Lettera ai Filippesi 1

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Paolo e Timoteo, servi di Gesù Cristo, a tutti i santi in Cristo Gesù che sono in Filippi, insieme ai vescovi e ai diaconi:	1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, togetherwith their presiding elders and the deacons.
2 grazia a voi o pace da Dio padre nostro e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.	2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Rendo grazie al mio Dio ogni volta che mi ricordo di voi,	3 I thank my God whenever I think of you,
4 e sempre, in ogni mia preghiera per tutti voi, con gioia prego per voi,	4 and every time I pray for you al , I always pray with joy
5 a motivo della parte che avete presa nel progresso del Vangelo, dal primo giorno fino ad oggi,	5 for your partnership in the gospel from the very first day up to the present.
6 e nutro fiducia che colui, il quale ha cominciato in voi l'opera buona, la perfezionerà fino al giorno di Cristo Gesù.	6 I am quite confident that the One who began a good work in you wil go on completing it until the Day ofJesus Christ comes.
7 Ed è ben giusto che io riguardo a tutti voi nutra questi sentimenti, perchè ho nel cuore che voi tutti e nelle mie catene e nella difesa e nella conferma del Vangelo avete partecipato alla mia gioia.	7 It is only right that I should feel like this towards you all, because you have a place in my heart, sinceyou have all shared together in the grace that has been mine, both my chains and my work defending andestablishing the gospel.
8 Dio mi è testimonio come io ami voi tutti nelle viscere di Gesù Cristo.	8 For God wil testify for me how much I long for you al with the warm longing of Christ Jesus;
9 E questo io domando, che la vostra carità abbondi semprepiù nella conoscenza e in ogni fìnezza di discernimento,	9 it is my prayer that your love for one another may grow more and more with the knowledge andcomplete understanding
10 affinchè eleggiate il meglio, siate schietti e irreprensibili fino al giorno di Cristo,	10 that will help you to come to true discernment, so that you wil be innocent and free of any trace of guiltwhen the Day of Christ comes,
11 ricolmi per Gesù Cristo di frutti di giustizia a gloria e lode di Dio.	11 entirely fil ed with the fruits of uprightness through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.
12 Or voglio che voi sappiate, o fratelli, come le cose avvenutemi hanno maggiormente contribuito al progresso del Vangelo,	12 Now I want you to realise, brothers, that the circumstances of my present life are helping rather thanhindering the advance of the gospel.
13 intanto che a tutto il pretorio e a tutti gii altri è noto come per la causa di Cristo io sia in catene,	13 My chains in Christ have become wel known not only to al the Praetorium, but to everybody else,
14 e molti dei fratelli nel Signore, avendo preso coraggio dalle mie catene, han raddoppiato l'ardire nell'annunziare senza paura la parola di Dio.	14 and so most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my chains and are getting moreand more daring in announcing the Message without any fear.
15 Alcuni, è vero, predicano Cristo per invidia e per picca, ma altri con buona volontà:	15 It is true that some of them are preaching Christ out of malice and rivalry; but there are many as welwhose intentions are good;
16 questi, mossi dalla carità, ben sapendo che io sono stato messo a difesa del Vangelo;	16 some are doing it out of love, knowing that I remain firm in my defence of the gospel.
17 quelli per picca annunziano Cristo, senza sincerità, credendo di aggiungere affanni alle mie catene.	17 There are others who are proclaiming Christ out of jealousy, not in sincerity but meaning to add to theweight of my chains.
18 Ma che me ne importa? O che sia per pretesto o con lealtà, purché in ogni modo sia predicato Cristo, e ne godo e ne godrò,	18 But what does it matter? Only that in both ways, whether with false motives or true, Christ isproclaimed, and for that I am happy;
19 perché so bene che ciò mi gioverà a salute, grazie alle vostre a preghiere e all'assistenza dello Spirito di Gesù Cristo.	19 and I shal go on being happy, too, because I know that this is what wil save me, with your prayers andwith the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;
20 Secondo quanto aspetto e quanto spero, non avrò da arrossire di nessuna cosa, ma con tutta franchezza, come sempre, Cristo sarà glorificato nella mia per­sona, sia con la vita, sia colla morte,	20 al in accordance with my most confident hope and trust that I shal never have to admit defeat, but withcomplete fearlessness I shall go on, so that now, as always, Christ wil be glorified in my body, whether by mylife or my death.
21 perchè la mia vita è Cristo, e la morte è per me un guadagno.	21 Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain.
22 Se poi il vivere nella carne mi cresce i frutti dell'opera, non so che scegliere,	22 On the other hand again, if to be alive in the body gives me an opportunity for fruitful work, I do notknow which I should choose.
23 e sono messo alle strette da due lati: desidero di morire e di essere con Cristo, che è molto meglio;	23 I am caught in this dilemma: I want to be gone and to be with Christ, and this is by far the strongerdesire-
24 ma è necessario per voi ch'io rimanga nella carne.	24 and yet for your sake to stay alive in this body is a more urgent need.
25 Son quindi persuaso di rimanere e di poter dimorare in mezzo a voi tutti a vostro profitto e a gioia della fede,	25 This much I know for certain, that I shal stay and stand by you al , to encourage your advance andyour joy in the faith,
26 in modo che pel mio nuovo ritorno presso di voi abbiate maggior ragione di congratularvi a mio riguardo in Cristo Gesù.	26 so that my return to be among you may increase to overflowing your pride in Jesus Christ on myaccount.
27 Diportatevi soltanto in modo degno del Vangelo di Cristo, affinchè (o venga e vi vegga, o stia lontano) senta dire di voi che siete costanti in un solo spirito e in un'anima sola, collaborando per la fede del Vangelo;	27 But you must always behave in a way that is worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come toyou and see for myself or whether I only hear al about you from a distance, I shall find that you are standing firmand united in spirit, battling, as a team with a single aim, for the faith of the gospel,
28 senza lasciarvi per nulla intimidire dagli avversari; quello che per essi è causa di perdizione, per voi è di salute, e ciò è da Dio,	28 undismayed by any of your opponents. This will be a clear sign, for them that they are to be lost, andfor you that you are to be saved.
29 perchè per mezzo di Cristo a voi è stato dato come grazia non solo di credere in lui, ma anche di patire per lui,	29 This comes from God, for you have been granted the privilege for Christ's sake not only of believing inhim but of suffering for him as wel ;
30 e di sostenere la medesima lotta che vedeste in me e che ora sentiste di me.	30 you are fighting the same battle which you saw me fighting for him and which you hear I am fightingstill.
