Deuteronomio 28

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Or se ascolterai la voce del Signore Dio tuo, se ne metterai in pratica e ne osserverai i comandamenti che oggi io ti prescrivo il Signore Dio fino ti farà eccelso fra tutte le nazioni che sono sopra la terra;	1 'But if you faithful y obey the voice of Yahweh your God, by keeping and observing al hiscommandments, which I am laying down for you today, Yahweh your God wil raise you higher than every othernation in the world,
2 e tutte queste benedizioni verranro sopra di te, si compiranno in te, dato però che tu ascolti i suoi precetti.	2 and al these blessings wil befal and overtake you, for having obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God.
3 Sarai benedetto nella città e benedetto nella campagna.	3 'You wil be blessed in the town and blessed in the countryside;
4 Benedetto il frutto del tuo seno, il frutto della tua terra, il frutto dei tuoi bestiami, le mandre dei tuoi armenti, i greggi delle tue pecore.	4 blessed, the offspring of your body, the yield of your soil, the yield of your livestock, the young of yourcattle and the increase of your flocks;
5 Benedetti i tuoi granai, benedette le tue riserve.	5 blessed, your basket and your kneading trough.
6 Sarai benedetto nell'entrare e nell'uscire.	6 You wil be blessed in coming home, and blessed in going out.
7 Il Signore ti farà cadere davanti i nemici che ti si son levati contro; verranno a te per una sola via; ma per sette fuggiranno dal tuo cospetto.	7 The enemies who attack you, Yahweh wil defeat before your eyes; they wil advance on you from onedirection and flee from you in seven.
8 Il Signore manderà la sua benedizione nelle tue dispense e sopra tutti i lavori delle tue mani,	8 Yahweh wil command blessedness to be with you, on your barns and on al your undertakings, andhe wil bless you in the country given you by Yahweh your God.
9 e ti benedirà nella terra come popolo santo, come egli ti ha giurato, se però tu osservi i comandamenti del Signore Dio tuo, e cammini nelle sue vie,	9 'From you Yahweh wil make a people consecrated to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you keep thecommandments of Yahweh your God and fol ow his ways.
10 e tutti i popoli della terra, vedendo che il nome del Signore è invocato sopra di te, ti temeranno.	10 The peoples of the world, seeing that you bear Yahweh's name, wil al be afraid of you.
11 Il Signore ti colmerà d'ogni bene: del frutto del tuo seno, del frutto dei tuoi bestiami, del frutto della tua terra che il Signore giurò ai tuoi padri di darti.	11 Yahweh wil make you abound in possessions: in the offspring of your body, in the yield of your cattleand in the yield of your soil, in the country which he swore to your ancestors that he would give you.
12 Il Signore aprirà il suo ottimo tesoro, il cielo, per dare a suo tempo la pioggia alla tua terra, e ti benedirà in tutte le opere delle tue mani. E tu presterai a molte genti, senza prendere in prestito da nessuno.	12 For you Yahweh wil open his treasury of rain, the heavens, to give your country its rain at the righttime, and to bless al your labours. You wil make many nations your subjects, yet you wil be subject to none.
13 Il Signore ti metterà alla testa e non in coda; tu sarai sempre in alto e mai in basso; se però ascolterai i comandamenti del Signore Dio tuo, che oggi ti prescrivo, se li osserverai e metterai in pratica,	13 Yahweh wil put you at the head, not at the tail; you wil always be on top and never underneath, ifyou listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am laying down for you today, and then keepthem and put them into practice,
14 senza torcer da essi nè a destra nè a sinistra, senza seguire dèi stranieri, senza adorarli.	14 not deviating to right or to left from any of the words which I am laying down for you today, byfol owing other gods and serving them.
