Deuteronomio 34

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E Mosè salì dalle pianure di Moab sul monte Nebo, alla cima del Fasga, di faccia a Gerico. E il Signore gli fece vedere tutta la terra di Galaad sino a Dan,	1 Then, leaving the Plains of Moab, Moses went up Mount Nebo, the peak of Pisgah opposite Jericho,and Yahweh showed him the whole country: Gilead as far as Dan,
2 e tutta Neftali, e la terra di Efraim e di Manasse, e tutta la terra di Giuda fino al Mar d'occidente,	2 the whole of Naphtali, the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, the whole country of Judah as far as theWestern Sea,
3 la parte meridionale, e la spaziosa campagna di Gerico, città delle palme, fino a Segor.	3 the Negeb, and the region of the Val ey of Jericho, city of palm trees, as far as Zoar.
4 Poi il Signore gli disse: « Questa è la terra riguardo alla quale feci giuramento ad Abramo, ad Isacco, a Giacobbe, dicendo: La darò alla tua discendenza. Tu l'hai veduta coi tuoi occhi; ma non v'entrerai.	4 Yahweh said to him, 'This is the country which I promised on oath to give to Abraham, Isaac andJacob, saying: I shal give it to your descendants. I have al owed you to see it for yourself, but you wil not crossinto it.'
5 E Mosè servo del Signore mori lassù, nella terra di Moab, secondo il comando del Signore,	5 There in the country of Moab, Moses, servant of Yahweh, died as Yahweh decreed;
6 che lo seppellì nella valle della terra di Moab, di faccia a Fogor; ma nessuno fino ad oggi ha saputo dove sia il suo sepolcro.	6 he buried him in the val ey, in the country of Moab, opposite Beth-Peor; but to this day no one hasever found his grave.
7 Mosè aveva centoventi anni quando morì; ma nè gli s'era indebolita la vista, nè smossi i denti.	7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, his eye undimmed, his vigour unimpaired.
8 E i figli d'Israele lo piansero per trenta giorni nelle campagne di Moab, e furon compiti i giorni del lutto di quelli che piangevano Mosè.	8 The Israelites wept for Moses on the Plains of Moab for thirty days. The days of weeping for themourning rites of Moses came to an end.
9 E Giosuè figlio di Nun fu ripieno dello Spirito di sapienza, perchè Mosè aveva posate sopra di lui le sue mani. E i figli d'Israele gli ubbidirono, e fecero come il Signore aveva comandato a Mosè.	9 Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him, and himthe Israelites obeyed, carrying out the order which Yahweh had given to Moses.
10 Non è più sorto in Israele alcun profeta simile a Mosè nel conoscere il Signore faccia a faccia,	10 Since then, there has never been such a prophet in Israel as Moses, the man whom Yahweh knewface to face.
11 nel fare tutti quei prodigi e miracoli che per ordine suo compì nella terra d'Egitto, davanti a Faraone, a tuttii suoi servi e a tutto il suo paese,	11 What signs and wonders Yahweh caused him to perform in Egypt against Pharaoh, al his servantsand his whole country!
12 nell'operare con gran mano potente quelle grandi e mirabili cose che Mosè fece davanti a tutto Israele.	12 How mighty the hand and great the fear that Moses wielded in the eyes of al Israel!
