1 Appena fu conosciuto da tutto l'esercito che Oloferne era stato decapitato, essi rimasero senza ragione e senza consiglio, e non sentendo più che la paura e lo spavento, cercarono scampo nella fuga.	1 When the men who were stil in their tents heard the news they were appal ed.
2 Senza fiatare coi compagni, a capo basso, abbandonate tutte le loro cose, impazienti di sfuggire agli ebrei che sentivano venire armati sopra di loro, fuggivano attraverso i campi e pei sentieri delle colline.	2 Panic-stricken and trembling, no two of them could keep together, the rout was complete, with oneaccord they fled along every track across the plain or through the mountains.
3 I figli d'Israele, vedendoli fuggire, l'inseguirono, e discesero sonando le trombe e urlando dietro ad essi;	3 The men who had been bivouacking in the mountains round Bethulia were fleeing too. Then al theIsraelite warriors charged down on them.

10 Essa andò ad incontrarlo, e tutti la benedissero, ad una voce, dicendo: « Tu sei la gloria di Gerusalemme, tu la letizia d'Israele, tu l'onore del nostro popolo;	10 By doing all this with your own hand you have deserved wel of Israel, and God has approved whatyou have done. May you be blessed by the Lord Almighty in al the days to come! And the people al said,'Amen!'
11 perchè hai agito virilmente, e il tuo cuore è stato forte; perchè hai amato la castigtà e dopo il tuo matrimonio non hai conosciuto altro uomo, per dquesto la mano del Signore ti ha resa forte, per questo sarai begnedetta in eterno ».	11 The people looted the camp for thirty days. They gave Judith the tent of Holofernes, al his silver plate,his divans, his drinking bowls and all his furniture. She took this, loaded her mule, harnessed her carts andheaped the things into them.
12 Tutto il popolo disse: « Così sia, così sia! »	12 Al the women of Israel, hurrying to see her, formed choirs of dancers in her honour. Judith tookwands of vine-leaves in her hand and distributed them to the women who accompanied her;
13 Trenta giorni bastarono appena al popolo d'Israele per raccogliere le spoglie degli Assiri	13 she and her companions put on wreaths of olive. Then she took her place at the head of theprocession and led the women as they danced. Al the men of Israel, armed and garlanded, followed them,singing hymns.
14 e tutto ciò che fu riconosciuto come proprietà d'Oloferne, oro, argento, vestiti, gemme e mobili d'ogni specie, lo diedero a Giuditta, fu tutto consegnato a lei dal popolo.	14 With all Israel round her, Judith broke into this song of thanksgiving and the whole people sang thishymn:
15 E tutti i popoli face van festa colle donne, coliti vergini e coi giovani a suon d'organi e dì cetre.
