1 Or alla fabbrica della casa del Signore fu dato principio l'anno quattrocento ottanta dopo l'uscita de' figliuoli d'Israele dalla terra d'Egitto, l'anno quarto del regno di Salomone sopra Israele, nel mese Zio, viene a dire, nel secondo mese.	1 Then it happened that, in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel departed from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of the reign of Solomon over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, the house of the Lord began to be built.
2 E la casa, che il re Salomone edifi­cava al Signore, avea sessanta cubiti di lunghezza, venti cubiti di larghezza, e trenta di altezza.	2 Now the house, which king Solomon was building to the Lord, was sixty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and thirty cubits in height.
3 E dinanzi al tempio erari un atrio lungo venti cubiti, quant' era largo il tempio: e avea dieci cubiti di larghez­za in faccia al tempio.	3 And a portico was before the temple, of twenty cubits in length, in accord with the measure of the width of the temple. And it had ten cubits of width before the face of the temple.
4 E fece nel tempio delle finestre oblique.	4 And he made oblique windows in the temple.
5 E fabbricò degli appartamenti sul muro del tempio all'intorno, sulle mura della casa attorno al tempio, e al san­tuario fece quasi ale all'intorno.	5 And upon the wall of the temple, he built panels on all sides, in the walls of the house around the temple and the oracle. And he made side chambers all around.
6 Il piano infimo era largo cinque cubiti, e il piano di mezzo era largo sei cubiti, e il terzo era largo sette cubiti; e posò le travi intorno al tempio al di fuori, talmente che non fossero inca­strate nelle mura del tempio.	6 The flooring on the bottom level held five cubits in width, and the middle floor was six cubits in width, and the third floor held seven cubits in width. Then he positioned beams on the house all around the outside, in such a way that they would not be fastened to the walls of the temple.
7 E nel fabbricarsi la casa, ella fu fatta di pietre lavorate, e intere: e non si sentì rumor di martello, nè di scar­pello, nè d'altro strumento di ferro, mentre si edificava la casa.	7 Now the house, while it was being built, was made from cut and finished stones. And so, neither mallet, nor chisel, nor any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was being built.
8 La porta del piano di mezzo era dai lato destro della casa (del Signore): e per una scala a chiocciola si saliva al palco di mezzo, e da quel di mezzo al terzo.	8 The door at the side of the middle section was to the right of the house. And they would ascend along winding stairs to the middle level, and from the middle level to the third level.
9 E fabbricò la casa, e la messe a coperto: e la coperse con soffitta di cedro.	9 And he built the house, and finished it. And he overlaid the house with boards of cedar.
10 E fece gli appartamenti attorno a tutta la casa di cinque cubiti di altez­za, e coperse la casa con legname di cedro.	10 And he built a paneling over the entire house, five cubits in height, and he covered the house with cedar wood.
11 E il Signore parlò a Salomone, e disse:	11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying:
12 In questa casa, cui tu edifichi (se tu camminerai per la vià de' miei pre­cetti, ed eseguirai i miei voleri, e osser­verai tutti i miei comandamenti senza mai allontanartene), io confermerò in tuo favore le parole dette da me a Da­vidde tuo padre.	12 “Concerning this house, which you are building: if you will walk in my precepts, and carry out my judgments, and keep all my commandments, advancing by them, I will confirm my word to you, which I spoke to your father David.
13 E io abiterò in mezzo a' figliuoli d'Israele, e non abbandonerò il mio popolo d'Israele.	13 And I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel.”
14 Salomone adunque fece la casa (del Signore), e la compì,	14 And so, Solomon built the house, and finished it.
15 E intonacò al di dentro con tavole di cedro le mura della casa, dal pavi­mento fino alla sommità delle mura, e sino alla soffitta, cui egli coprì al di dentro di legno di cedro: e il pavi­mento della casata coperse con tavole di abete.	15 And he built the walls of the house, on the interior, with panels of cedar, from the floor of the house, to the top of the walls, and even to the ceiling. He covered it with cedar wood on the interior. And he overlaid the floor of the house with panels of spruce.
16 E fece di legno di cedro un tavo­lato di venti cubiti per la parte poste­riore del tempio, dal pavimento sino alla soffitta: e ne fece il luogo interior dell'oracolo, il Santo de' Santi.	16 And he built panels of cedar, of twenty cubits, at the back part of the temple, from the floor even to the top. And he made the inner house of the oracle as the Holy of Holies.
17 E il tempio dalla porta dell'ora­colo in giù avea quaranta cubiti.	17 And the temple itself, before the doors of the oracle, was forty cubits.
18 E tutta la casa al di dentro era vestita di cedro, e le incastrature del legname erano fatte con molta arte, e ornate di lavori rilevati di tornio: ogni cosa era talmente coperta delle tavole di cedro, che non compariva neppure una delle pietre della muraglia.	18 And the entire house was clothed with cedar on the interior, having its turnings and junctures artfully wrought, with carvings projecting outward. Everything was clothed with panels of cedar. And no stone at all was able to be seen in the wall.
19 Or egli avea fatto l'oracolo nel fondo della casa, nella parte più interna del tempio, per collocarvi l'arca del testamento del Signore.	19 Now he made the oracle in the middle of the house, in the inner part, so that he might station the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.