15 Ma se non vorrai ascoltare la voce del Signore Dio tuo, e non ti curerai di mettere in pratica tutti i suoi comandamenti e le sue cerimonie che oggi ti prescrivo, tutte queste maledizioni verranno sopra di te e ti arriveranno.	15 'But if you do not obey the voice of Yahweh your God, and do not keep and observe all hiscommandments and laws which I am laying down for you today then all these curses wil befall and overtakeyou.
16 Sarai maledetto nella città, maledétto nella campagna;	16 'You wil be accursed in the town and accursed in the countryside;
17 maledetto il tuo granaio e ma ledetti i tuoi avanzi;	17 accursed, your basket and your kneading trough;
18 maledetto il frutto del tuo seno, il frutto della tua terra, le mandre dei tuoi buoi e i greggi delle tue pecore.	18 accursed, the offspring of your body, the yield of your soil, the young of your cattle and the increaseof your flock.
19 Sarai maledetto nell'entrare e nell'uscire.	19 You wil be accursed in coming home, and accursed in going out.
20 Il Signore manderà sopra di te la fame e la carestia, e la maledizione sopra tutte le opere che farai, finché tu non sia distrutto, annientato a causa delle tue pessime invenzioni, per le quali tu m'hai abbandonato.	20 'Yahweh wil send a curse on you, a spel , an imprecation on al your labours until you have beendestroyed and quickly perish, because of your perverse behaviour, for having deserted me.
21 Il Signore ti aggiunga a peste, finché essa non t'abbia sterminato dalla terra nella quale entrerai per possederla.	21 Yahweh wil fasten the plague on you, until it has exterminated you from the country which you areabout to enter and make your own.
22 Ti percuota il Signore colla povertà, colla febbre, col freddo, col calore, colla siccità, coll'aria corrotta e colla ruggine, e ti perseguiti finché tu non sia perito.	22 Yahweh wil strike you down with consumption, fever, inflammation, burning fever, drought, wind-blast, mildew, and these wil pursue you to your ruin.
23 Sia di bronzo il cielo che ti sovrasta, e di ferro la terra che tu calpesti.	23 The heavens above you wil be brass, the earth beneath you iron.
24 Il Signore mandi sabbia invece di pioggia alla tua terra, e dal cielo ti cada addosso della cenere, finché tu non sia distrutto.	24 Your country's rain Yahweh wil turn into dust and sand; it will fal on you from the heavens until youperish.
25 Il Signore ti faccia cadere davanti ai tuoi nemici e tu, uscito per una sola via contro di essi, te ne fugga per sette. Tu sia disperso per tutti i popoli della terra.	25 Yahweh wil have you defeated by your enemies; you will advance on them from one direction andflee from them in seven; and you wil be a terrifying object-lesson to al the kingdoms of the world.
26 Sia il tuo cadavere in pasto a tutti gli uccelli del cielo e alle bestie della terra, e non vi sia chi le discacci.	26 Your carcase will be carrion for al wild birds and al wild animals, with no one to scare them away.
27 Ti percuota il Signore coll'ulcere d'Egitto, e nella parte del corpo da cui escon gli escrementi, e colla scabbia, e col prurito da cui tu non possa guarire.	27 'Yahweh wil strike you down with Egyptian ulcers, with swel ings in the groin, with scurvy and theitch, for which you wil find no cure.
28 Ti percuota il Signore colla demenza, colla cecità, col delirio,	28 Yahweh wil strike you down with madness, blindness, distraction of mind,
29 se tu vada a tastoni in pieno meriggio, come un cieco brancolante nel buio, e non possa trovar le tue vie. Tu sia in ogni tempo vittima della calunnia, oppresso dalla violenza, senza aver chi te ne liberi.	29 until you grope your way at noon like a blind man groping in the dark, and your steps will lead younowhere. 'You will never be anything but exploited and plundered, with no one to save you.
30 Quando prendi moglie, un altro giaccia con lei; se fabbrichi una casa, l'abiti un altro: se pianti una vigna, non ne possa godere il frutto.	30 Get engaged to a woman, another man will have her; build a house, you wil not live in it; plant avineyard, you wil not gather its first-fruits.
