1 Non fare il male, perché il male non ti prenda.	1 Do no evil, and evil will not overtake you;
2 Allontànati dall'iniquità ed essa si allontanerà da te.	2 avoid wickedness, and it will turn aside from you.
3 Figlio, non seminare nei solchi dell'ingiustizia per non raccoglierne sette volte tanto.	3 Sow not in the furrows of injustice, lest you harvest it sevenfold.
4 Non domandare al Signore il potere né al re un posto di onore.	4 Seek not from the LORD authority, nor from the king a place of honor.
5 Non farti giusto davanti al Signore né saggio davanti al re.	5 Parade not your justice before the Lord, and before the king flaunt not your wisdom.
6 Non cercare di divenire giudice, che poi ti manchi la forza di estirpare l'ingiustizia; altrimenti temeresti alla presenza del potente e getteresti una macchia sulla tua dirittura.	6 Seek not to become a judge if you have not strength to root out crime, Or you will show favor to the ruler and mar your integrity.
7 Non offendere l'assemblea della città e non degradarti in mezzo al popolo.	7 Be guilty of no evil before the city's populace, nor disgrace yourself before the assembly.
8 Non ti impigliare due volte nel peccato, perché neppure di uno resterai impunito.	8 Do not plot to repeat a sin; not even for one will you go unpunished.
9 Non dire: "Egli guarderà all'abbondanza dei miei doni, e quando farò l'offerta al Dio altissimo egli l'accetterà".	9 Say not: "He will appreciate my many gifts; the Most High will accept my offerings."
10 Non mancar di fiducia nella tua preghiera e non trascurare di fare elemosina.	10 Be not impatient in prayers, and neglect not the giving of alms.
11 Non deridere un uomo dall'animo amareggiato, poiché c'è chi umilia e innalza.	11 Laugh not at an embittered man; be mindful of him who exalts and humbles.
12 Non fabbricare menzogne contro tuo fratello e neppure qualcosa di simile contro l'amico.	12 Plot no mischief against your brother, nor against your friend and companion.
13 Non volere in nessun modo ricorrere alla menzogna, perché le sue conseguenze non sono buone.	13 Delight not in telling lie after lie, for it never results in good.
14 Non parlar troppo nell'assemblea degli anziani e non ripetere le parole della tua preghiera.	14 Thrust not yourself into the deliberations of princes, and repeat not the words of your prayer.
15 Non disprezzare il lavoro faticoso, neppure l'agricoltura creata dall'Altissimo.	15 Hate not laborious tasks, nor farming, which was ordained by the Most High.
16 Non unirti alla moltitudine dei peccatori, ricòrdati che la collera divina non tarderà.	16 Do not esteem yourself better than your fellows; remember, his wrath will not delay.
17 Umilia profondamente la tua anima, perché castigo dell'empio sono fuoco e vermi.	17 More and more, humble your pride; what awaits man is worms.
18 Non cambiare un amico per interesse, né un fratello fedele per l'oro di Ofir.	18 Barter not a friend for money, nor a dear brother for the gold of Ophir.
19 Non disdegnare una sposa saggia e buona, poiché la sua bontà val più dell'oro.	19 Dismiss not a sensible wife; a gracious wife is more precious than corals.
20 Non maltrattare uno schiavo che lavora fedelmente né un mercenario che dà tutto se stesso.	20 Mistreat not a servant who faithfully serves, nor a laborer who devotes himself to his task.
21 Ami l'anima tua un servo saggio e non ricusargli la libertà.	21 Let a wise servant be dear to you as your own self; refuse him not his freedom.
22 Hai bestiame? Abbine cura; se ti è utile, resti in tuo possesso.	22 If you have livestock, look after them; if they are dependable, keep them.
23 Hai figli? Educali e sottomettili fin dalla giovinezza.	23 If you have sons, chastise them; bend their necks from childhood.
24 Hai figlie? Vigila sui loro corpi e non mostrare loro un volto troppo indulgente.	24 If you have daughters, keep them chaste, and be not indulgent to them.
25 Accasa una figlia e avrai compiuto un grande affare; ma sposala a un uomo assennato.	25 Giving your daughter in marriage ends a great task; but give her to a worthy man.
26 Hai una moglie secondo il tuo cuore? Non ripudiarla; ma di quella odiata non fidarti.	26 If you have a wife, let her not seem odious to you; but where there is ill-feeling, trust her not.
27 Onora tuo padre con tutto il cuore e non dimenticare i dolori di tua madre.	27 With your whole heart honor your father; your mother's birthpangs forget not.
28 Ricorda che essi ti hanno generato; che darai loro in cambio di quanto ti hanno dato?	28 Remember, of these parents you were born; what can you give them for all they gave you?
29 Temi con tutta l'anima il Signore e riverisci i suoi sacerdoti.	29 With all your soul, fear God, revere his priests.
30 Ama con tutta la forza chi ti ha creato e non trascurare i suoi ministri.	30 With all your strength, love your Creator, forsake not his ministers.
31 Temi il Signore e onora il sacerdote, consegna la sua parte, come ti è stato comandato: primizie, sacrifici espiatori, offerta delle spalle, vittima di santificazione e primizie delle cose sante.	31 Honor God and respect the priest; give him his portion as you have been commanded: First fruits and contributions, due sacrifices and holy offerings.
32 Al povero stendi la tua mano, perché sia perfetta la tua benedizione.	32 To the poor man also extend your hand, that your blessing may be complete;
33 La tua generosità si estenda a ogni vivente e al morto non negare la tua grazia.	33 Be generous to all the living, and withhold not your kindness from the dead.
34 Non evitare coloro che piangono e con gli afflitti mòstrati afflitto.	34 Avoid not those who weep, but mourn with those who mourn;
35 Non indugiare a visitare un malato, perché per questo sarai amato.	35 Neglect not to visit the sick-- for these things you will be loved.
36 In tutte le tue opere ricordati della tua fine e non cadrai mai nel peccato.	36 In whatever you do, remember your last days, and you will never sin.
