1 Dopo il flagello il Signore parlò a Mosè e ad Eleàzaro, figlio del sacerdote Aronne, e disse:	1 After this plague, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to the priest Eleazar son of Aaron and said:
2 «Fate il computo di tutta la comunità degli Israeliti, dai vent’anni in su, suddivisi secondo i loro casati paterni, di quanti in Israele possono andare in guerra».	2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, by families: al those of twenty years and over, fitto bear arms in Israel.'
3 Mosè e il sacerdote Eleàzaro dissero loro nelle steppe di Moab presso il Giordano di Gerico:	3 So Moses and the priest Eleazar took a census of them on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan byJericho. They counted
4 «Si faccia il censimento dai vent’anni in su, secondo quanto il Signore aveva ordinato a Mosè e agli Israeliti, usciti dalla terra d’Egitto».	4 (as Yahweh had ordered Moses and the Israelites after leaving Egypt) men of twenty years and over:
5 Ruben, primogenito d’Israele. Figli di Ruben: da Enoc discende la famiglia degli Enochiti; da Pallu discende la famiglia dei Palluiti;	5 Reuben, the first-born of Israel. The sons of Reuben: for Hanoch, the Hanochite clan; for Pal u, thePal uite clan;
6 da Chesron discende la famiglia dei Chesroniti; da Carmì discende la famiglia dei Carmiti.	6 for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Carmi, the Carmite clan.
7 Tali sono le famiglie dei Rubeniti: quelli che furono registrati erano quarantatremilasettecentotrenta.	7 These were the Reubenite clans. They numbered forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty men.
8 Figli di Pallu: Eliàb.	8 The sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9 Figli di Eliàb: Nemuèl, Datan e Abiràm. Questi sono quel Datan e quell’Abiràm, membri del consiglio, che si ribellarono contro Mosè e contro Aronne con la gente di Core, quando questa si era ribellata contro il Signore;	9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. These two, Dathan and Abiram, men of repute in thecommunity, were the ones who revolted against Moses and Aaron; they belonged to Korah's group when itrevolted against Yahweh.
10 la terra spalancò la bocca e li inghiottì insieme con Core, quando quella gente perì e il fuoco divorò duecentocinquanta uomini, che servirono d’esempio.	10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them (with Korah when that group perished), when fireconsumed the two hundred and fifty men. They were a sign.
11 Ma i figli di Core non perirono.	11 Korah's sons, however, did not perish.

20 I figli di Giuda, secondo le loro famiglie, furono: da Sela discende la famiglia dei Selaniti; da Peres la famiglia dei Peresiti; da Zerach la famiglia degli Zerachiti.	20 The other sons of Judah became clans: for Shelah, the Shelahite clan; for Perez, the Perezzite clan;for Zerah, the Zerahite clan.
21 I figli di Peres furono: da Chesron discende la famiglia dei Chesroniti; da Camul discende la famiglia dei Camuliti.	21 The sons of Perez were: for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Hamul, the Hamulite clan.
22 Tali sono le famiglie di Giuda. Ne furono registrati settantaseimilacinquecento.	22 These were the clans of Judah. They numbered seventy-six thousand five hundred men.
23 Figli di Ìssacar, secondo le loro famiglie: da Tola discende la famiglia dei Tolaiti; da Puva la famiglia dei Puviti;	23 The sons of Issachar by clans: for Tola, the Tolaite clan; for Puvah, the Puvahite clan;

34 Tali sono le famiglie di Manasse. Ne furono registrati cinquantaduemilasettecento.	34 These were the clans of Manasseh. They numbered fifty-two thousand seven hundred men.
35 Questi sono i figli di Èfraim, secondo le loro famiglie: da Sutèlach discende la famiglia dei Sutalchiti; da Becher la famiglia dei Becheriti; da Tacan la famiglia dei Tacaniti.	35 These were the sons of Ephraim by clans: for Shuthelah, the Shuthelahite clan; for Becher, theBecherite clan; for Tahan, the Tahanite clan.

