1 - Avvenne allora una gran persecuzione contro la chiesa di Gerusalemme: e tutti, salvo gli apostoli, furon dispersi per le contrade della Giudea e della Samaria.	1 And Saul was consenting to his death. And on that day a great persecution arose against the church in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the region of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 Alcuni uomini pii portarono a seppellire Stefano, e fecero un gran pianto per lui.	2 Devout men buried Stephen, and made great lamentation over him.
3 Ma Saulo devastava la chiesa; entrava per le case, e quanti trovava, uomini e donne, li cacciava in prigione.	3 But Saul was ravaging the church, and entering house after house, he dragged off men and women and committed them to prison.
4 Quelli frattanto, che s'eran dispersi, andavano di luogo in luogo, evangelizzando la parola di Dio.	4 Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word.
5 Così il diacono Filippo, disceso nella città di Samaria, cominciò a predicarvi di Cristo.	5 Philip went down to a city of Samaria, and proclaimed to them the Christ.
6 E tutti correvano desiderosi d'ascoltarlo, osservando i miracoli che faceva.	6 And the multitudes with one accord gave heed to what was said by Philip, when they heard him and saw the signs which he did.
7 Di fatto, spiriti immondi uscivan da molti che n'erano invasi, gridando ad alta voce;	7 For unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, crying with a loud voice; and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.
8 e molti paralitici e molti zoppi furon guariti. Perciò, grande allegrezza era in quella città.	8 So there was much joy in that city.
9 Ma nella medesima città c'era un uomo chiamato Simone, che già da tempo esercitava la magìa, seducendo la gente, spacciandosi per un grand'uomo.	9 But there was a man named Simon who had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the nation of Samaria, saying that he himself was somebody great.
10 Tutti, dal più piccolo al più grande, gli davano retta, dicendo: «Costui è la Potenza di Dio, quella chiamata Grande!».	10 They all gave heed to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is that power of God which is called Great."
11 Gli davan retta, perchè da lungo tempo li aveva fatti uscire di mente con le sue arti magiche.	11 And they gave heed to him, because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic.
12 Ma quand'ebbero creduto a Filippo, che evangelizzava il regno di Dio e il nome di Gesù Cristo, si fecero battezzare, uomini e donne.	12 But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 E Simone stesso credette e, battezzato, non si staccava da Filippo; e, vedendo i miracoli e i grandi prodigi che seguivano, era fuori di sè per lo stupore.	13 Even Simon himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed.
14 Or gli apostoli ch'erano a Gerusalemme, saputo che in Samaria si era accolta la parola di Dio, ci mandaron Pietro e Giovanni.	14 Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John,
15 I quali, poi che furono arrivati, pregarono che tutti ricevessero lo Spirito Santo:	15 who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit;
16 perchè non ancora era disceso in alcun di loro, essendo stati solamente battezzati nel nome del Signore Gesù.	16 for it had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
17 Imposero quindi sopra di loro le mani, e ricevettero lo Spirito Santo.	17 Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Allora Simone, vedendo che lo Spirito Santo era dato con la imposizione delle mani degli apostoli, offerse loro del denaro,	18 Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money,
19 dicendo: «Date anche a me questo potere, che a chiunque imporrò le mani, riceva lo Spirito Santo». Ma Pietro gli disse:	19 saying, "Give me also this power, that any one on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."
20 «Il tuo denaro sia teco in perdizione, poichè hai creduto che il dono di Dio si possa comprare a denaro!	20 But Peter said to him, "Your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!
21 Tu non hai parte nè sorte in tutto questo, perchè il tuo cuore non è retto dinanzi a Dio.	21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.
22 Ravvediti dunque di questa tua malvagità; e prega Dio che, se è possibile, ti sia perdonata la mala intenzione del tuo cuore.	22 Repent therefore of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.
23 Io già ti veggo pieno d'amarissimo fiele e incatenato dalla iniquità».	23 For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity."
24 E Simone rispose: «Pregate voi per me il Signore, affinchè nulla m'accada di quel che avete detto».	24 And Simon answered, "Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me."
25 Quelli allora, resa la loro testimonianza e annunziata la parola del Signore, tornarono a Gerusalemme, evangelizzando molti paesi de' Samaritani.	25 Now when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans.
26 Ma un angelo del Signore parlò a Filippo, e gli disse: «Lèvati, e va' in direzione di mezzogiorno, sulla strada che scende da Gerusalemme a Gaza; è deserta».	26 But an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is a desert road.
27 E' si levò e partì. Ed ecco un uomo Etiope, eunuco, ministro di Candace, regina degli Etiopi e sovrintendente di tutti i tesori di lei, il quale era stato a Gerusalemme per adorare;	27 And he rose and went. And behold, an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a minister of the Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, in charge of all her treasure, had come to Jerusalem to worship
28 e ora se ne tornava, seduto sul suo carro e leggendo il profeta Isaia.	28 and was returning; seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah.
29 E lo Spirito disse a Filippo: «Affrettati, e raggiungi quel carro!».	29 And the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot."
30 Filippo accorse, e udendo che leggeva il profeta Isaia, disse: «Capisci tu quel che leggi?».	30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?"
31 Quello gli rispose: «Come posso capirlo se nessuno me lo spiega?». E pregò Filippo che salisse su e si mettesse a sedere vicino a lui.	31 And he said, "How can I, unless some one guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 Il passo della Scrittura che leggeva, era questo: «Lo han menato al macello come una pecora; e come un agnello muto dinanzi a colui che lo tosa, così egli non ha aperto la bocca.	32 Now the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this: "As a sheep led to the slaughter or a lamb before its shearer is dumb, so he opens not his mouth.
33 Nel suo abbassamento, gli fu negata giustizia. E chi descriverà la sua generazione, dopo che la sua vita è stata tolta dalla terra?».	33 In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken up from the earth."
34 L'eunuco disse a Filippo: «Ti prego; di chi parla qui il profeta?, di sè o di qualche altro?».	34 And the eunuch said to Philip, "About whom, pray, does the prophet say this, about himself or about some one else?"
35 Allora Filippo cominciò a parlare, e cominciando da quella Scrittura, gli annunziò la buona novella di Gesù.	35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this scripture he told him the good news of Jesus.
36 E cammin facendo, arrivarono a una cert'acqua; e l'eunuco disse: «Ecco l'acqua; che m'impedisce ch'io sia battezzato?».	36 And as they went along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "See, here is water! What is to prevent my being baptized?"
37 E Filippo rispose: «Se credi di tutto cuore, si può». Ed egli attestò: «Credo che Gesù Cristo è il Figlio di Dio».	37 .
38 Allora fece fermare il carro; discesero tutti e due nell'acqua, Filippo e l'eunuco, e quello lo battezzò.	38 And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.
39 Usciti dall'acqua, lo spirito del Signore rapì Filippo, e l'eunuco non lo vide più; ma felice continuò il suo cammino.	39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught up Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing.
40 Quanto a Filippo, si trovò in Azoto; e di là, evangelizzando tutte le città per le quali passava, arrivò a Cesarea.	40 But Philip was found at Azotus, and passing on he preached the gospel to all the towns till he came to Caesarea.