31 Il tuo bue sia immolato davanti a te, senza che tu possa mangiarne le carni. Ti sia rapito in presenza l'asino, senza esserti restituito. Le tue pecore sian date ai tuoi nemici, e non vi sia chi ti soccorra.	31 Your ox wil be slaughtered before your eyes and you will eat none of it; your donkey wil be carriedoff in front of you and not be returned to you; your sheep wil be given to your enemies, and no one will come toyour help.
32 I tuoi figli e le tue figlie sian date a un popolo straniero, e lo vedano tuoi occhi, e vengan meno a mirarli tutto il giorno; ma non vi sia forza nella tua mano.	32 Your sons and daughters wil be handed over to another people, and every day you will wear youreyes out watching for them, while your hands are powerless.
33 Un popolo a te ignoto mangi i frutti della tua terra e di tutte le tue fatiche: tu sia sempre vittima della calunnia e dell'oppressione,	33 A nation hitherto unknown to you wil eat the yield of your soil and of all your hard work. You wilnever be anything but exploited and crushed.
34 e fuor di te per l'orror di quei che vedranno i tuoi occhi.	34 You wil be driven mad by the sights you wil see.
35 Il Signore ti percuota con ulcera maligna nelle ginocchia e nelle gambe, e tu non possa esser curato dalla pianta dei piedi sino al vertice del capo,	35 Yahweh wil strike you down with foul ulcers on knee and leg, for which you wil find no cure -- fromthe sole of your foot to the top of your head.
36 il Signore ti condurrà col tuo re da te eletto, in una nazione che nè tu nè i tuoi padri avete conosciuta, ed ivi servirai a dèi stranieri, al legno e alla pietra.	36 'Yahweh wil send away both you and the king whom you have appointed to rule you to a nationunknown either to you or to your ancestors, and there you will serve other gods, made of wood and stone.
37 Sarai disperso, e diverrai la favola e il proverbio di tutti i popoli tra i quali il Signore ti avrà condotto.	37 And you wil be the astonishment, the byword, the laughing-stock of al the peoples where Yahweh istaking you.
38 Seminerai molto, ma raccoglierai poco, perchè tutto sarà divorato dalle locuste,	38 'You wil cast seed in plenty on the fields but harvest little, since the locust wil devour it.
39 pianterai la vigna e vi lavorerai; ma non ne berrai il vino, non vi raccoglierai nulla; perchè sarà devastata dai vermi.	39 You wil plant and till your vineyards but not drink the wine or gather the grapes, since the grub willeat them up.
40 Sebbene tu abbia degli ulivi in tutte le tue terre, non potrai ungerti d'olio, perchè le ulive cadranno e andranno a male.	40 You wil grow olive trees throughout your territory but not anoint yourself with the oil, since your olivetrees wil be cut down.
41 Tu genererai figli e figlie; ma non li potrai godere, perchè saranno menati in schiavitù.	41 You wil father sons and daughters but they will not belong to you, since they wil go into captivity.
42 La ruggine consumerà tutti i tuoi alberi e i frutti della tua terra.	42 Al your trees and the whole yield of your soil will be the prey of insects.
43 Il forestiero che abita con te nel paese salirà sopra di te e diverrà più potente, e tu andrai in basso e starai al di sotto.	43 'The foreigners living with you wil rise higher and higher at your expense, while you yourself sinklower and lower.
44 Egli presterà a te, e tu non potrai prestare a lui, egli sarà capo e tu coda.	44 You wil be subject to them, not they to you; they wil be the ones at the head, and you the one at thetail.
45 E tutte queste maledizioni verranno sopra di te, e ti staranno addosso finché non ti abbian distrutto per non avere ascoltato la voce del Signore Dio tuo, e non averne osservati i comandamenti e le cerimonie che ti prescrisse.	45 'Al these curses wil befal you, pursue you and overtake you until you have been destroyed, for nothaving obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping his commandments and laws which he has laid downfor you.