38 Figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie: da Bela discende la famiglia dei Belaiti; da Asbel discende la famiglia degli Asbeliti; da Achiràm discende la famiglia degli Achiramiti;	38 The sons of Benjamin by clans: for Bela, the Belaite clan; for Ashbel, the Ashbelite clan; for Ahiram,the Ahiramite clan;

43 Totale per le famiglie dei Sucamiti: ne furono registrati sessantaquattromilaquattrocento.	43 All the Shuhamite clans numbered sixty-four thousand four hundred men.
44 Figli di Aser, secondo le loro famiglie: da Imna discende la famiglia degli Imniti; da Isvì la famiglia degli Isviti; da Berià la famiglia dei Beriiti.	44 The sons of Asher by clans: for Imnah, the Imnahite clan; for Ishvi, the Ishvihite clan; for Beriah, theBeriahite clan.

46 La figlia di Aser si chiamava Serach.	46 The daughter of Asher was called Serah.

51 Questi sono gli Israeliti che furono registrati: seicentounmilasettecentotrenta.	51 Of the Israelites thus numbered, there were six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirtymen.
52 Il Signore parlò a Mosè dicendo:	52 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
53 «Tra costoro la terra sarà divisa in eredità, secondo il numero delle persone.	53 'The country must be shared out among these as a heritage, proportionately to the number of thoseinscribed.
54 A chi è numeroso darai numerosa eredità e a chi è piccolo darai piccola eredità; a ciascuno sarà data la sua eredità secondo il numero dei suoi censiti.	54 To the large in number you wil give a large area of land, to the smal in number a small area; toeach the heritage wil be in proportion to the number registered.
55 La terra sarà divisa per sorteggio; essi riceveranno la rispettiva proprietà secondo i nomi delle loro tribù paterne.	55 The sharing out of the country must, however, be done by lot. Each wil receive a heritageproportionate to the number of names in their patriarchal tribes;
56 La ripartizione delle proprietà sarà gettata a sorte per tutte le tribù, grandi o piccole».	56 the heritage of each tribe wil be shared out by lot, depending on its larger or smal er numbers.'
57 Questi sono i leviti dei quali si fece il censimento, secondo le loro famiglie: da Gherson discende la famiglia dei Ghersoniti; da Keat la famiglia dei Keatiti; da Merarì la famiglia dei Merariti.	57 These, by clans, are the Levites that were registered: for Gershon, the Gershonite clan; for Kohath,the Kohathite clan; for Merari, the Merarite clan.
58 Queste sono le famiglie di Levi: la famiglia dei Libniti, la famiglia degli Ebroniti, la famiglia dei Macliti, la famiglia dei Musiti, la famiglia dei Coriti. Keat generò Amram.	58 These are the Levite clans: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan,the Korahite clan. Kohath fathered Amram.
59 La moglie di Amram si chiamava Iochebed, figlia di Levi, che nacque a Levi in Egitto; essa partorì ad Amram Aronne, Mosè e Maria loro sorella.	59 Amram's wife was cal ed Jokebed daughter of Levi, born to him in Egypt. To Amram she boreAaron, Moses and Miriam their sister.
60 Ad Aronne nacquero Nadab e Abiu, Eleàzaro e Itamàr.	60 Aaron fathered Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61 Ora Nadab e Abiu morirono quando presentarono al Signore un fuoco illegittimo.	61 Nadab and Abihu died when they brought unauthorised fire before Yahweh.
62 I censiti furono ventitremila: tutti maschi, dall’età di un mese in su. Essi non furono compresi nel censimento degli Israeliti perché non fu data loro alcuna proprietà tra gli Israeliti.	62 Altogether twenty-three thousand males of one month and over were registered. They were notregistered with the Israelites, since they were given no heritage with the Israelites.
63 Questi sono i censiti da Mosè e dal sacerdote Eleàzaro, i quali fecero il censimento degli Israeliti nelle steppe di Moab presso il Giordano di Gerico.	63 Such were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar who took a census of the Israeliteson the Plains of Moab near the Jordan by Jericho.
64 Fra questi non vi era alcuno di quegli Israeliti dei quali Mosè e il sacerdote Aronne avevano fatto il censimento nel deserto del Sinai,	64 Not one of them was among those whom Moses and the priest Aaron had registered when theycounted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai;
65 perché il Signore aveva detto di loro: «Dovranno morire nel deserto!». E non ne rimase neppure uno, eccetto Caleb, figlio di Iefunnè, e Giosuè, figlio di Nun.	65 for Yahweh had told them that these were to die in the desert and that none of them would be leftexcept Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
