1 L'anno ventisettesimo di Geroboamo re di Israele, regnò Azaria, figlio di Amasia re di Giuada.	1 Azariah, son of Amaziah, king of Judah, became king in the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam, king of Israel.
2 Egli aveva sedici anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò i cinquantadue anni, in Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Iechelia, di Gerusalemme.	2 He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother, whose name was Jecholiah, was from Jerusalem.

5 Ma il Signore percosse il re, che fu lebbroso fino al giorno della sua morte, e fu costretto a stare in disparte in una casa separata, ed era Ioatan, figlio del re, quello che governava il palazzo o giudicava il popolo del paese.	5 The LORD afflicted the king, and he was a leper to the day of his death. He lived in a house apart, while Jotham, the king's son, was vizier and regent for the people of the land.

8 L'anno trentesimo ottavo di Azaria re di Giuda, regnò sopra Israele, in Samaria, per sei mesi, Zaccaria figlio di Geroboamo.	8 In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah, king of Judah, Zechariah, son of Jeroboam, was king of Israel in Samaria for six months.
9 Egli fece il male nel cospetto del Signore come i suoi padri, e non si rivolse dai peccati di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat, che fece peccare Israele;	9 He did evil in the sight of the LORD as his fathers had done, and did not desist from the sins which Jeroboam, son of Nebat, had caused Israel to commit.
10 ma Sellurn, figlio di labes, congiurò contro di lui, lo assalì pubblicamente, lo uccise e regnò in luogo suo.	10 Shallum, son of Jabesh, conspired against Zechariah, attacked and killed him at Ibleam, and reigned in his place.

12 Tali erano state le parole che il Signore aveva dette a Iehu: « I tuoi figli sederanno sul trono d'Israele fino alla quarta generazione ». E così avvenne.	12 Thus the LORD'S promise to Jehu, "Your descendants to the fourth generation shall sit upon the throne of Israel," was fulfilled.
13 Sellum figlio di Iabes regnò l'anno trigesimo nono di Azaria re di Giuda, e regnò per un mese solo in Samaria;	13 Shallum, son of Jabesh, became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah, king of Judah; he reigned one month in Samaria.
14 perchè Manahem, figlio di Gadi, salì da Tersa, e, venuto a Samaria, vi percosse Sellurn figlio di Iabes, lo Uccise e regnò in suo luogo.	14 Menahem, son of Gadi, came up from Tirzah to Samaria, where he attacked and killed Shallum, son of Jabesh, and reigned in his place.

16 I quel tempo Manahem percosse Tapsa con tutti i suoi abitanti, e tutto il suo territorio, da Tersa, perchè non avevan voluto aprirgli le porte, ne uccise tutte le donne incinte e poi le sventrò.	16 At that time, Menahem punished Tappuah, all the inhabitants of the town and of its whole district, because on his way from Tirzah they did not let him in. He punished them even to ripping open all the pregnant women.
17 Dall'anno trentesimo nono di Azaria re di Giuda, Manahem figlio di Gadi regnò sopra Israele, in Samaria, per dieci anni.	17 In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah, king of Judah, Menahem, son of Gadi, began his ten-year reign over Samaria.
18 Egli fece il male nel cospetto del Signore, non si rivolse dai peccati di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat che fece peccare Israele, per tutta la sua vita.	18 He did evil in the sight of the LORD, not desisting from the sins which Jeroboam, son of Nebat, had caused Israel to commit. During his reign,
19 Essendo venuto nei paese Fui re degli Assiri, Manahem gli diede mille talenti di argento, perchè gli desse aiuto e gli assicurasse il regno.	19 Pul, king of Assyria, invaded the land, and Menahem gave him a thousand talents of silver to have his assistance in strengthening his hold on the kingdom.
20 Manahem quest'argento da darsi al re degli Assiri lo levò dai potenti e dai ricchi d'Israele, cinquanta sicli d'argento, a testa. Così il re degli Assiri se ne ritornò via e non si fermò nel paese.	20 Menahem secured the money to give to the king of Assyria by exacting it from all the men of substance in the country, fifty silver shekels from each. The king of Assyria did not remain in the country but withdrew.

