| 1 - Anch'io quando venni presso di voi, o fratelli, non son venuto ad annunziare la testimonianza di Cristo con sublimità di ragionamento o di sapienza; | 1 When I came to you, brethren, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God in lofty words or wisdom. |
| 2 poichè non giudicai di saper alcuna cosa fra voi se non Gesù Cristo, e questo crocifisso. | 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. |
| 3 Anch'io mi son trovato fra voi con un senso di debolezza, di timore e di grande trepidanza; | 3 And I was with you in weakness and in much fear and trembling; |
| 4 e il mio parlare e la mia predicazione non consisteva in persuasivi discorsi di umana sapienza, ma in dimostrazione di spirito e di virtù, | 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, |
| 5 affinchè la vostra fede non si fondasse sulla umana sapienza, ma sulla virtù di Dio. | 5 that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. |
| 6 Di sapienza parliamo sì tra uomini perfetti, ma è sapienza non di questo secolo, la cui opera si riduce a nulla; | 6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. |
| 7 noi esponiamo la sapienza di Dio in mistero, la sapienza nascosta, che Dio preordinò avanti a tutti i secoli a gloria nostra, | 7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glorification. |
| 8 e che nessuno dei principi di questo secolo ha conosciuto, perchè se l'avessero conosciuta non avrebbero crocifisso il Signore della gloria; | 8 None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. |
| 9 ma come sta scritto: " Ciò che occhio non vide nè orecchio udì, nè ascese al cuor dell'uomo è ciò che Dio preparò a quelli che lo amano ". | 9 But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him," |
| 10 A noi lo rivelò Dio per mezzo dello Spirito suo, poichè lo Spirito penetra tutte le cose, anche le profondità di Dio. | 10 God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. |
| 11 E infatti chi fra gli uomini conosce le cose dell'uomo, se non lo spirito dell'uomo che è in lui? così anche le cose divine nessun altri le sa fuor che lo Spirito di Dio. | 11 For what person knows a man's thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. |
| 12 E noi non lo Spirito del mondo abbiamo ricevuto, ma lo Spirito che vien da Dio, affinchè conosciamo le cose da Dio a noi [graziosamente] donate; | 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. |
| 13 le quali noi esponiamo non con le parole che t'insegna l'umana sapienza, ma con quelle insegnate dallo Spirito, adattando cose spirituali a cose spirituali. | 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit. |
| 14 Ma l'uomo animale non capisce le cose dello spirito di Dio; per lui sono stoltezze e non le può intendere, perchè non si possono giudicare che spiritualmente. | 14 The unspiritual man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. |
| 15 Invece l'uomo spirituale giudica sì tutto, ed egli non è giudicato da alcuno. | 15 The spiritual man judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. |
| 16 Giacchè chi mai ha conosciuto la mente del Signore da poterla comprendere? Noi invece la mente di Cristo la conosciamo. | 16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ. |
