1 Ma il re Salomone amò grandemente molte donne straniere, e anche la figliuola di Faraone, e delle donne di Moab, e di Ammon, e dell'Idumea, e di Sidone, e del paese di Heth,	1 But king Solomon loved many foreign women, including the daughter of Pharaoh, and women of Moab, and of Ammon, and of Idumea, and of Sidon, and of the Hittites.
2 Nazioni, delle quali avea detto il Signore a' figliuoli d Israele: Voi non prenderete delle lor donne, e non darete loro delle vostre; perocché infallibilmente elleno pervertiranno i vostri cuori, per farvi seguire i loro dei. A tali donne adunque si unì Salomone con ardentissimo affetto.	2 These were of the nations about whom the Lord said to the sons of Israel: “You shall not enter to them, and none of them shall enter to anyone of yours. For they will most certainly turn aside your hearts, so that you follow their gods.” And yet, to these Solomon was joined with a greatly enflamed love.
3 Ed ebbe settecento mogli quasi regine, e trecento concubine: e queste, donne gli pervertirono il cuore.	3 And for him, there were seven hundred wives, as if they were queens, and three hundred concubines. And the women turned aside his heart.
4 Ed essendo egli già vecchio, fu per opera delle donne depravato il cuore di lui sino a farlo andar dietro a dei stranieri; e il cuore di lui non fu sincero col Signore Dio suo, come fu il cuore di Davidde suo padre.	4 And when now he was old, his heart was perverted by the women, so that he followed strange gods. And his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.
5 Ma Salomone rendea culto ad Astarte dea de' Sidonj, e a Moloch idolo degli Ammoniti.	5 For Solomon worshipped Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, and Milcom, the idol of the Ammonites.
6 E fece Salomone quello, che non piaceva al Signore, e non perseverò in seguire il Signore, come fece Davidde suo padre.	6 And Solomon did what was not pleasing in the sight of the Lord. And he did not continue to follow the Lord, as his father David did.
7 Allora fu, che Salomone eresse un adoratorio a Chamos, idolo di Moab, sul monte, che sta dirimpetto a Gerusalemme, e a Moloch, idolo de' figliuoli di Ammon.	7 Then Solomon built a shrine for Chemosh, the idol of Moab, on the mount that is opposite Jerusalem, and for Milcom, the idol of the sons of Ammon.
8 E la stessa cosa fece per tutte le sue mogli straniere, le quali bruciavano incensi, e sagrificavano agli dei loro.	8 And he acted in this manner for all his foreign wives, who were burning incense and immolating to their gods.
9 Il Signore pertanto si sdegnò contro Salomone, perchè l'animo di lui si era alienato dal Signore Dio d'Israele, il quale eragli apparito per due volte,	9 And so, the Lord became angry with Solomon, because his mind had been turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,
10 E lo avea ammonito intorno a questo di non andar dietro agli dei stranieri; ma egli non osservò il comando del Signore.	10 and who had instructed him about this matter, lest he follow strange gods. But he did not observe what the Lord commanded to him.
11 Disse adunque a Salomone il Signore: Perchè tale (peccato) è in te, e non hai mantenuto il mio patto, e gli ordini, ch'io ti ho dati, io squarcerò, e spezzerò il tuo regno, e darollo ad un tuo servo.	11 And so, the Lord said to Solomon: “Because you have this with you, and because you have not kept my covenant and my precepts, which I commanded to you, I will tear apart your kingdom, and I will give it to your servant.
12 Ma nol farò io vivente te, per amor di Davidde tuo padre: io lo spezzerò tralle mani del tuo figliuolo,	12 Yet truly, I will not do it in your days, for the sake of your father David. From the hand of your son, I will tear it away.
13 E non torrò a lui tutto il regno, ma una tribù darò al tuo figliuolo, per amor di Davidde mio servo, e di Gerusalemme eletta da me.	13 Neither will I take away the whole kingdom. Instead, I will grant one tribe to your son, for the sake of David, my servant, and Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”
14 Or il Signore suscitò un nemico a Salomone, Adad Idumeo della stirpe reale, che era nell'Idumea.	14 Then the Lord raised up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad of Idumea, from an offspring of the king who was in Idumea.
15 Imperocché essendo Davidde nell'Idumea, ed essendo andato Gioab capitano delle genti da guerra a dar sepoltura a quelli, che eran rimasti uccisi, e ad uccidere tutti i maschi dell'Idumea	15 For when David was in Idumea, Joab, the leader of the military, had ascended to bury those who had been killed, and he had killed every male in Idumea.
