| 1 All'Angelo della Chiesa d'Efeso scrivi: ecco quanto dico Colui che tien nella destra le sette stelle e cammina in mezzo ai sette candelabri d'oro: | 1 "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: 'The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands. |
| 2 So le tue opere e le tue fatiche e la tua pazienza e che non puoi sopportare i cattivi, e che hai messo alla prova coloro che si spaccian per apostoli e noi sono, e li hai trovati bugiardi, | 2 "'I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear evil men but have tested those who call themselves apostles but are not, and found them to be false; |
| 3 che sei paziente ed hai sofferto pel mio nome e non hai ceduto; | 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary. |
| 4 ma ho contro di te che hai abbandonata la primiera tua carità. | 4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. |
| 5 Ricordati dunque da quale altezza sei caduto e fai penitenza, e torna ad operar come prima, altrimenti, se non ti ravvedi, verrò da te e torrò dal suo posto il tuo candelabro. | 5 Remember then from what you have fallen, repent and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. |
| 6 Hai però questo di buono, che odii le opere dei Nicolaiti, che odio anch'io. | 6 Yet this you have, you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. |
| 7 Chi ha orecchi ascolti quel che lo Spirito dica alle Chiese: Al vincitore io darò a mangiare dell'albero della vita che è in mezzo al Paradiso del mio Dio. | 7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.' |
| 8 E all'Angelo della Chiesa di Smirne scrivi: ecco quanto dice Colui che è il primo e l'ultimo, fu morto e vive: | 8 "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: 'The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life. |
| 9 So la tua tribolazione e la tua povertà; ma sei ricco, e sei bestemmiato da quelli che si dicono Giudei e noi sono, e sono invece la Sinagoga di satana. | 9 "'I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. |
| 10 Non ti spaventare di quello che stai per patire. Ecco il diavolo caccerà in prigione alcuni di voi, per mettervi alla prova, e sarete tribolati per dieci giorni. Sii fedele fino alla morte, e ti darò la corona di vita. | 10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. |
| 11 Chi ha orecchi ascolti quel che lo Spirito dica alle Chiese: Il vincitore non sarà offeso dalla morte seconda. | 11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who conquers shall not be hurt by the second death.' |
| 12 E all'Angelo della Chiesa di Pergamo scrivi: ecco quanto dice Colui che tiene la spada a due tagli: | 12 "And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: 'The words of him who has the sharp two-edged sword. |
| 13 So dove abiti, là dove satana ha il trono, e che ritieni il mio nome e non hai rinnegata la mia fede, nemmeno in quei giorni in cui Antipa, martire mio fedele, fu ucciso in mezzo a voi, là dove abita satana. | 13 "'I know where you dwell, where Satan's throne is; you hold fast my name and you did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. |
| 14 Ma ho contro di te alcune poche cose: tu hai costì chi tiene la dottrina di Balaam, il quale insegnava a Balac a mettere scandalo davanti ai figlioli d'Israele perchè mangiassero e fornicassero. | 14 But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice immorality. |
| 15 Così hai anche tu chi tiene la dottrina dei Nicolaiti. | 15 So you also have some who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. |
| 16 Fa dunque penitenza, altrimenti verrò quanto prima da te e combatterò contro essi colla spada della mia bocca. | 16 Repent then. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth. |
| 17 Chi ha orecchi ascolti quel che dica lo Spirito alle Chiese: Al vincitore darò nascosta manna, e gli darò il sassolino bianco, nel quale sarà scritto un nome nuovo, che nessuno conosce se non colui che lo riceve. | 17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone which no one knows except him who receives it.' |
| 18 E all'Angelo della Chiesa di Tiatira scrivi: ecco quanto dice il Figliolo di Dio, che ha gli occhi come fuoco fiammante e i piedi simili al rame: | 18 "And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: 'The words of the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze. |
| 19 So le tue opere, la fede, la carità, i servigi e la pazienza, e le tue ultime opere, più numerose delle prime. | 19 "'I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first. |
| 20 Ma ho contro di te poche cose, che, cioè, tu permetti alla donna Gezabele, la quale si spaccia per profetessa, di insegnare e sedurre i miei servi, affinchè s'abbandonino alla fornicazione e mangino cose immolate agli idoli. | 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and beguiling my servants to practice immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. |
| 21 E le ho dato tempo di far penitenza; ma siccome non vuol fare penitenza della sua fornicazione, | 21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her immorality. |
| 22 ecco che io la stenderò in un letto, e manderò grandi afflizioni ai complici dei suoi adulterii se non faran penitenza delle opere loro, | 22 Behold, I will throw her on a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her doings; |
| 23 e farò morire i figlioli di lei, e così tutte le Chiese loro, e tutte le Chiese sapranno che io scruto gli affetti del cuore; e darò a ciascuno di voi secondo le sue opere. Ma a voi | 23 and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches shall know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve. |
| 24 e a tutti gli altri di Tiatira che non tengono tal dottrina e non conoscono le profondità, come essi le chiamano (profondità di satana), io dico: non imporrò a voi altro peso; | 24 But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan, to you I say, I do not lay upon you any other burden; |
| 25 ritenete però quello che avete, finché io non venga. | 25 only hold fast what you have, until I come. |
| 26 Al vincitore e a chi praticherà sino alla fine le opere mie, gli darò potestà sopra le nazioni, | 26 He who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, I will give him power over the nations, |
| 27 e le governerà con verga di ferro e le frantumerà come vasi d'argilla, | 27 and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I myself have received power from my Father; |
| 28 come anche io ottenni (di fare) dal Padre mio. E gli darò la stella del mattino. | 28 and I will give him the morning star. |
| 29 Chi ha orecchi ascolti quel che lo Spirito dica alle Chiese. | 29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' |
