heth,
16 ואת היבוסי ואת האמרי ואת הגרגשי	16 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, Girgashites,
17 ואת החוי ואת הערקי ואת הסיני	17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,
18 ואת הארודי ואת הצמרי ואת החמתי ואחר נפצו משפחות הכנעני	18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later, the Canaanite clans spread out.
19 ויהי גבול הכנעני מצידן באכה גררה עד עזה באכה סדמה ועמרה ואדמה וצבים עד לשע	19 The Canaanite frontier stretched from Sidon al the way to Gerar near Gaza, and al the way toSodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboi m near Lesha.
20 אלה בני חם למשפחתם ללשנתם בארצתם בגויהם	20 These were Ham's sons, by clans and languages, by countries and nations.
21 ולשם ילד גם הוא אבי כל בני עבר אחי יפת הגדול	21 Shem too fathered sons, being ancestor of all the sons of Eber and Japheth's elder brother.
22 בני שם עילם ואשור וארפכשד ולוד וארם	22 Shem's sons: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, Aram.
23 ובני ארם עוץ וחול וגתר ומש	23 Aram's sons: Uz, Hul, Gether and Mash.
24 וארפכשד ילד את שלח ושלח ילד את עבר	24 Arpachshad fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber.
25 ולעבר ילד שני בנים שם האחד פלג כי בימיו נפלגה הארץ ושם אחיו יקטן	25 To Eber were born two sons: the first was cal ed Peleg, because it was in his time that the earth wasdivided, and his brother was called Joktan.
26 ויקטן ילד את אלמודד ואת שלף ואת חצרמות ואת ירח	26 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27 ואת הדורם ואת אוזל ואת דקלה	27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28 ואת עובל ואת אבימאל ואת שבא	28 Obal, Abima-El, Sheba,
29 ואת אופר ואת חוילה ואת יובב כל אלה בני יקטן	29 Ophir, Havilah, Jobab; al these were sons of Joktan.
30 ויהי מושבם ממשא באכה ספרה הר הקדם	30 They occupied a stretch of country from Mesha all the way to Sephar, the eastern mountain range.
31 אלה בני שם למשפחתם ללשנתם בארצתם לגויהם	31 These were Shem's sons, by clans and languages, by countries and nations.
32 אלה משפחת בני נח לתולדתם בגויהם ומאלה נפרדו הגוים בארץ אחר המבול	32 Such were the clans of Noah's descendants, listed by descent and nation. From them, other nationsbranched out on earth after the flood.