16 (Conciossiachè per sei mesi ivi si trattenne Gioab, e tutto Israele, affine di porre a morte tutti i maschi dell'Idumea),	16 And Joab remained in that place for six months, with all of Israel, until he had put to death every male in Idumea.
17 Lo stesso Adad se ne fuggì accompagnato da altri Idumei servi del padre suo, per andar in Egitto: e Adad era di poca età.	17 Then Hadad fled, he and some men of Idumea from among the servants of his father with him, so that he might enter into Egypt. But Hadad was then a little boy.
18 E questi partitisi da Madian, giunsero a Pharan, e preser seco gente di Pharan, ed entrati in Egitto si presentarono a Faraone re dell'Egitto, il quale diede a lui casa, e vitto, e gli assegnò de' terreni.	18 And when they had risen up from Midian, they went into Paran, and they took with them some men from Paran. And they went into Egypt, to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And he gave him a house, and he appointed food for him, and he assigned land to him.
19 E Adad s'ingrazianì talmente con Faraone, che questi gli diede per moglie una sorella germana della regina Taphnes sua moglie.	19 And Hadad found great favor before Pharaoh, so much so that he gave to him as wife, the sister of his own wife, queen Tahpenes.
20 E dalla sorella di Tuphnes ebbe egli il figliuolo Genubath, il quale da Taphnes fu allevato nella casa di Faraone; onde Genubath abitava in casa di Faraone co' figliuoli del re.	20 And the sister of Tahpenes bore to him a son, Genubath. And Tahpenes raised him in the house of Pharaoh. And Genubath was living with Pharaoh and his sons.
21 Or avendo Adad sentito in Egitto, come Davidde si era addormentato co' padri suoi, e che Gioab capitano delle milizie era morto, disse a Faraone: Dammi licenza, ch'io men vada al mio paese.	21 And when Hadad had heard in Egypt that David had slept with his fathers, and that Joab, the leader of the military, had died, he said to Pharaoh, “Release me, so that I may go to my own land.”
22 E Faraone gli disse: Che ti manca in mia casa, onde tu abbi da cercare di andartene al tuo paese? E quegli rispose: Niente; ma ti prego di darmi licenza.	22 And Pharaoh said to him, “But what is lacking to you with me, so that you would seek to go to your own land?” But he responded: “Nothing. Yet I beg you that you may release me.”
23 Suscitò ancora Dio a lui un altro nimico, Hazon figliuolo di Eliada, il quale avea abbandonato Adarezer re di Soba suo signore.	23 Also, God raised up against him an adversary, Rezon, the son of Eliada, who had fled from his lord, Hadad-Ezer, the king of Zobah.
24 Ed egli adunò gente contro di lui, e diventò capitano di ladroni, ai quali Davidde faceva aspra guerra; ed egli no se n' andarono a Damasco, e ivi abitarono, e a Razon diedero il regno di Damasco.	24 And he gathered together men against him. And when David put those of Zobah to death, he became a leader of robbers. And they went away to Damascus, and they lived there. And they appointed him to be king of Damascus.
25 Ed egli fu nemico d'Israele per tutto il tempo di Salomone: e questo oltre il flagello di Adad, e l'odio di lui contro Israele: egli regnò nella Siria.	25 And he was an adversary to Israel during all the days of Solomon. And such is the evil of Hadad and of his hatred against Israel. And he reigned in Syria.
26 Parimente Geroboam figliuolo di Nabath, Ephratheo, di Sareda, servo di Salomone, di cui la madre vedova chiamavasi Sarva, si ribellò contro il re.	26 Also, there was Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, an Ephraimite from Zeredah, a servant of Solomon, whose mother was named Zeruah, a widowed woman. He lifted up his hand against the king.
27 E la causa, per cui si ribellò contro di lui, ella è questa, perchè Salomone edificò Mello, e colmò la voragine della città di Davidde suo padre.	27 And this is the reason for his rebellion against him: that Solomon built up Millo, and that he filled in a deep hole in the city of David, his father.
28 Or Geroboam era uom valoroso, e possente, e Salomone veggendolo giovane di buona indole, e attivo, gli avea data la soprintendenza de' tributi di tutta la casa di Giuseppe.	28 Now Jeroboam was a valiant and powerful man. And perceiving the young man to be ingenious and industrious, Solomon appointed him as first ruler over the tributes of the entire house of Joseph.
