Giosuè 18

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Tutti i figli d'Israele si riunirono in Silo, dove collocarono il tabernacolo dell'alleanza e il paese fu a loro assoggettato.	1 The whole community of the Israelites assembled at Shiloh, and the Tent of Meeting was set up there;the whole country had been subdued for them.
2 Restavano però ancora sette tribù dei figli di Israele, le quali non avevano ancora ricevuto i loro possedimenti.	2 But among the Israelites there were still seven tribes left who had not received their heritage.
3 Ad essi Giosuè disse: «Fin quando resterete nell'ignavia e non prenderete possesso della terra che il Signor Dio dei padri vostri vi ha dato?	3 Joshua then said to the Israelites, 'How much more time are you going to waste before you go andtake possession of the country which Yahweh, God of your ancestors, has given to you?
4 Eleggetevi tre uomini per ciascuna tribù perchè io li mandi a percorrere il paese per descriverlo secondo il numero di ciascuna tribù e mi riferiscano poi ciò che avran descritto.	4 Choose three men from each tribe for me to send al over the country so that they can make a surveywith a view to their inheritances and then come back to me.
5 Voi allora vi dividerete tutto il territorio in sette parti: Giuda resterà nei suoi confini verso mezzogiorno e la casa di Giuseppe a settentrione di essi.	5 They wil divide the country into seven portions. Judah wil remain in his territory in the south, andthose of the House of Joseph wil remain in their territory in the north.
6 Il resto del paese lo dividerete in sette parti e verrete qui da me affinchè dinanzi al Signore Dio vostro ve lo divida secondo la sorte;	6 You must survey the country in seven sections and bring your findings to me here, so that I can castlots for you here, in the presence of Yahweh our God.
7 la tribù di Levi invece non avrà parte fra voi, perchè la loro eredità è il sacerdozio del Signore. Gad poi, Ruben e mezza tribù di Manasse han già ricevuto dalla mano di Mosè, servo del Signore, i loro possedimenti al di là del Giordano verso oriente».	7 The Levites, however, wil have no portion with the rest of you; the priesthood of Yahweh wil be theirheritage. As regards Gad and Reuben and the half-tribe of Manasseh, they have received their heritage on thefurther, eastern side of the Jordan, the one given them by Moses, servant of Yahweh.'
8 Quando gli uomini si levarono per andare a perlustrare il paese, Giosuè diede quest'ordine: «Percorretelo tutto e fatene la descrizione; poi tornate da me, affinchè dinanzi al Signore, in Silo, ve lo divida secondo la sorte».	8 The men stood up and set off. To those who were to survey the country Joshua gave this order, 'Startout, then, go al over the country, survey it, and then come back to me; and I shal cast lots for you here, in thepresence of Yahweh, at Shiloh.'
9 Ed essi se ne andarono, perlustrarono il paese, e lo divisero in sette parti descrivendole in un volume, poi tornarono da Giosuè in Silo, nell'accampamento,	9 The men left, went al over the country and surveyed it by towns, in seven sections, writing down theirfindings in a book, and then went back to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh.
10 ed egli trasse loro le sorti dinanzi al Signore in Silo e divise il territorio ai figli d'Israele in sette parti.	10 Joshua cast lots for them in Yahweh's presence at Shiloh, and there Joshua divided the countrybetween the Israelites, share by share.
11 La prima sorte toccò ai figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie ed essi possedettero il territorio tra i figli di Giuda e quelli di Giuseppe.	11 A portion fell first to the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans: the territory of their portion laybetween the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.
12 Il loro confine verso settentrione partiva dal Giordano, andava a nord di Gerico e salendo verso occidente sui monti raggiungeva il deserto di Betaven,	12 Their northern frontier began at the Jordan, went up the flank of Jericho to the north, climbedwestwards through the highlands and came out at the desert of Beth-Aven.
13 passava accanto a Luza, cioè Betel, dalla parte meridionale; discendeva in Atarot Addar fra i monti che sono a mezzogiorno di Betoron inferiore	13 Thence, the frontier went on to Luz, on the southern flank of Luz -- now Bethel-and then down toAtaroth-Arach, on the mountain south of Lower Beth-Horon.
14 piegando dal lato del mare a mezzogiorno del monte che è di fronte e a mezzogiorno di Betoron e termina in Cariatbaal, che si chiama anche Cariatiarim, città dei figli di Giuda. Questo è il territorio che sta ad occidente verso il mare.	14 At this westerly point, the frontier curved round and turned south, from the mountain facing Beth-Horon from the south and came out at Kiriath-Baal, now Kiriath-Jearim, a town of the sons of Judah. That wasthe western side.
15 Dal lato meridionale il confine cominciava ad occidente dalla parte di Cariatiarim, raggiungeva la fontana delle acque di Neftoa,	15 This was the south side: from the tip of Kiriath-Jearim, the frontier went to Gasin and came out nearthe spring of the Waters of Nephtoah,
16 discendeva lungo il monte che guarda la valle dei figli di Ennom, che si trova a settentrione della valle di Rafaim, discende a Geennom, (cioè nella valle di Ennom), a mezzogiorno dei Jebusei e raggiunge la fontana di Rogel.	16 it then went down to the edge of the mountain facing the Val ey of Hinnom, in the Valley of theRephaim to the north; it then went down into the Val ey of Hinnom, past the southerly flank of the Jebusite, andwent down to En-Rogel.
17 Passa verso nord, esce a Ensemes, cioè alla fonte del sole	17 It then curved northwards, coming out at En-Shemesh, and came out at the stone circle opposite theAscent of Adummim, then went down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.
18 e continua fino ai tumuli che sono nella regione della salita di Adommim. Discende ad Abenboen, cioè alla pietra di Boen figlio di Ruben; passa a nord sino alla campagna, e scende nella pianura	18 It then went on to Cheteph on the flank of Beth-ha-Arabah northwards, and went down into theArabah;
19 e continua sul lato settentrionale di Betagla per terminare alla lingua di terra settentrionale del mare salato verso la foce del Giordano a mezzogiorno;	19 the frontier then passed round the northern flank of Beth-Hoglah, and the frontier came out at thenorthern bay of the Salt Sea, at the southern end of the Jordan. Such was the southern frontier.
20 e questo è il confine verso oriente. Tale fu il possedimento dei figli di Beniamino coi suoi confini da tutti i lati e secondo le loro famiglie.	20 The Jordan itself formed the frontier on the east. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin asdefined by their frontier, by clans.
21 Le città di quel territorio furono: Gerico, Betagla, la Valle di Casis,	21 The towns of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans, were:
22 Betaraba, Samaraim, Betel,	22 Jericho, Beth-Hoglah, Emek-Keziz;
23 Avim, Afara, Ofera,	23 Beth-Arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel; Avvim, Parah, Ophrah;
24 il villaggio di Emona, Ofni e Gabee: dodici città colle loro borgate;	24 Chephar-Ammoni, Ophni, Geba: twelve towns and their vil ages.
25 Gabaon, Rama, Berot,	25 Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth;
26 Mesfe, Cafara, Amosa,	26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah;
27 Recem, Iarefel, Tarela,	27 Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah;
28 Sela, Elef, Iebus, che è Gerusalemme, Gabaat e Cariat: quattordici città con le loro borgate. Tale fu il possedimento dei figli di Beniamino, secondo le loro famiglie.	28 Zela-ha-Eleph, the Jebusite -- that is, Jerusalem -- Gibeah and Kiriath: fourteen towns with theirvil ages. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin, by clans.