22 E Manahem s'addormentò coi suoi padri, e gli successe nel regno il suo figlio Faceia.	22 Menahem rested with his ancestors, and his son Pekahiah succeeded him as king.
23 Dall'anno cinquantesimo di Azaria re di Giuda, per due anni regnò sopra Israele, in Samaria, Faceia figlio di Manahem.	23 In the fiftieth year of Azariah, king of Judah, Pekahiah, son of Menahem, began his two-year reign over Israel in Samaria.
24 Egli fece il male nel cospetto del Signore, non si rivolse dai peccati di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat, che fece peccare Israele,	24 He did evil in the sight of the LORD, not desisting from the sins which Jeroboam, son of Nebat, had caused Israel to commit.
25 e il suo capitano, Facee, figlio di Romelia, congiurò contro di lui, lo percosse, in Samaria, nella torre della casa reale, vicino ad Argob e ad Arie, con cinquanta uomini di Galaad che aveva seco, lo uccise e regnò in suo luogo.	25 His adjutant Pekah, son of Remaliah, who had with him fifty men from Gilead, conspired against him, killed him within the palace stronghold in Samaria, and reigned in his place.

27 L'anno cinquantesimo secondo di Azaria re di Giuda, Facee, figlio di Romelia, regnò sopra Israele, in Samaria, per vent'anni.	27 In the fifty-second year of Azariah, king of Judah, Pekah, son of Remaliah, began his twenty-year reign over Israel in Samaria.
28 Egli fece il male nel cospetto del Signore e non si rivolse dai peccati di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat, che fece peccare Israele.	28 He did evil in the sight of the LORD, not desisting from the sins which Jeroboam, son of Nebat, had caused Israel to commit.
29 Al tempo di Facee re d'Israele venne Teglat-falasar re di Assur e prese Aion, Abel casa di Maaca, Ianoe, Cedes, Asor, Galaad, la Galilea, tutta la terra di Nettali, e ne trasportò gli abitanti in Assiria.	29 During the reign of Pekah, king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, came and took Ijon, Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, all the territory of Naphtali, Gilead, and Galilee, deporting the inhabitants to Assyria.
30 Osea, figlio di Eia, ordì una congiura contro Facee figlio di Romelia, lo percosse, lo uccise e regnò in suo luogo l'anno ventesimo di Ioatan figlio di Ozia.	30 Hoshea, son of Elah, conspired against Pekah, son of Remaliah; he attacked and killed him, and reigned in his place (in the twentieth year of Jotham, son of Uzziah).

33 Egli aveva venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò sedici anni in Gerusalemme. La sua madre si chiamava Ierusa, figlia di Sadoc.	33 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jerusha, daughter of Zadok.
34 Egli fece quel che era gradito nel cospetto del Signore, secondo tutto quello che aveva fatto Ozia suo padre;	34 He pleased the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done.
35 però non tolse gli alti luoghi, e il popolo seguitava a sacrificare e a bruciare incensi sugli alti luoghi. Egli fece fare la porta superiore della casa del Signore.	35 Nevertheless the high places did not disappear and the people continued to sacrifice and to burn incense on them. It was he who built the Upper Gate of the temple of the LORD.

37 In quel tempo il Signore cominciò a mandare contro Giuda Rasin re di Siria, e Facee figlio di Romelia,	37 It was at that time that the LORD first loosed Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, against Judah.
38 Ioatan si addormentò coi suoi padri, e fu sepolto con essi nella città di David suo padre, e gli successe nel regno il suo figlio Acaz.	38 Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in his forefather's City of David. His son Ahaz succeeded him as king.
