1 Mosè e gli anziani d’Israele diedero quest’ordine al popolo: «Osservate tutti i comandi che oggi vi do.	1 Then Moses, with the elders of Israel, gave the people this order: "Keep all these commandments which I enjoin on you today.
2 Quando avrete attraversato il Giordano per entrare nella terra che il Signore, vostro Dio, sta per darvi, erigerai grandi pietre e le intonacherai di calce.	2 On the day you cross the Jordan into the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster.
3 Scriverai su di esse tutte le parole di questa legge, quando avrai attraversato il Giordano per entrare nella terra che il Signore, tuo Dio, sta per darti, terra dove scorrono latte e miele, come il Signore, Dio dei tuoi padri, ti ha detto.	3 Also write on them, at the time you cross, all the words of this law, that you may thus enter into the land flowing with milk and honey, which the LORD, your God, and the God of your fathers, is giving you as he promised you.
4 Quando dunque avrete attraversato il Giordano, erigerete sul monte Ebal queste pietre, come oggi vi comando, e le intonacherete di calce.	4 When, moreover, you have crossed the Jordan, besides setting up on Mount Ebal these stones concerning which I command you today, and coating them with plaster,
5 Là costruirai anche un altare al Signore, tuo Dio, un altare di pietre non toccate da strumento di ferro.	5 you shall also build to the LORD, your God, an altar made of stones that no iron tool has touched.
6 Costruirai l’altare del Signore, tuo Dio, con pietre intatte, e sopra vi offrirai olocausti al Signore, tuo Dio.	6 You shall make this altar of the LORD, your God, with undressed stones, and shall offer on it holocausts to the LORD, your God.
7 Offrirai sacrifici di comunione, là ne mangerai e ti rallegrerai davanti al Signore, tuo Dio.	7 You shall also sacrifice peace offerings and eat them there, making merry before the LORD, your God.
8 Scriverai su quelle pietre tutte le parole di questa legge, con scrittura ben chiara».	8 On the stones you shall inscribe all the words of this law very clearly."
9 Mosè e i sacerdoti leviti dissero a tutto Israele: «Fa’ silenzio e ascolta, Israele! Oggi sei divenuto il popolo del Signore, tuo Dio.	9 Moses, with the levitical priests, then said to all Israel: "Be silent, O Israel, and listen! This day you have become the people of the LORD, your God.
10 Obbedirai quindi alla voce del Signore, tuo Dio, e metterai in pratica i suoi comandi e le sue leggi che oggi ti do».	10 You shall therefore hearken to the voice of the LORD, your God, and keep his commandments and statutes which I enjoin on you today."
11 In quello stesso giorno Mosè diede quest’ordine al popolo:	11 That same day Moses gave the people this order:
12 «Ecco quelli che, una volta attraversato il Giordano, staranno sul monte Garizìm per benedire il popolo: Simeone, Levi, Giuda, Ìssacar, Giuseppe e Beniamino;	12 "When you cross the Jordan, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph and Benjamin shall stand on Mount Gerizim to pronounce blessings over the people,
13 ecco quelli che staranno sul monte Ebal per pronunciare la maledizione: Ruben, Gad, Aser, Zàbulon, Dan e Nèftali.	13 while Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan and Naphtali shall stand on Mount Ebal to pronounce curses.
14 I leviti prenderanno la parola e diranno ad alta voce a tutti gli Israeliti:	14 "The Levites shall proclaim aloud to all the men of Israel:
15 “Maledetto l’uomo che fa un’immagine scolpita o di metallo fuso, abominio per il Signore, lavoro di mano d’artefice, e la pone in luogo occulto!”. Tutto il popolo risponderà e dirà: “Amen”.	15 'Cursed be the man who makes a carved or molten idol--an abomination to the LORD, the product of a craftsman's hands--and sets it up in secret!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
16 “Maledetto chi maltratta il padre e la madre!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	16 'Cursed be he who dishonors his father or his mother!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
17 “Maledetto chi sposta i confini del suo prossimo!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	17 'Cursed be he who moves his neighbor's landmarks!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
18 “Maledetto chi fa smarrire il cammino al cieco!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	18 'Cursed be he who misleads a blind man on his way!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
19 “Maledetto chi lede il diritto del forestiero, dell’orfano e della vedova!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	19 'Cursed be he who violates the rights of the alien, the orphan or the widow!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
20 “Maledetto chi si unisce con la moglie del padre, perché solleva il lembo del mantello del padre!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	20 'Cursed be he who has relations with his father's wife, for he dishonors his father's bed!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
21 “Maledetto chi giace con qualsiasi bestia!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	21 'Cursed be he who has relations with any animal!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
22 “Maledetto chi giace con la propria sorella, figlia di suo padre o figlia di sua madre!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	22 'Cursed be he who has relations with his sister or his half-sister!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
23 “Maledetto chi giace con la suocera!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	23 'Cursed be he who has relations with his mother-in-law!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
24 “Maledetto chi colpisce il suo prossimo in segreto!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	24 'Cursed be he who slays his neighbor in secret!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
25 “Maledetto chi accetta un regalo per condannare a morte un innocente!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	25 'Cursed be he who accepts payment for slaying an innocent man!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
26 “Maledetto chi non mantiene in vigore le parole di questa legge, per metterle in pratica!”. Tutto il popolo dirà: “Amen”.	26 'Cursed be he who fails to fulfill any of the provisions of this law!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