20 L'oracolo avea venti cubiti di lunghezza, e venti cubiti di larghezza, e venti di altezza, ed ei lo coprì, e lo ri­vestì d'oro purissimo; e lo stesso al­tare rivestì di cedro.	20 And the oracle held twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height. And he covered and clothed it with the purest gold. Then, too, he clothed the altar in cedar.
21 E anche la casa, che è dinanzi all'oracolo, la ricoperse d'oro finissi­mo, e v' inchiodò le lame (d'oro) con chiodi d'oro.	21 Also, the house before the oracle, he covered with the purest gold, and he fastened the plates with nails of gold.
22 E non eravi parte alcuna del tem­pio, che non fosse ricoperta d'oro anche tutto l'altare dell'oracolo lo co­perse d'oro.	22 And there was nothing in the temple that was not covered with gold. Moreover, the entire altar of the oracle he overlaid with gold.
23 E pell'oracolo fece due Cherubini di legno d'ulivo, alti dieci cubiti.	23 And he made in the oracle two cherubim from wood of the olive tree, of ten cubits in height.
24 L'una delle ale del Cherubino avea cinque cubiti, e l'altra pure cin­que cubiti; viene a dire, che vi erano dieci cubiti, dalla punta a' un' ala fino alla punta dell'altra.	24 One wing of a cherub was five cubits, and the other wing of a cherub was five cubits, that is, having ten cubits from the summit of one wing even to the summit of the other wing.
25 Parimente il secondo Cherubino era di dieci cubiti, e della stessa dimen­sione; ed erano ambedue dello stesso lavoro.	25 Likewise, the second cherub was ten cubits. And the measure was equal and the work was one, in the two cherubim,
26 Viene a dire, che l'uno de' Che­rubini avea di altezza dieci cubiti, e si­milmente il secondo Cherubino.	26 that is, one cherub had a height of ten cubits, and similarly the second cherub.
27 E collocò i Cherubini nel mezzo del tempio interiore: e i Cherubini aveano le ali distese, e l'una delle ale toccava la parete, e un' ala dell'altro Cherubino toccava l'altra parete: e le altre ale si toccavano l'una l'altra nel punto di mezzo del tempio.	27 And he stationed the cherubim in the middle of the inner temple. And the cherubim extended their wings, and the wing of the one was touching the wall, and the wing of the second cherub was touching the other wall. But the other wings, in the middle of the temple, were touching each another.
28 E ricoperse d'oro anche i Cheru­bini.	28 He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.
29 E tutte le pareti del tempio le fece ornare all'intorno di scultura, e d'in­taglio: e vi fece de' Cherubini, e delle palme, e delle figure diverse, che quasi si staccavano, e sporgevano in fuora dalla parete.	29 And all the walls of the temple all around he engraved with diverse carvings and turnings. And he made in them cherubim, and palm trees, and various images, as if these were projecting out, and going forth from, the wall.
30 E nella interior parte, e nella este­riore del tempio ricoperse d'oro il pa­vimento.	30 Then, too, the floor of the house he overlaid with gold within and without.
31 E all'ingresso dell'oracolo fece piccole porte di legno d'ulivo, e l'uscio era un pentagono.	31 And at the entrance of the oracle, he made little doors, from wood of the olive tree, with posts of five corners.
32 E queste due porte erano di legno d'ulivo, e in esse erano scolpite figure di Cherubini, e di palme, e di bassi rilievi, che sporgevano molto in fuora, e le rivestì d'oro: e d'oro ancora ri­coperse tanto i Cherubini, cerne le pal­me, e tutte le altre cose.	32 And there were two doors, from wood of the olive tree. And he carved upon them pictures of cherubim, and images of palm trees, and very prominent figures. And he overlaid these with gold. And he covered the cherubim, as well as the palm trees and the other things, with gold.
33 E all'ingresso del tempio fece le porte di legno d'ulivo quadrate.	33 And he made, at the entrance of the temple, posts from wood of the olive tree, with four corners,
34 E le due porte di legno di abete una da un lato, l'altra dall'altro lato: e l'una, e l'altra imposta erano di due parti, e si apriva, tenendosi unita l'una parte coll'altra.	34 and two doors, from wood of the spruce tree, on the other side. And each door was double, and so it opened by folding upon itself.
35 E vi fece scolpire de' Cherubini, e delle palme, ed ornamenti, che spor­gevano molto in fuora; e ogni cosa ri­coperse con lame d'oro, con esatta­mente giusto lavoro.	35 And he carved cherubim, and palm trees, and very prominent engravings. And he covered everything with gold plates, worked to be perfectly square.
36 E fabbricò l'atrio interiore di tre ordini di pietre lavorate e un ordine di legname di cedro.	36 And he built the inner atrium with three rows of polished stones, and one row of cedar wood.
37 Furon gettati i fondamenti della casa del Signore l'anno quarto nel mese Zio:	37 In the fourth year, the house of the Lord was founded, in the month of Ziv.
38 E l'anno undecimo nel mese di Bui (che è l'ottavo mese) fu terminala la casa in tutte le sue parti, e riguardo a tutti i suoi utensili: e (Salomone) la fabbricò in sette anni.	38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was perfected in all its works and in all its equipment. And he built it for seven years.