46 Esse rimarranno sopra di te e della tua discendenza, come segni e prodigi in perpetuo.	46 They wil be a sign and a wonder over you and your descendants for ever.
47 Siccome non hai servito al Signore Dio tuo nella gioia, e nella letizia del cuore, in mezzo all'abbondanza d'ogni cosa;	47 'For not having joyful y and with happy heart served Yahweh your God, despite the abundance ofeverything,
48 tu servirai al tuo nemico mandato contro di te dal Signore,nella fame, nella sete, nella nudità, nella mancanza di tutto, ed egli ti metterà sopra il collo un giogo di ferro sino a che tu non sia schiacciato.	48 you will have to serve the enemy whom Yahweh wil send against you, in hunger, thirst, lack ofclothing and total privation. He will put an iron yoke on your neck, until he has destroyed you.
49 Da lontano, dagli ultimi confini della terra, il Signore farà piombare sopra di te, come aquila che vola impetuosamente,	49 'Against you Yahweh wil raise a distant nation from the ends of the earth like an eagle taking wing: anation whose language you do not understand,
50 una nazione di cui non potrai intendere la lingua, souna nazione piena d'arroganza, che non ha rispetto al vecchio, nè compassione pel fanciullo.	50 a nation grim of face, with neither respect for the old, nor pity for the young.
51 Essa divorerà il frutto dei tuoi bestiame e le biade della tua terra, finché non ti abbia fatto perire. Non ti lascerà nè grano, nè vino, nè olio, nè mandre di buoi, nè greggi di pecore, finché non ti abbia disperso;	51 He wil eat the yield of your cattle and the yield of your soil until you have been destroyed; he willleave you neither wheat, nor wine, nor oil, nor the young of your cattle, nor increase of your flock, until he hasmade an end of you.
52 e ti schiaccerà nelle tue città finché non sian distrutte le tue mura solide e alte nelle quali avevi fiducia in tutta la tua terra. Tu sarai assediato dentro le tue porte in tutta la terra che il Signore Dio tuo ti darà;	52 He wil besiege you inside al your towns until your loftiest and most strongly fortified walls collapse,on which, throughout your country, you have relied. He wil besiege you inside al the towns throughout yourcountry, given you by Yahweh your God.
53 e mangerai il frutto delle tue viscere, le carni dei figli e delle figlie che il Signore Dio tuo ti avrà date, nell'angustia e nella desolazione con cui ti opprimerà il tuo nemico.	53 During the siege and in the distress to which your enemy wil reduce you, you wil eat the offspring ofyour own body, the flesh of the sons and daughters given you by Yahweh your God.
54 L'uomo fra voi più delicato e voluttuoso porterà invidia al proprio fratello, e alla moglie che riposa sul suo seno,	54 The gentlest and tenderest of your men wil scowl at his brother, and at the wife whom he embraces,and at his remaining children,
55 e non farà loro parte delle carni dei suoi figlioli, delle quali si ciberà, non avendo altro nell'assedio e nella penuria colla quale i tuoi nemici ti affliggeranno dentro tutte le tue porte.	55 not wil ing to give any of them any of his own children's flesh, which he is eating; because of thesiege and the distress to which your enemy wil reduce you in all your towns, he wil have nothing left.
56 La donna tenera e delicata che non poteva camminare sulla terra nè posarvi la pianta del piede per la sua eccessiva mollezza e delicatezza, rifiuterà al suo marito, che le riposa in seno, le carni del suo figlio e della sua figlia,	56 The most refined and fastidious of your women, so refined, so fastidious that she has never venturedto set the sole of her foot to the ground, wil scowl at the husband whom she embraces, and at her son anddaughter, and at the after-birth when it leaves her womb, and at the child to which she has given birth-
57 e rammasso di sozzure che escono dal suo ventre, e i figli allora nati; perchè stretti dalla penuria di ogni cosa nell'assedio e nella devastazione con cui ti opprimerà il tuo nemico dentro le tue porte, li mangeranno di nascosto.	57 she will hide away and eat them, so complete wil be the starvation resulting from the siege and thedistress to which your enemy wil reduce you in all your towns.
