Seconda lettera a Timoteo 3

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Or dunque sappi che negl'ultimi giorni verranno dei tempi difficili;	1 You may be quite sure that in the last days there will be some difficult times.
2 perchè gli uomini saranno egoisti, avari, vanitosi, superbi, bestemmiatori, disobbedienti ai genitori, ingrati, scellerati,	2 People wil be self-centred and avaricious, boastful, arrogant and rude; disobedient to their parents,ungrateful, irreligious;
3 senza amore, senza pace, calunniatori, incontinenti, crudeli, senza umanità,	3 heartless and intractable; they wil be slanderers, profligates, savages and enemies of everything that isgood;
4 traditori, protervi, gonfi, amanti più dei piaceri che di Dio,	4 they wil be treacherous and reckless and demented by pride, preferring their own pleasure to God.
5 colle apparenze di pietà, ma rinnegatori di ciò che ne costituisce l'essenza. Fuggi anche questi,	5 They wil keep up the outward appearance of religion but wil have rejected the inner power of it. Keepaway from people like that.
6 perchè son di costoro quelli che s'insinuano nelle famiglie e accalappiano delle donnicciole cariche di peccati, agitate da ogni sorta di passioni,	6 Of the same kind, too, are those men who insinuate themselves into families in order to get influenceover sil y women who are obsessed with their sins and follow one craze after another,
7 che, sempre a imparare, non giungono mai alla conoscenza della verità.	7 always seeking learning, but unable ever to come to knowledge of the truth.
8 Questi, come Ianne e Mambre s'opposero a Mosè, resistono alla verità, essendo uomini corrotti di mente e già reprobi nella fede;	8 Just as Jannes and Jambres defied Moses, so these men defy the truth, their minds corrupt and theirfaith spurious.
9 ma non andranno tanto avanti senza che si manifesti a tutti la loro follia, come avvenne appunto a quei due.	9 But they will not be able to go on much longer: their fol y, like that of the other two, must become obviousto everybody.
10 Ma tu conosci bene la mia dottrina, la mia condotta, i propositi, la fede, la longanimità, l'amore, la pazienza,	10 You, though, have followed my teaching, my way of life, my aims, my faith, my patience and my love,my perseverance
11 le persecuzioni, i patimenti, quali cose mi accaddero ad Antiochia, ad Iconio, a Listri, quali persecuzioni io abbia sostenuto; e da tutte mi ha liberato il Signore.	11 and the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in places like Antioch, Iconium and Lystra -- althe persecutions I have endured; and the Lord has rescued me from every one of them.
12 Tutti quelli che vogliono vivere piamente in Cristo Gesù saran perseguitati.	12 But anybody who tries to live in devotion to Christ is certain to be persecuted;
13 Ma i malvagi e gl'impostori andranno di male in peggio, ingannati e ingannatori.	13 while these wicked impostors wil go from bad to worse, deceiving others, and themselves deceived.
14 Ma tu attienti a quello che hai imparato e che ti è stato affidato, ricordando da chi hai imparato,	14 You must keep to what you have been taught and know to be true; remember who your teachers were,
15 e che sin dall'infanzia conosci le sacre lettere, le quali possono darti la sapienza che conduce alla salute, mediante la fede che è in Cristo Gesù.	15 and how, ever since you were a child, you have known the holy scriptures -from these you can learnthe wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 Ogni scrittura, divinamente ispirata, è utile a insegnare, a redarguire, a correggere, a educare alla giustizia,	16 Al scripture is inspired by God and useful for refuting error, for guiding people's lives and teachingthem to be upright.
17 a far sì che l'uomo di Dio sia perfetto e pronto ad ogni opera buona.	17 This is how someone who is dedicated to God becomes ful y equipped and ready for any good work.
