| 1 - Or Pietro e Giovanni salivano al tempio sull'ora della preghiera, a nona. | 1 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. |
| 2 E veniva pertanto un cert'uomo, storpio dalla nascita, che posavano ogni giorno alla porta del tempio detta la Bella, per chieder limosina a quelli ch'entravano nel tempio. | 2 And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at that gate of the temple which is called Beautiful to ask alms of those who entered the temple. |
| 3 Costui, vedendo Pietro e Giovanni che stavano per entrare, chiese loro la limosina. | 3 Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms. |
| 4 E Pietro con Giovanni, fissandolo disse: «Guardaci!». | 4 And Peter directed his gaze at him, with John, and said, "Look at us." |
| 5 E quello li guardava attentamente, aspettando di ricevere da essi qualche cosa. | 5 And he fixed his attention upon them, expecting to receive something from them. |
| 6 Ma Pietro disse: «Non ho nè argento nè oro; ma quello che ho, te lo dò: nel nome di Gesù Cristo il Nazareno, àlzati e cammina». | 6 But Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but I give you what I have; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." |
| 7 E, presolo per la man destra, l'aiutò ad alzarsi; e in quell'istante, le piante e le caviglie de' piedi gli diventaron forti. | 7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. |
| 8 D'un salto, fu in piedi, e si mise a camminare; ed entrò con essi nel tempio, camminando, saltando e lodando Dio. | 8 And leaping up he stood and walked and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. |
| 9 E tutto il popolo lo vide camminare e lodar Dio. | 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God, |
| 10 E siccome lo conoscevano per quello che sedeva alla Porta Bella del tempio a chieder limosina, erano stupefatti e fuor di sè per quel che gli era avvenuto. | 10 and recognized him as the one who sat for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. |
| 11 Mentre colui teneva ancora stretti Pietro e Giovanni, tutto il popolo accorse verso di loro al portico detto di Salomone. | 11 While he clung to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico called Solomons, astounded. |
| 12 E Pietro, vedendo la gran folla, parlò e disse: «Uomini Israeliti, perchè vi meravigliate di questo? Perchè tenete gli occhi su di noi, come se di potenza e bontà nostra avessimo fatto sì che costui cammini? | 12 And when Peter saw it he addressed the people, "Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we had made him walk? |
| 13 Il Dio di Abramo, di Isacco e di Giacobbe, il Dio de' padri nostri ha glorificato il suo figliuolo Gesù, che voi metteste in man di Pilato e rinnegaste in faccia a lui, mentr'egli aveva deciso di liberarlo. | 13 The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. |
| 14 Sì, voi rinnegaste il Santo e il Giusto, e chiedeste vi fosse graziato un omicida. | 14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, |
| 15 Voi uccideste l'autore della vita; ma Dio l'ha risuscitato da' morti, e noi ne siamo testimoni. | 15 and killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. |
| 16 Ond'è che per la fede nel nome di Lui, un tal nome ha rafforzato quest'uomo, che vedete e conoscete: e la fede che vien da Lui, gli ha dato, in presenza di tutti voi, questa perfetta guarigione. | 16 And his name, by faith in his name, has made this man strong whom you see and know; and the faith which is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all. |
| 17 Or io so, fratelli, che il male fatto da voi e da' vostri capi, fu per ignoranza. | 17 "And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. |
| 18 Ma Dio ha così compiuto quel che per bocca di tutti i profeti aveva predetto: dover patire il suo Cristo. | 18 But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled. |
| 19 Ravvedetevi, dunque, e convertitevi, affinchè sian rimessi i vostri peccati; | 19 Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, |
| 20 e possan venire da parte del Signore i tempi del refrigerio, ch'egli vi mandi Gesù Cristo a voi predicato, | 20 and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, |
| 21 che il cielo terrà accolto fino a' tempi della restaurazione di tutte le cose, dei quali Dio ha parlato fin dalle più antiche età per bocca de' suoi santi profeti. | 21 whom heaven must receive until the time for establishing all that God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old. |
| 22 Infatti, Mosè, disse: - Il Signore Iddio vostro susciterà tra i vostri fratelli un profeta come me; ascoltatelo in tutto quel che vi dirà. | 22 Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet from your brethren as he raised me up. You shall listen to him in whatever he tells you. |
| 23 Perchè, chiunque non darà orecchio a quel profeta, sarà sterminato di tra il popolo. - | 23 And it shall be that every soul that does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people.' |
| 24 E tutti i profeti, da Samuele in poi, quanti han parlato, anch'essi annunziarono questi giorni. | 24 And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came afterwards, also proclaimed these days. |
| 25 Voi, proprio voi, siete i figli de' profeti e dell'alleanza che Dio fece co' vostri padri, quando disse ad Abramo: - E nella tua progenie saranno benedette tutte le famiglie della terra. - | 25 You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God gave to your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your posterity shall all the families of the earth be blessed.' |
| 26 A voi per i primi Iddio, dopo aver suscitato il suo Figliuolo, lo ha mandato per benedirvi, facendo sì che ciascun di voi si converta dalle sue iniquità». | 26 God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you in turning every one of you from your wickedness." |
