Seconda lettera a Timoteo 3

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Sappi che negli ultimi tempi verranno momenti difficili.	1 You may be quite sure that in the last days there will be some difficult times.
2 Gli uomini saranno egoisti, amanti del denaro, vanitosi, orgogliosi, bestemmiatori, ribelli ai genitori, ingrati, empi,	2 People wil be self-centred and avaricious, boastful, arrogant and rude; disobedient to their parents,ungrateful, irreligious;
3 senza amore, sleali, calunniatori, intemperanti, intrattabili, disumani,	3 heartless and intractable; they wil be slanderers, profligates, savages and enemies of everything that isgood;
4 traditori, sfrontati, accecati dall’orgoglio, amanti del piacere più che di Dio,	4 they wil be treacherous and reckless and demented by pride, preferring their own pleasure to God.
5 gente che ha una religiosità solo apparente, ma ne disprezza la forza interiore. Guàrdati bene da costoro!	5 They wil keep up the outward appearance of religion but wil have rejected the inner power of it. Keepaway from people like that.
6 Fra questi vi sono alcuni che entrano nelle case e circuiscono certe donnette cariche di peccati, in balìa di passioni di ogni genere,	6 Of the same kind, too, are those men who insinuate themselves into families in order to get influenceover sil y women who are obsessed with their sins and follow one craze after another,
7 sempre pronte a imparare, ma che non riescono mai a giungere alla conoscenza della verità.	7 always seeking learning, but unable ever to come to knowledge of the truth.
8 Sull’esempio di Iannes e di Iambrès che si opposero a Mosè, anche costoro si oppongono alla verità: gente dalla mente corrotta e che non ha dato buona prova nella fede.	8 Just as Jannes and Jambres defied Moses, so these men defy the truth, their minds corrupt and theirfaith spurious.
9 Ma non andranno molto lontano, perché la loro stoltezza sarà manifesta a tutti, come lo fu la stoltezza di quei due.	9 But they will not be able to go on much longer: their fol y, like that of the other two, must become obviousto everybody.
10 Tu invece mi hai seguito da vicino nell’insegnamento, nel modo di vivere, nei progetti, nella fede, nella magnanimità, nella carità, nella pazienza,	10 You, though, have followed my teaching, my way of life, my aims, my faith, my patience and my love,my perseverance
11 nelle persecuzioni, nelle sofferenze. Quali cose mi accaddero ad Antiòchia, a Icònio e a Listra! Quali persecuzioni ho sofferto! Ma da tutte mi ha liberato il Signore!	11 and the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in places like Antioch, Iconium and Lystra -- althe persecutions I have endured; and the Lord has rescued me from every one of them.
12 E tutti quelli che vogliono rettamente vivere in Cristo Gesù saranno perseguitati.	12 But anybody who tries to live in devotion to Christ is certain to be persecuted;
13 Ma i malvagi e gli impostori andranno sempre di male in peggio, ingannando gli altri e ingannati essi stessi.	13 while these wicked impostors wil go from bad to worse, deceiving others, and themselves deceived.
14 Tu però rimani saldo in quello che hai imparato e che credi fermamente. Conosci coloro da cui lo hai appreso	14 You must keep to what you have been taught and know to be true; remember who your teachers were,
15 e conosci le sacre Scritture fin dall’infanzia: queste possono istruirti per la salvezza, che si ottiene mediante la fede in Cristo Gesù.	15 and how, ever since you were a child, you have known the holy scriptures -from these you can learnthe wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 Tutta la Scrittura, ispirata da Dio, è anche utile per insegnare, convincere, correggere ed educare nella giustizia,	16 Al scripture is inspired by God and useful for refuting error, for guiding people's lives and teachingthem to be upright.
17 perché l’uomo di Dio sia completo e ben preparato per ogni opera buona.	17 This is how someone who is dedicated to God becomes ful y equipped and ready for any good work.
