Deuteronomio 18

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 I sacerdoti, i leviti e tutti quelli della tribù di Levi non avran parte nè eredità col resto d'Israele, perchè devono vivere coi sacrifizi del Signore e colle offerte che sono a lui fatte;	1 'The levitical priests, the whole tribe of Levi wil be without share or heritage of their own in Israel; theywil live on the foods offered to Yahweh and on his heritage.
2 nulla avranno tra i possessi dei loro fratelli, perchè il Signore è la loro eredità, come egli ha loro detto.	2 Levi wil have no heritage of his own among his brothers; Yahweh will be his heritage, as he haspromised him.
3 Questo sarà il diritto dei sacerdoti sul popolo e su quelli che offrono le vittime: se immolano un bue o una pecora, daranno al sacerdote la spalla e il petto.	3 'This is what is due to the priests from the people, from those who offer an ox or a sheep in sacrifice:the priest must be given the shoulder, the cheeks and the stomach.
4 Gli darai le primizie del frumento, del vino, dell'olio, e una parte delle lane della tosatura delle pecore;	4 You must give him the first-fruits of your wheat, of your new wine and of your oil, as wel as the first-fruits of your sheep-shearing.
5 perchè il Signore Dio tuo lo ha eletto fra tutte le tribù, affinchè assista e ministri al nome del Signore, egli e i suoi figli in perpetuo.	5 For Yahweh your God has chosen him from all your tribes to stand before Yahweh your God, to do theduties of the sacred ministry, and to bless in Yahweh's name -- him and his sons for al time.
6 Se un levita esce da una delle tue città della parte d'Israele ove abita, per andare, secondo il suo desiderio, al o luogo che il Signore avrà scelto,	6 'If a Levite living in one of your towns anywhere in Israel decides to move to the place chosen byYahweh,
7 eserciterà il ministero del nome del Signore Dio tuo, come tutti i fratelli leviti che i staranno in quel tempo davanti al Signore;	7 he shal minister there in the name of Yahweh his God like al his fel ow Levites who stand ministering there in the presence of Yahweh,
8 riceverà la sua parte di cibo come gli altri, oltre quello che gli è dovuto nella sua città per successione paterna.	8 eating equal shares with them -- what he has from the sale of his patrimony notwithstanding.
9 Quando tu sarai entrato nella terra à che il Signore Dio tuo ti darà, guardati dall'imitare le abbominazioni di quelle o genti.	9 'When you have entered the country given you by Yahweh your God, you must not learn to imitate thedetestable practices of the nations there already.
10 Non vi sia tra voi chi faccia passare il figlio o la figlia per il fuoco, chi o interroghi gl'indovini, chi osservi i sogni e gli auguri, chi faccia malefizi,	10 There must never be anyone among you who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire ofsacrifice, who practises divination, who is soothsayer, augur or sorcerer,
11 nè chi sia incantatore, chi consulti i pitonici e gl'indovini, o domandi la verità ai morti;	11 weaver of spells, consulter of ghosts or mediums, or necromancer.
12 perchè il Signore abbomina tutte queste cose ed è per queste sceleratezze che egli sterminerà dinanzi a te quelle genti.	12 For anyone who does these things is detestable to Yahweh your God; it is because of thesedetestable practices that Yahweh your God is driving out these nations before you.
13 Sii perfetto e senza macchia col Signore Dio tuo.	13 'You must be faultless in your relationship with Yahweh your God.
14 Queste genti, delle quali possederai la terra, ascoltano gli auguri e gl'indovini; ma tu sei stato istruito in altra maniera dal Signore Dio tuo.	14 For these nations whom you are going to dispossess have listened to soothsayers and mediums, butYahweh your God does not permit you to do this. From among yourselves, from among your own brothers,
15 Il Signore Dio tuo ti susciterà, della tua nazione, dei tuoi fratelli come me, un profeta: ascoltalo.	15 Yahweh your God will raise up a prophet like me; you wil listen to him.
16 Così chiedesti al Signore Dio tuo presso l'Oreb, quando fu riunita l'assemblea, e dicesti: Che io non senta più la voce del Signore Dio mio, non vegga più questo grandissimo fuoco e non muoia.	16 This is exactly what you asked Yahweh your God to do -- at Horeb, on the day of the Assembly,when you said, "Never let me hear the voice of Yahweh my God or see this great fire again, or I shal die."
17 E il Signore mi disse: Hanno detto proprio bene;	17 Then Yahweh said to me,
18 ed io susciterò loro, di mezzo ai loro fratelli, un profeta simile a te; e porrò le mie parole nella sua bocca, ed egli dirà loro tutto quello che io gli avrò comandato.	18 "What they have said is wel said. From their own brothers I shal raise up a prophet like yourself;
19 E se qualcuno non vorrà ascoltare le parole che egli dirà in mio nome, ne farò vendetta io.	19 I shal put my words into his mouth and he wil tel them everything I command him. Anyone whorefuses to listen to my words, spoken by him in my name, wil have to render an account to me.
20 Ma il profeta che avrà la presunzione di dire in mio nome quello che io non gli ho comandato di dire, o parlerà a nome di dèi stranieri, sarà messo a morte.	20 But the prophet who presumes to say something in my name which I have not commanded him tosay, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die."
21 Se tu rispondessi in cuor tuo: Come farò a riconoscere la parola non detta dal Signore?	21 'You may be privately wondering, "How are we to tel that a prophecy does not come from Yahweh?"
22 eccone il segno: Se ciò che il profeta ha predetto nel nome del Signore non è avvenuto, il Signore non l'ha detto; ma l'ha inventato per la presunzione del suo animo il profeta, e quindi non lo temerai.	22 When a prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh and the thing does not happen and the word is notfulfil ed, then it has not been said by Yahweh. The prophet has spoken presumptuously. You have nothing tofear from him.'
