| 1 - E udii una gran voce dal tempio, che diceva ai sette angeli: «Andate e versate sulla terra le sette coppe del furore di Dio». | 1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, "Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God." |
| 2 E partì il primo e versò la sua coppa sulla terra, e venne un'ulcera cattiva e maligna sugli uomini che avevano il marchio della bestia e sugli adoratori della sua effigie. | 2 So the first angel went and poured his bowl on the earth, and foul and evil sores came upon the men who bore the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. |
| 3 E il secondo angelo versò la sua coppa nel mare, e [il mare] diventò come sangue d'un morto, e ogni essere vivente nel mare morì. | 3 The second angel poured his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of a dead man, and every living thing died that was in the sea. |
| 4 E il terzo versò la sua coppa ne' fiumi e sulle fonti delle acque, e diventarono sangue. | 4 The third angel poured his bowl into the rivers and the fountains of water, and they became blood. |
| 5 E udii l'angelo delle acque che diceva: «Giusto se' tu, [o Signore], tu che sei ed eri, tu il Santo, perchè hai così giudicato. | 5 And I heard the angel of water say, "Just art thou in these thy judgments, thou who art and wast, O Holy One. |
| 6 Han versato il sangue de' santi e de' profeti, e sangue hai dato loro a bere: [ben ne] son degni!». | 6 For men have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink. It is their due!" |
| 7 E udii un altro dall'altare che diceva: «Sì, o Signore Iddio onnipotente, veri e giusti sono i tuoi giudizi!». | 7 And I heard the altar cry, "Yea, Lord God the Almighty, true and just are thy judgments!" |
| 8 E il quarto angelo versò la sua coppa sul sole, e fu dato a questo di bruciare gli uomini con l'ardore e col fuoco. | 8 The fourth angel poured his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch men with fire; |
| 9 E furon arsi gli uomini da grande ardore, e bestemmiarono il nome di Dio, che ha potere su queste piaghe, e non si ravvidero per dargli gloria. | 9 men were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues, and they did not repent and give him glory. |
| 10 E il quinto angelo versò la sua coppa sul trono della bestia: e s'ottenebrò il suo regno, e si mordevan [gli uomini] la lingua per il travaglio, | 10 The fifth angel poured his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was in darkness; men gnawed their tongues in anguish |
| 11 e bestemmiavano Iddio nel cielo a causa de' loro travagli e delle loro piaghe; e [tuttavia] non si ravvidero dalle opere loro. | 11 and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores, and did not repent of their deeds. |
| 12 E il sesto angelo versò la sua coppa sul gran fiume l'Eufrate, e seccò le sue acque, perchè fosse preparata la via ai re dell'oriente. | 12 The sixth angel poured his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. |
| 13 E vidi dalla bocca del drago e dalla bocca della bestia e dalla bocca del falso profeta [uscir] tre spiriti immondi a forma di rane. | 13 And I saw, issuing from the mouth of the dragon and from the mouth of the beast and from the mouth of the false prophet, three foul spirits like frogs; |
| 14 Sono invero spiriti di demoni che fanno portenti, e vanno dai re di tutta la terra per radunarli alla guerra del gran giorno di Dio onnipotente. | 14 for they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. |
| 15 [Di questo giorno è stato detto]: «Ecco ch'io vengo come un ladro! Beato chi vigila e custodisce le sue vesti, perchè non abbia ad andar nudo, e vedan la sua vergogna». | 15 ("Lo, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is he who is awake, keeping his garments that he may not go naked and be seen exposed!") |
| 16 E li radunò nel luogo ch'è chiamato in ebraico «Armaghedon». | 16 And they assembled them at the place which is called in Hebrew Armageddon. |
| 17 E il settimo angelo versò la sua coppa nell'aria, e uscì una gran voce dal tempio, [giù] dal trono, la quale diceva: «È fatto!». | 17 The seventh angel poured his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, "It is done!" |
| 18 E seguiron lampi e voci e tuoni, e ci fu un gran terremoto, quale non c'era stato, da che uomo fu in terra, un terremoto tale, così grande. | 18 And there were flashes of lightning, voices, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as had never been since men were on the earth, so great was that earthquake. |
| 19 E la grande città si fece in tre parti, e le città delle genti caddero, e Babilonia la grande fu ricordata al cospetto di Dio, per darle il bicchiere del vino del furore dell'ira di lui. | 19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered great Babylon, to make her drain the cup of the fury of his wrath. |
| 20 E tutte le isole fuggirono, e i monti non si trovaron [più]. | 20 And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found; |
| 21 E grandine grossa come un talento cadde giù dal cielo sugli uomini. E bestemmiarono Iddio gli uomini per la piaga della grandine, perchè essa fu stragrande. | 21 and great hailstones, heavy as a hundred-weight, dropped on men from heaven, till men cursed God for the plague of the hail, so fearful was that plague. |
