11 Vi ho detto queste cose perché la mia gioia sia in voi e la vostra gioia sia piena.	11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled.
12 Questo è il mio comandamento: che vi amiate gli uni gli altri come io ho amato voi.	12 This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Nessuno ha un amore più grande di questo: dare la sua vita per i propri amici.	13 Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Voi siete miei amici, se fate ciò che io vi comando.	14 You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you.
15 Non vi chiamo più servi, perché il servo non sa quello che fa il suo padrone; ma vi ho chiamato amici, perché tutto ciò che ho udito dal Padre mio l’ho fatto conoscere a voi.	15 I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends: because all things whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you.
16 Non voi avete scelto me, ma io ho scelto voi e vi ho costituiti perché andiate e portiate frutto e il vostro frutto rimanga; perché tutto quello che chiederete al Padre nel mio nome, ve lo conceda.	16 You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 Questo vi comando: che vi amiate gli uni gli altri.	17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
18 Se il mondo vi odia, sappiate che prima di voi ha odiato me.	18 If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you.
19 Se foste del mondo, il mondo amerebbe ciò che è suo; poiché invece non siete del mondo, ma vi ho scelti io dal mondo, per questo il mondo vi odia.	19 If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Ricordatevi della parola che io vi ho detto: “Un servo non è più grande del suo padrone”. Se hanno perseguitato me, perseguiteranno anche voi; se hanno osservato la mia parola, osserveranno anche la vostra.	20 Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.
21 Ma faranno a voi tutto questo a causa del mio nome, perché non conoscono colui che mi ha mandato.	21 But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake: because they know not him who sent me.
22 Se io non fossi venuto e non avessi parlato loro, non avrebbero alcun peccato; ma ora non hanno scusa per il loro peccato.	22 If I had not come, and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
23 Chi odia me, odia anche il Padre mio.	23 He that hateth me, hateth my Father also.
24 Se non avessi compiuto in mezzo a loro opere che nessun altro ha mai compiuto, non avrebbero alcun peccato; ora invece hanno visto e hanno odiato me e il Padre mio.	24 If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 Ma questo, perché si compisse la parola che sta scritta nella loro Legge: Mi hanno odiato senza ragione.	25 But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: They hated me without cause.
26 Quando verrà il Paràclito, che io vi manderò dal Padre, lo Spirito della verità che procede dal Padre, egli darà testimonianza di me;	26 But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me.
27 e anche voi date testimonianza, perché siete con me fin dal principio.	27 And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning.
