Prima lettera ai Corinzi 4

1 Così noi consideri ognuno come ministri di Cristo, e dispensatori de' misteri di Dio.	1 People should think of us as Christ's servants, stewards entrusted with the mysteries of God.
2 Del resto poi ne' dispensatori ricercasi, che sian trovati fedeli.	2 In such a matter, what is expected of stewards is that each one should be found trustworthy.
3 A me poi pochissimo importa di essere giudicato da voi, o in giudizio umano: anzi nemmeno io fo giudizio di me medesimo.	3 It is of no importance to me how you or any other human court may judge me: I will not even be thejudge of my own self.
4 Imperocché non sono a me consapevole di cosa alcuna: ma non per questo sono giustificato: e chi mi giudica, è il Signore.	4 It is true that my conscience does not reproach me, but that is not enough to justify me: it is the Lordwho is my judge.
5 Per la qual cosa non vogliate giudicare prima del tempo, fin tanto che venga il Signore: il quale rischiarerà i nascondigli delle tenebre, e manifesterà i consigli de' cuori: e allora ciascheduno avrà lode da Dio.	5 For that reason, do not judge anything before the due time, until the Lord comes; he wil bring to lighteverything that is hidden in darkness and reveal the designs of al hearts. Then everyone wil receive from Godthe appropriate commendation.
6 Or queste cose, o fratelli, le ho in figura trasportate sopra di me, e di Apollo per riguardo a voi: affinchè per mezzo di noi impariate, onde di là da quel, che si è scritto, non si levi in superbia l'uno sopra dell'altro per cagion di un altro.	6 I have applied al this to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that you can learn how the saying,'Nothing beyond what is written' is true of us: no individual among you must become fil ed with his ownimportance and make comparisons, to another's detriment.
7 Imperocché chi è, che le differenzia? E che hai tu, che non lo abbi ricevuto? E se lo hai ricevuto, perché ne fai tu boria, come se non lo avessi ricevuto?	7 Who made you so important? What have you got that was not given to you? And if it was given to you,why are you boasting as though it were your own?
8 Già siete satolli, già siete arricchiti: senza di noi regnate: e voglia Dio, che regniate, affinchè noi pure con voi regniamo.	8 You already have everything -- you are rich already -- you have come into your kingdom, without anyhelp from us! Wel , I wish you were kings and we could be kings with you!
9 Imperocché io mi penso, che Dio ha esposti noi ultimi Apostoli, come destinati alla morte: conciossiachè siamo fatti spettacolo al mondo, agli Angeli, ed agli uomini.	9 For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on show right at the end, like men condemned todeath: we have been exhibited as a spectacle to the whole universe, both angelic and human.
10 Noi stolti per Cristo: e voi prudenti in Cristo: noi deboli, e voi forti: voi gloriosi, e noi disonorati.	10 Here we are, fools for Christ's sake, while you are the clever ones in Christ; we are weak, while youare strong; you are honoured, while we are disgraced.
11 Fino a questo punto noi soffriamo la fame, e la sete, e siamo ignudi, e siamo schiaffeggiati, e non abbiamo dove star fermi.	11 To this day, we go short of food and drink and clothes, we are beaten up and we have no homes;
12 E ci affanniamo a lavorar colle nostre mani: maledetti benediciamo: perseguitati abbiamo pazienza:	12 we earn our living by labouring with our own hands; when we are cursed, we answer with a blessing;when we are hounded, we endure it passively;
13 Bestemmiati porgiamo suppliche: siamo divenuti come la spazzatura del mondo, la feccia di tutti sino a questo punto.	13 when we are insulted, we give a courteous answer. We are treated even now as the dregs of theworld, the very lowest scum.
14 Non per fare a voi vergogna, scrivo queste cose, ma come miei figliuoli carissimi vi ammonisco.	14 I am writing al this not to make you ashamed but simply to remind you, as my dear children;
15 Imperocché quando voi aveste dieci mila precettori in Cristo, non avete però molti padri. Conciossiachè in Cristo Gesù io vi ho generati per mezzo del Vangelo.	15 for even though you might have ten thousand slaves to look after you in Christ, you still have no morethan one father, and it was I who fathered you in Christ Jesus, by the gospel.
16 Per la qual cosa siate (vi prego) miei imitatori, come io di Cristo.	16 That is why I urge you to take me as your pattern
17 Per questo hovvi mandato Timoteo, che è mio figliuolo carissimo, e fedele nel Signore; il quale vi ridurrà a memoria le vie, che io seguo in Cristo Gesù, conforme insegno dappertutto in tutte le Chiese.	17 and why I have sent you Timothy, a dear and faithful son to me in the Lord, who will remind you of myprinciples of conduct in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church.
18 Come se non fossi io per venire a voi, taluni si sono gonfiati.	18 On the assumption that I was not coming to you, some of you have become filled with your own self-importance;
19 Ma verrò in breve da voi, se il Signore lo vorrà: e disaminerò non i discorsi di quegli, che si sono gonfiati, ma la virtù.	19 but I shal be coming to you soon, the Lord willing, and then I shal find out not what these self-important people say, but what power they have.
20 Imperocché non istà il regno di Dio nelle parole, ma si nella virtù.	20 For the kingdom of God consists not in spoken words but in power.
21 Che volete? Che io venga a voi colla verga, o con amore, e spirito di mansuetudine?	21 What do you want then? Am I to come to you with a stick in my hand or in love, and with a spirit ofgentleness?
