BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Tutti i figli d'Israele s'adunarono in Silo, ove alzarono il Tabernacolo del testimonio, e il paese fu loro soggetto. Il paese che resta da distribuire.	1 The whole community of the Israelites assembled at Shiloh, and the Tent of Meeting was set up there;the whole country had been subdued for them.
2 Sette tribù dei figli d'Israele erano restate senza ricevere i loro possessi.	2 But among the Israelites there were still seven tribes left who had not received their heritage.
3 Giosuè disse loro: « Fino a quando marcirete nell'ozio, senza entrare a posseder la terra che il Signore dei padri vostri vi ha data?	3 Joshua then said to the Israelites, 'How much more time are you going to waste before you go andtake possession of the country which Yahweh, God of your ancestors, has given to you?
4 Scegliete da ogni tribù tre uomini, chè li mandi a fare il giro del paese per descriverlo secondo il numero di ciascun popolo, e poi riferirmi ciò che avranno descritto.	4 Choose three men from each tribe for me to send al over the country so that they can make a surveywith a view to their inheritances and then come back to me.
5 Dividetevi la terra in sette parti: Giuda rimanga nei suoi confini dalla parte del mezzodì, e la casa di Giuseppe da settentrione.	5 They wil divide the country into seven portions. Judah wil remain in his territory in the south, andthose of the House of Joseph wil remain in their territory in the north.
6 Descritta che abbiate in sette parti la terra che è in mezzo a questi, venite qui da me, chè vi tiri la sorte qui davanti al Signore Dio vostro;	6 You must survey the country in seven sections and bring your findings to me here, so that I can castlots for you here, in the presence of Yahweh our God.
7 giacché i leviti non hanno tra voi alcuna parte, essendo il sacerdozio del Signore la loro eredità; Gad, Ruben e mezza tribù di Manasse han ricevuti di là dal Giordano, a levante, i loro possessi che diede loro Mosè servo del Signore ».	7 The Levites, however, wil have no portion with the rest of you; the priesthood of Yahweh wil be theirheritage. As regards Gad and Reuben and the half-tribe of Manasseh, they have received their heritage on thefurther, eastern side of the Jordan, the one given them by Moses, servant of Yahweh.'
8 Nel mandare quegli uomini a descrivere la terra, Giosuè diede loro quest'ordine: « Fate il giro del paese e descrivetelo, e poi tornate da me, affinchè qui in Silo, dinanzi al Signore, io vi tiri la sorte ».	8 The men stood up and set off. To those who were to survey the country Joshua gave this order, 'Startout, then, go al over the country, survey it, and then come back to me; and I shal cast lots for you here, in thepresence of Yahweh, at Shiloh.'
9 Essi dunque andarono, ed esaminata con cura la terra, la divisero in sette parti, scrivendole in un libro. E tornarono a Giosuè nel campo di Silo.	9 The men left, went al over the country and surveyed it by towns, in seven sections, writing down theirfindings in a book, and then went back to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh.
10 Ed egli tirò le sorti dinanzi al Signore in Silo, e divise la terra ai figli d'Israele in sette parti.	10 Joshua cast lots for them in Yahweh's presence at Shiloh, and there Joshua divided the countrybetween the Israelites, share by share.
11 E la prima sorte fu per i figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie, affinchè possedessero la terra che è tra i figli di Giuda e i figli di Giuseppe.	11 A portion fell first to the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans: the territory of their portion laybetween the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.
12 Il confine di Beniamino a settentrione parte dal Giordano, si stende presso il lato settentrionale di Gerico, di là sale verso occidente alla montagna, e arriva fino al deserto di Betaven,	12 Their northern frontier began at the Jordan, went up the flank of Jericho to the north, climbedwestwards through the highlands and came out at the desert of Beth-Aven.
13 passa a Sud vicino a Luza, detta anche Betel; scende in Atarotaddar, verso il monte che sta a Sud di Betoron inferiore,	13 Thence, the frontier went on to Luz, on the southern flank of Luz -- now Bethel-and then down toAtaroth-Arach, on the mountain south of Lower Beth-Horon.
14 poi declina, girando verso il mare a mezzodì della montagna che guarda Betoron verso Sud, e finisce a Cariatbaal, detta anche Cariatiarim, città dei figli di Giuda: questa è la parte verso il mare a ponente.	14 At this westerly point, the frontier curved round and turned south, from the mountain facing Beth-Horon from the south and came out at Kiriath-Baal, now Kiriath-Jearim, a town of the sons of Judah. That wasthe western side.
15 Da mezzodì poi il suo confine corre dalla parte di Cariatiarim verso il mare, giunge fino alla fontana di Neftoa,	15 This was the south side: from the tip of Kiriath-Jearim, the frontier went to Gasin and came out nearthe spring of the Waters of Nephtoah,
16 scende verso la parte del monte che guarda la valle dei figli di Ennom, situata all'estremità della valle di Rafaim, a settentrione. Poi scende a Geennono valle di Ennon, a lato del Gebuseo a mezzodì, e arriva alla fonte di Rogeli.	16 it then went down to the edge of the mountain facing the Val ey of Hinnom, in the Valley of theRephaim to the north; it then went down into the Val ey of Hinnom, past the southerly flank of the Jebusite, andwent down to En-Rogel.
17 Va poi verso Nord e si stende fino ad Ensemes, cioè alla fonte del sole;	17 It then curved northwards, coming out at En-Shemesh, and came out at the stone circle opposite theAscent of Adummim, then went down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.
18 giunge ai tumuli che sono di faccia alla salita di Adommim, scende a Abenboen, o pietra di Boen, figlio di Ruben; va a Nord fino alla campagna, scende al piano,	18 It then went on to Cheteph on the flank of Beth-ha-Arabah northwards, and went down into theArabah;
19 poi torna a Nord oltre Betaglae finisce alla punta settentrionale del Mar Salato, alla foce del Giordano, a mezzodì.	19 the frontier then passed round the northern flank of Beth-Hoglah, and the frontier came out at thenorthern bay of the Salt Sea, at the southern end of the Jordan. Such was the southern frontier.
20 Il Giordano ne è il confine orientale. Questo è il territorio dei figli di Beniamino secondo i loro confini all'intorno e le loro famiglie.	20 The Jordan itself formed the frontier on the east. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin asdefined by their frontier, by clans.
21 Le sue città furono: Gerico, Betagla, la valle di Casis,	21 The towns of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans, were:
22 Bet Araba, Samaraim, Betel,	22 Jericho, Beth-Hoglah, Emek-Keziz;
23 Avim, Afara, Ofera,	23 Beth-Arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel; Avvim, Parah, Ophrah;
24 il villaggio di Emona, Ofni, Gabee: dodici città coi loro villaggi.	24 Chephar-Ammoni, Ophni, Geba: twelve towns and their vil ages.
25 Gabaon, Rama, Berot,	25 Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth;
26 Mesfe, Catara, Amosa,	26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah;
27 Recem, Iarefel, Tarela,	27 Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah;
28 gela, Elef, Iebus, Gerusalemme, Gabaat, Cariat: quattordici città coi loro villaggi. Questo è il territorio dei figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie.	28 Zela-ha-Eleph, the Jebusite -- that is, Jerusalem -- Gibeah and Kiriath: fourteen towns with theirvil ages. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin, by clans.
