BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Chi si vendica avrà la vendetta dal Signore ed egli terrà sempre presenti i suoi peccati.	1 Whoever exacts vengeance wil experience the vengeance of the Lord, who keeps strict account of sin.
2 Perdona l'offesa al tuo prossimo e allora per la tua preghiera ti saranno rimessi i peccati.	2 Pardon your neighbour any wrongs done to you, and when you pray, your sins will be forgiven.
3 Se qualcuno conserva la collera verso un altro uomo, come oserà chiedere la guarigione al Signore?	3 If anyone nurses anger against another, can one then demand compassion from the Lord?
4 Egli non ha misericordia per l'uomo suo simile, e osa pregare per i suoi peccati?	4 Showing no pity for someone like oneself, can one then plead for one's own sins?
5 Egli, che è soltanto carne, conserva rancore; chi perdonerà i suoi peccati?	5 Mere creature of flesh, yet cherishing resentment!-who wil forgive one for sinning?
6 Ricòrdati della tua fine e smetti di odiare, ricòrdati della corruzione e della morte e resta fedele ai comandamenti.	6 Remember the last things, and stop hating, corruption and death, and be faithful to the commandments.
7 Ricòrdati dei comandamenti e non aver rancore verso il prossimo, dell'alleanza con l'Altissimo e non far conto dell'offesa subìta.	7 Remember the commandments, and do not bear your fel ow il -wil , remember the covenant of the MostHigh, and ignore the offence.
8 Astieniti dalle risse e sarai lontano dal peccato, perché un uomo passionale attizza una rissa.	8 Avoid quarrel ing and you wil sin less; for the hot-tempered provokes quarrels,
9 Un uomo peccatore semina discordia tra gli amici e tra persone pacifiche diffonde calunnie.	9 a sinner sows trouble between friends, introducing discord among the peaceful.
10 Secondo la materia del fuoco, esso s'infiamma, una rissa divampa secondo la sua violenza; il furore di un uomo è proporzionato alla sua forza, la sua ira cresce in base alla sua ricchezza.	10 The way a fire burns depends on its fuel, a quarrel spreads in proportion to its violence; a man's ragedepends on his strength, his fury grows fiercer in proportion to his wealth.
11 Una lite concitata accende il fuoco, una rissa violenta fa versare sangue.	11 A sudden quarrel kindles fire, a hasty dispute leads to bloodshed.
12 Se soffi su una scintilla, si accende; se vi sputi sopra, si spegne; eppure ambedue le cose escono dalla tua bocca.	12 Blow on a spark and up it flares, spit on it and out it goes; both are the effects of your mouth.
13 Maledici il delatore e l'uomo di doppia lingua, perché fa perire molti che vivono in pace.	13 A curse on the scandal-monger and double-talker, such a person has ruined many who lived inconcord.
14 Una lingua malèdica ha sconvolto molti, li ha scacciati di nazione in nazione; ha demolito forti città e ha rovinato casati potenti.	14 That third tongue has shattered the peace of many and driven them from nation to nation; it has pul eddown fortified cities, and overthrown the houses of the great.
15 Una lingua malèdica ha fatto ripudiare donne eccellenti, privandole del frutto delle loro fatiche.	15 The third tongue has had upright wives divorced, depriving them of reward for their hard work.
16 Chi le presta attenzione non trova pace, dalla sua dimora scompare la serenità.	16 No one who listens to it wil ever know peace of mind, wil ever live in peace again.
17 Un colpo di frusta produce lividure, ma un colpo di lingua rompe le ossa.	17 A stroke of the whip raises a weal, but a stroke of the tongue breaks bones.

19 Beato chi se ne guarda, chi non è esposto al suo furore, chi non ha trascinato il suo giogo e non è stato legato con le sue catene.	19 Blessed is anyone who has been sheltered from it, and has not experienced its fury, who has notdragged its yoke about, or been bound in its chains;
20 Il suo giogo è un giogo di ferro; le sue catene catene di bronzo.	20 for its yoke is an iron yoke, its chains are bronze chains;
21 Spaventosa è la morte che procura, in confronto è preferibile la tomba.	21 the death it inflicts is a miserable death, Sheol is preferable to it.
22 Essa non ha potere sugli uomini pii, questi non bruceranno alla sua fiamma.	22 It cannot gain a hold over the devout, they are not burnt by its flames.
23 Quanti abbandonano il Signore in essa cadranno, fra costoro divamperà senza spegnersi. Si avventerà contro di loro come un leone e come una pantera ne farà scempio.	23 Those who desert the Lord wil fal into it, it wil flare up inextinguishably among them, it wil be letloose against them like a lion, it wil tear them like a leopard.
24 Ecco, recingi pure la tua proprietà con siepe spinosa, lega in un sacchetto l'argento e l'oro,	24 Be sure you put a thorn-hedge round your property, lock away your silver and gold;
25 ma controlla anche le tue parole pesandole e chiudi con porte e catenaccio la bocca.	25 then make scales and weights for your words, and put a door with bolts across your mouth.
26 Sta' attento a non sbagliare a causa della lingua, perché tu non cada davanti a chi ti insidia.	26 Take care you take no false step through it, in case you fal a prey to him who lies in wait.
