LXXDOUAI-RHEIMS
ολεκομαι πνευματι φερομενος δεομαι δε ταφης και ου τυγχανω1 My spirit shall be wasted, my days shall be shortened, and only the grave remaineth for me.
λισσομαι καμνων και τι ποιησας2 I have not sinned, and my eye abideth in bitterness.
εκλεψαν δε μου τα υπαρχοντα αλλοτριοι τις εστιν ουτος τη χειρι μου συνδεθητω3 Deliver me O Lord, and set me beside thee, and let any man's hand fight against me.
οτι καρδιαν αυτων εκρυψας απο φρονησεως δια τουτο ου μη υψωσης αυτους4 Thou hast set their heart far from understanding, therefore they shall not be exalted.
τη μεριδι αναγγελει κακιας οφθαλμοι δε μου εφ' υιοις ετακησαν5 He promiseth a prey to his companions, and the eyes of his children shall fail.
εθου δε με θρυλημα εν εθνεσιν γελως δε αυτοις απεβην6 He hath made me as it were a byword of the people, and I am an example before them.
πεπωρωνται γαρ απο οργης οι οφθαλμοι μου πεπολιορκημαι μεγαλως υπο παντων7 My eye is dim through indignation, and my limbs are brought as it were to nothing.
θαυμα εσχεν αληθινους επι τουτω δικαιος δε επι παρανομω επανασταιη8 The just shall be astonished at this, and the innocent shall be raised up against the hypocrite.
σχοιη δε πιστος την εαυτου οδον καθαρος δε χειρας αναλαβοι θαρσος9 And the just man shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
ου μην δε αλλα παντες ερειδετε και δευτε δη ου γαρ ευρισκω εν υμιν αληθες10 Wherefore be you all converted, and come, and I shall not find among you any wise man.
αι ημεραι μου παρηλθον εν βρομω ερραγη δε τα αρθρα της καρδιας μου11 My days have passed away, my thoughts are dissipated, tormenting my heart.
νυκτα εις ημεραν εθηκαν φως εγγυς απο προσωπου σκοτους12 They have turned night into day, and after darkness I hope for light again.
εαν γαρ υπομεινω αδης μου ο οικος εν δε γνοφω εστρωται μου η στρωμνη13 If I wait hell is my house, and I have made my bed in darkness.
θανατον επεκαλεσαμην πατερα μου ειναι μητερα δε μου και αδελφην σαπριαν14 If I have said to rottenness: Thou art my father; to worms, my mother and my sister.
που ουν μου ετι εστιν η ελπις η τα αγαθα μου οψομαι15 Where is now then my expectation, and who considereth my patience?
η μετ' εμου εις αδην καταβησονται η ομοθυμαδον επι χωματος καταβησομεθα16 All that I have shall go down into the deepest pit: thinkest thou that there at least I shall have rest?
