1 L'anno secondo di Ioas, figlio di Ioacaz re d'Israele, regnò Amasia figlio di Ioas re di Giuda.	1 In the second year of Joash the son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, began to reign.
2 Egli aveva venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò ventinove anni in Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Ioadan, di Gerusalemme.	2 He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jeho-addin of Jerusalem.
3 Egli fece ciò che era giusto davanti al Signore, ma non come David suo padre; fece in tutto come Ioas suo padre,	3 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not like David his father; he did in all things as Joash his father had done.

6 ma non fece morire i figli degli uccisori, secondo quel che sta scritto nel libro della legge di Mose, e come ordinò il Signore, dicendo: « I padri non morranno per i figli, nè i figli per i padri, ma ognuno morrà per il suo proprio peccato ».	6 But he did not put to death the children of the murderers; according to what is written in the book of the law of Moses, where the LORD commanded, "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, or the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin."
7 Egli battè diecimila Idumei nella valle delle Saline, e, presa combattendo Petra, le diede il nome di Iecteel, come si chiama anch'oggi.	7 He killed ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt and took Sela by storm, and called it Jokthe-el, which is its name to this day.
8 Poi Amasia mandò ambasciatori a Ioas figlio di Ioacaz, figlio di Iehu re d'Israele, a dirgli: « Vieni, e ci vedremo in faccia ».	8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us look one another in the face."
9 Ma Ioas re d'Israele mandò ad Amasia re di Giuda questa risposta: « Il cardo del Libano mandò a dire al cedro che si alza sul Libano: Dà la tua figlia per moglie al mio figlio. Ma le fiere selvagge che dimorano sul Libano, passando, calpestarono il cardo.	9 And Jehoash king of Israel sent word to Amaziah king of Judah, "A thistle on Lebanon sent to a cedar on Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son for a wife'; and a wild beast of Lebanon passed by and trampled down the thistle.
10 Tu hai battuto in guerra Edom, e il tuo cuore t'ha insuperbito; contentati della tua gloria, e sta a casa tua, perchè vuoi provocare un malanno da rovinare te e Giuda teco? »	10 You have indeed smitten Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Be content with your glory, and stay at home; for why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?"
11 Ma siccome Amasia non diede retta, Ioas re d'Israele salì, e si videro egli e Amasia re di Giuda, a Betsames città di Giuda.	11 But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced one another in battle at Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
12 Giuda fu sconfitto da Israele, e ciascuno fuggì nelle sue tende.	12 And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his home.
13 Ioas re d'Israele, preso in Betsames Amasia re di Giuda, figlio di Ioas, figlio di Ocozia, lo condusse a Gerusalemme e fece una breccia nelle mura di Gerusalemme lunga quattrocento cubiti, dalla porta di Efraim alla porta dell'angolo,	13 And Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for four hundred cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.
14 Preso poi tutto l'oro, l'argento e tutti i vasi che si trovavano nella casa del Signore e nei tesori del re, e gli ostaggi, se ne tornò a Samaria.	14 And he seized all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the king's house, also hostages, and he returned to Samaria.
15 Quanto al resto degli atti di Ioas, quello che fece, la sua prodezza nel combattere contro Arnasia re di Giuda, non sono queste cose scritte nel libro delle cronache dei re d'Israele?	15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
16 Ioas si addormentò coi suoi padri, fu sepolto in Samaria coi re d'Israele, e gli successe nel regno Geroboamo suo figlio.	16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17 Or Amasia, figlio di Ioas, re di Giuda, visse quindici anni dopo la morte di Ioas figlio di Ioacaz, re d'Israele.	17 Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
18 Quanto poi al resto delle azioni di Amasia, non sono esse scritte nel libro delle cronache dei re di Giuda?	18 Now the rest of the deeds of Amaziah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
19 Fu ordita contro di lui una congiura in Gerusalemme. Egli fuggì a Lachis; ma mandarono ad inseguirlo a Lachis ove lo uccisero.	19 And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
20 Poi lo trasportarono sopra cavalli, e lo seppellirono a Gerusalemme coi suoi padri nella città di David.	20 And they brought him upon horses; and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21 Allora tutto il popolo, preso Azaria, che aveva sedici anni, lo costituì re in luogo di Amasia suo padre.	21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
22 Dopo che il re si ad dormentò coi suoi padri, egli riedificò Elat e la restituì a Giuda.	22 He built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.
23 L'anno decimo quinto di Amasia figlio di Ioas re di Giuda regnò in Samaria, per quarant'un anno, Geroboamo figlio di Ioas re d'Israele.	23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, began to reign in Samaria, and he reigned forty-one years.

26 Avendo il Signore veduto che era troppo amara l'afflizione d'Israele, e che eran consunti fino a quelli chiusi in prigione, fino e agli ultimi del popolo e che nessuno soccorreva Israele,	26 For the LORD saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter, for there was none left, bond or free, and there was none to help Israel.
27 egli che non aveva deciso di cancellare il nome d'Israele di sotto al cielo, li salvò per mezzo di Geroboamo figlio di Ioas.	27 But the LORD had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28 Il resto degli atti di Geroboamo, tutto quello che fece, la sua prodezza con cui combattè e com'egli restituì a Israele Dae masco e Emat di Giuda, tutte queste cose non sono scritte nel libro delle cronache dei re d'Israele?	28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he fought, and how he recovered for Israel Damascus and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
29 Poi Geroboamo si addormentò coi suoi padri re d'Israele, e gli successe nel regno il suo figlio Zaccaria.	29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, the kings of Israel, and Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.
