Levitico 12

1 E il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:	1 The LORD said to Moses,
2 « Parla ai figli d'Israele e di' loro: Se una donna, dopo aver concepito, partorisce un maschio, sarà immonda per sette giorni, come nei giorni del flusso mensile.	2 "Tell the Israelites: When a woman has conceived and gives birth to a boy, she shall be unclean for seven days, with the same uncleanness as at her menstrual period.
3 Nell'ottavo giorno sarà circonciso il bambino;	3 On the eighth day, the flesh of the boy's foreskin shall be circumcised,
4 ma essa resterà trentatre giorni nel sangue della sua purificazione; non toccherà nulla di santo, e non entrerà nel santuario, finché non siano compiuti i giorni della sua purificazione.	4 and then she shall spend thirty-three days more in becoming purified of her blood; she shall not touch anything sacred nor enter the sanctuary till the days of her purification are fulfilled.
5 Se poi avrà partorito una figlia, sarà immonda per due settimane, come nel suo flusso mensile, e starà sessantasei giorni nel sangue della sua purificazione.	5 If she gives birth to a girl, for fourteen days she shall be as unclean as at her menstruation, after which she shall spend sixty-six days in becoming purified of her blood.
6 E compiuti che siano i giorni della sua purificazione, sia pel figlio che per la figlia, porterà all'ingresso del Tabernacolo della testimonianza un agnello di un anno per l'olocausto, e un colombino o una tortora per il peccalo. Li darà al sacerdote,	6 "When the days of her purification for a son or for a daughter are fulfilled, she shall bring to the priest at the entrance of the meeting tent a yearling lamb for a holocaust and a pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering.
7 il quale li offrirà dinanzi al Signore, farà orazione per lei, e così ella sarà purificata dal flusso del suo sangue. Questa, è la legge per la donna che partorisce un maschio od una femmina.	7 The priest shall offer them up before the LORD to make atonement for her, and thus she will be clean again after her flow of blood. Such is the law for the woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl child.
8 Se essa poi non ha mezzi da offrire un agnello, prenderà due tortore o due colombini, uno per l'olocausto, l'altro per il placato: e il sacerdote farà orazione per essa; e così sarà purificata ».	8 If, however, she cannot afford a lamb, she may take two turtledoves or two pigeons, the one for a holocaust and the other for a sin offering. The priest shall make atonement for her, and thus she will again be clean."