58 Se tu non custodirai e non metterai in pratica tutte le parole di questa legge, che sono scritte in questo volume, se non temerai il nome glorioso e terribile del Signore Dio tuo,	58 'If you do not keep and observe al the words of this Law, which are written in this book, in the fear ofthis glorious and awe-inspiring name: Yahweh your God,
59 il Signore aumenterà le tue piaghe e quelle della tua discendenza, piaghe grandi e ostinate, malori orrendi e perpetui.	59 Yahweh wil strike you down with monstrous plagues, you and your descendants: with plaguesgrievous and lasting, diseases pernicious and enduring.
60 E volgerà sopra di te tutte le malattie dell'Egitto, delle quali avevi tanta paura: esse ti si attaccheranno.	60 He wil afflict you with al the maladies of Egypt which you used to dread, and they wil fasten on you.
61 Di più il Signore farà piombare sopra di te tutte le altre malattie e piaghe che non sono scritte in questo libro della legge, finché tu non sia distrutto.	61 What is more, Yahweh wil afflict you with all the plagues and all the diseases not mentioned in thebook of this Law, until you have been destroyed.
62 E resterete in piccolo numero, voi che eravate numerosi come le stelle del cielo, perchè non ascoltasti la voce del Signore Dio tuo.	62 There will only be a smal group of you left, you who were once as numerous as the stars of heaven.'For not having obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God,
63 E come nel passato il Signore godeva nel farvi del bene e moltiplicarvi, così godrà nel disperdervi, nello sterminarvi, finché non siate svelti da quella terra della quale tu entrerai in possesso.	63 just as Yahweh used to delight in making you happy and in making your numbers grow, so wil hetake delight in ruining you and destroying you. You wil be torn from the country which you are about to enter andmake your own.
64 Il Signore ti disperderà fra tutte le genti, da un'estremità della terra fino all'altra, e là servirai a dèi stranieri non conosciuti nè da te, nè dai tuoi padri, ai legni e alle pietre.	64 Yahweh wil scatter you throughout every people, from one end of the earth to the other; there youwil serve other gods made of wood and stone, hitherto unknown either to you or to your ancestors.
65 Ma nemmeno tra quelle genti avrai requie, nè avrà riposo la pianta del tuo piede, chè il Signore là ti farà avere un cuor pauroso, e occhi smarriti, e anima consumata dalla tristezza:	65 Among these nations there wil be no repose for you, no rest for the sole of your foot; there Yahwehwil give you a quaking heart, weary eyes, halting breath.
66 vedrai la tua vita come sospesa ad un filo: notte e giorno tremerai per la tua vita punto sicura.	66 Your life ahead of you wil hang in doubt; you wil be afraid day and night, uncertain of your life.
67 La mattina dirai: Oh, fosse sera! E la sera: Oh, fosse mattina! per lo spavento che ti sbigottisce il cuore, per le cose che vedrai coi tuoi occhi.	67 In the morning you wil say, "How I wish it were evening!", and in the evening you will say, "How I wish it were morning!", such terror will grip your heart and such sights you wil see!
68 Il Signore ti ricondurrà su navi in Egitto, per la via della quale egli t'ha detto che non la rivedresti mai più. Ivi sarete venduti ai vostri nemici come schiavi e schiave e non ci sarà chi vi compri.	68 Yahweh wil send you back to Egypt, either by ship or by a road which I promised you would neversee again. And there you wil want to offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as serving men and women, butno one wil buy you.'
	69 These are the words of the covenant which Yahweh ordered Moses to make with the Israelites inMoab, in addition to the covenant which he had made with them at Horeb.
