Lettera ai Romani 5

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Giustificati adunque mediante la fede, abbiamo pace con Dio per mezzo del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo,	1 So then, now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord JesusChrist;
2 a cui dobbiamo d'avore por la fede accesso a questa grazia, nella quale stiam saldi, e di gloriarci nella speranza della gloria dei figli di Dio.	2 it is through him, by faith, that we have been admitted into God's favour in which we are living, andlook forward exultantly to God's glory.
3 E non soltanto di questo ci gloriamo, ma anche delle tribolazioni, sapendo come la tribolazione produce la pazienza,	3 Not only that; let us exult, too, in our hardships, understanding that hardship develops perseverance,
4 la pazienza l'esperienza, l'esperienza la speranza.	4 and perseverance develops a tested character, something that gives us hope,
5 Or la speranza non inganna, perchè la carità di Dio è stata diffusa nei nostri cuori per mezzo dello Spirito Santo, che ci è stato donato.	5 and a hope which will not let us down, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by theHoly Spirit which has been given to us.
6 Per qual motivo adunque, mentre noi eravamo impotenti, Cristo, nel tempo stabilito, è morto per gli empi?	6 When we were stil helpless, at the appointed time, Christ died for the godless.
7 Or è difficile che uno muoia per un giusto, pure può darsi che per un uomo dabbene qualcuno abbia il coraggio di morire;	7 You could hardly find anyone ready to die even for someone upright; though it is just possible that, fora real y good person, someone might undertake to die.
8 ma Dio mostra la sua carità verso di noi, per­chè, essendo ancora peccatori, nel tempo stabilito	8 So it is proof of God's own love for us, that Christ died for us while we were stil sinners.
9 Cristo è morto per noi. Tanto più dunque ora che siam giustificati nel suo sangue, saremo salvi dall'ira per mezzo di lui.	9 How much more can we be sure, therefore, that, now that we have been justified by his death, we shalbe saved through him from the retribution of God.
10 Perchè, se quando oravamo nemici siamo stati riconciliati con Dio mediante la morte del suo Figliuolo, molto piu essendo riconciliati saremo salvi mediante la sua vita.	10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how muchmore can we be sure that, being now reconciled, we shal be saved by his life.
11 Di più ancora ci gloriamo in Dio per Gesù Cristo Signor nostro, per mezzo del quale abbiamo ora ottenuta la riconciliazione.	11 What is more, we are filled with exultant trust in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whomwe have already gained our reconciliation.
12 Così, dunque, per un sol uomo il peccato è entrato nel mondo e col peccato la morte, e la morte si è estesa a tutti gli uomini, perchè tutti hanno (in Adamo) peccato.	12 Wel then; it was through one man that sin came into the world, and through sin death, and thus deathhas spread through the whole human race because everyone has sinned.
13 Anche prima della legge il peccato era nel mondo, ma non era imputato, non essendovi legge;	13 Sin already existed in the world before there was any law, even though sin is not reckoned whenthere is no law.
14 eppure la morte regnò da Adamo fino a Mosè, anche sopra coloro che non avevano peccato di prevaricazione, come Adamo, il quale è figura di Colui che doveva venire.	14 Nonetheless death reigned over al from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sin was not thebreaking of a commandment, as Adam's was. He prefigured the One who was to come . . .
15 Ma il dono è stato ben differente dal delitto; perchè se per il delitto di un solo molti perirono, molto più la grazia e la liberalità di Dio, in grazia di un sol uomo, Gesù Cristo, abbondò in molti.	15 There is no comparison between the free gift and the offence. If death came to many through theoffence of one man, how much greater an effect the grace of God has had, coming to so many and so plentiful yas a free gift through the one man Jesus Christ!
16 V'è ancora differenza tra il peccato di un solo e il dono, perchè il giudizio da un solo peccato va alla condanna, la grazia invece da molti peccati va alla giustificazione.	16 Again, there is no comparison between the gift and the offence of one man. One single offencebrought condemnation, but now, after many offences, have come the free gift and so acquittal!
17 Difatti se per il delitto d'un solo e per un solo regnò la morte, con più ragione coloro che ricevono l'abbondanza della grazia e del dono della giustizia regneranno nella vita per il solo Gesù Cristo.	17 It was by one man's offence that death came to reign over all, but how much greater the reign in lifeof those who receive the ful ness of grace and the gift of saving justice, through the one man, Jesus Christ.
18 Quindi, come pel delitto di un solo (venne) sopra tutti gli uomini la dannazione, cosi per la giustizia d'un solo è in tutti gli uomini la giustificazione vivificante.	18 One man's offence brought condemnation on al humanity; and one man's good act has broughtjustification and life to all humanity.
19 Così pure, come per la disobbedienza d'un solo uomo molti son costituiti peccatori, anche per l'obbedienza d'un solo molti saran costituiti giusti.	19 Just as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience are manyto be made upright.
20 Or la legge intervenne perchè abbondasse il peccato; ma dove abbondò il peccato sovrabbondò la grazia,	20 When law came on the scene, it was to multiply the offences. But however much sin increased, gracewas always greater;
21 affinchè come il peccato regnò colla morte, cosi la grazia regni mediante la giustizia per dare la vita eterna per mezzo di Gesù Cristo Signor nostro.	21 so that as sin's reign brought death, so grace was to rule through saving justice that leads to eternallife through Jesus Christ our Lord.