29 Or in quel tempo egli avvenne, che uscendo Geroboam da Gerusalemme, si imbattè per istrada in Ahia di Silo, profeta, il quale era coperto di un mantello nuovo: ed erano loro due soli nella campagna.	29 And it happened, in that time, that Jeroboam departed from Jerusalem. And the prophet Ahijah, the Shilonite, wearing with a new cloak, found him on the way. And the two were alone in the field.
30 E Ahia preso il suo mantello nuovo, che aveva addosso, lo spezzò in dodici parti.	30 And taking his new cloak, with which he was covered, Ahijah tore it into twelve parts.
31 E disse a Geroboam: Prendi perte dieci pezzi; perocché così dice il Signore Dio d'Israele: Ecco, che io spezzerò tralle mani di Salomone il regno, e daronne a te dieci tribù.	31 And he said to Jeroboam: “Take ten pieces for yourself. For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘Behold, I will tear the kingdom from the hand of Solomon, and I will give to you ten tribes.
32 Ma una tribù resterà a lui per amor di Davidde mio servo, e la città di Gerusalemme eletta da me fra tutte le tribù d'Israele:	32 Yet one tribe shall remain with him, for the sake of my servant, David, as well as Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel.
33 Perchè egli mi ha abbandonato, e ha renduto culto ad Astarte dea de' Sidonj, e a Chamos dio di Moab, e a Moloch dio de' figliuoli di Ammon; e non ha camminato nelle mie vie, per adempire quello, che è giusto dinanzi a me, e i miei comandamenti, e le mie leggi, come Davidde suo padre.	33 For he has abandoned me, and he has adored Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, and Chemosh, the god of Moab, and Milcom, the god of the sons of Ammon. And he has not walked in my ways, so that he would do justice before me, and so that he would carry out my precepts and judgments, as his father David did.
34 Ma nulla parte del regno terrò dalle mani di lui; ma farò, che egli il governi per tutto il tempo di sua vita, per amor di Davidde mio servo eletto da me, il quale osservò i miei comandamenti, e le mie leggi.	34 But I will not take the entire kingdom from his hand. Instead, I will establish him as the ruler during all the days of his life, for the sake of my servant David, whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my precepts.
35 Ma terrò il regno dalle mani del suo figliuolo, e a te darò dieci tribù:	35 But I will take away the kingdom from the hand of his son, and I will give to you ten tribes.
36 E al figliuolo di lui darò una tribù, affinchè resti pel mio servo Davidde un piccol lume in perpetuo dinanzi a me in Gerusalemme, città eletta da me, per chè ivi si onorasse il nome mio.	36 Then, to his son, I will give one tribe, so that there may remain a lamp for my servant David before me, for all days, in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen, so that my name would be there.
37 E io prenderò te, e regnerai sopra tutto quello, che tu più ami, e sarai re sopra Israele.	37 And I will take you up, and you shall reign over all that your soul desires. And you shall be king over Israel.
38 Se tu adunque sarai attento a tutto quello, ch'io ti ordinerò, e camminerai nelle mie vie, e farai quello, che è giusto dinanzi a me, osservando i miei comandamenti, e le mie leggi, come fece Davidde mio servo, io sarò con te, e ti edificherò una casa permanente, come edificai la casa di Davidde, e ti farò signore d'Israele.	38 Therefore, if you will listen to all that I will command you, and if you will walk in my ways, and do what is right in my sight, keeping my commandments and my precepts, just as my servant David did, then I will be with you, and I will build for you a faithful house, in the way that I built a house for David, and I will deliver Israel to you.
39 E umilierò in questo la stirpe di Davidde, ma non per sempre.	39 And I will afflict the offspring of David over this, but truly not for all days.’ ”
40 Salomone adunque tentò di far uccidere Geroboam; ma egli andò a rifugiarsi in Egitto presso di Sesac re dell Egitto, e stette in Egitto fino alla morte di Salomone.	40 Therefore, Solomon wanted to kill Jeroboam. But he rose up and fled away to Egypt, to Shishak, the king of Egypt. And he was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.
41 Or tutte le altre geste di Salomone, e tutto quello, che egli operò, e la sua sapienza, tutto sta scritto nel libro dei Giorni di Salomone.	41 Now the rest of the words of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom: behold, these are all written in the book of the words of the days of Solomon.
42 E il tempo, che Salomone regnò in Gerusalemme sopra tutto Israele, fu di quarant' anni.	42 And the days that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem, over all of Israel, were forty years.
43 E Salomone si addormentò co' Padri suoi, e fu sepolto nella città di Davidde suo padre; e succedette a lui nel regno Roboam suo figliuolo.	43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David, his father. And Rehoboam, his son, reigned in his place.
