| 1 - Dipoi disse Dio a Mosé: «Tagliati due tavole di pietra simili e quelle di prima; vi scriverò sopra le parole che erano sulle tavole da te spezzate. | 1 The LORD said to Moses, "Cut two tables of stone like the first; and I will write upon the tables the words that were on the first tables, which you broke. |
| 2 Sii pronto domattina per salire subito il monte Sinai, e starai con me sulla vetta. | 2 Be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain. |
| 3 Nessuno salga con te nè alcuno si faccia vedere in tutta la montagna; nemmeno i bovi e le pecore vadano a pascer di contro». | 3 No man shall come up with you, and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain; let no flocks or herds feed before that mountain." |
| 4 Tagliò dunque Mosè due tavole di pietra, come erano prima, e di buon mattino levatosi, salì il monte Sinai, come gli aveva comandato il Signore, portando seco le tavole. | 4 So Moses cut two tables of stone like the first; and he rose early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand two tables of stone. |
| 5 Quando fu sceso il Signore nella nube, Mosè stette con lui invocando il nome del Signore. | 5 And the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. |
| 6 E quando questi passò davanti a lui disse: «Padrone e Signore Dio, misericordioso e clemente, paziente, di molta compassione, e verace, | 6 The LORD passed before him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, |
| 7 che usi misericordia per migliaia [di generazioni], che cancelli l'iniquità, i delitti ed i peccati, e nessuno è per propria virtù senza colpa dinanzi a te, che ripaghi l'iniquità dei padri nei figli e nipoti sino alla terza e quarta generazione!». | 7 keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation." |
| 8 Subito Mosè si curvò sino a terra, adorò, | 8 And Moses made haste to bow his head toward the earth, and worshipped. |
| 9 e disse: «Se ho trovato grazia nel tuo cospetto, Signore, ti supplico che tu venga con noi (questo popolo infatti è di dura cervice), che tu cancelli le nostre iniquità e peccati, e tu ci tenga per tuoi». | 9 And he said, "If now I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, let the Lord, I pray thee, go in the midst of us, although it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thy inheritance." |
| 10 Rispose il Signore: «Io rinnoverò l'alleanza. Sotto gli occhi di tutti farò prodigi che non si son mai visti sulla terra, nè fra alcun popolo, affinchè questo popolo in mezzo al quale tu stai, vegga la terribile opera del Signore ch'io sono per fare. | 10 And he said, "Behold, I make a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been wrought in all the earth or in any nation; and all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the LORD; for it is a terrible thing that I will do with you. |
| 11 Osserva tutte le cose che oggi ti comando. Io stesso scaccerò d' innanzi a l'Amorreo, il Cananeo, l'Heteo, il Ferezeo, l'Heveo, e il Jebuseo. | 11 "Observe what I command you this day. Behold, I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. |
| 12 Guarda di non far mai amicizia con gli abitanti di quelle terre, il che ti condurrebbe in rovina; | 12 Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither you go, lest it become a snare in the midst of you. |
| 13 ma distruggi le loro are, spezza le statue, atterra i boschi. | 13 You shall tear down their altars, and break their pillars, and cut down their Asherim |
| 14 Non adorare un dio straniero; Il Signore ha nome "Il Geloso", è un Dio geloso. | 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), |
| 15 Non fare alleanza con gli uomini di quelle regioni; che, dopo avere essi fornicato coi loro dèi e adorato i loro simulacri, non abbia qualcuno a invitarti a mangiar delle cose immolate agl'idoli. | 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and when they play the harlot after their gods and sacrifice to their gods and one invites you, you eat of his sacrifice, |
| 16 Né pei figli tuoi cercherai moglie fra le loro figliuole, affinchè, dopo aver fornicato esse non facciano anche fornicare i tuoi figli coi loro dèi. | 16 and you take of their daughters for your sons, and their daughters play the harlot after their gods and make your sons play the harlot after their gods. |
| 17 Non ti farai dèi di getto. | 17 "You shall make for yourself no molten gods. |
| 18 Osserverai la solennità degli azzimi. Per sette giorni, al mese delle nuove mèssi mangerai azzimo, come t'ho comandato; nel primo mese infatti della primavera, uscisti dall'Egitto. | 18 The feast of unleavened bread you shall keep. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib; for in the month Abib you came out from Egypt. |
| 19 Ogni tuo maschio primo nato sarà mio; sarà mio anche quello di tutti gli animali, tanto dei bovi quanto delle pecore. | 19 All that opens the womb is mine, all your male cattle, the firstlings of cow and sheep. |
| 20 Riscatterai con una pecora il primogenito dell'asino; se no, e se non darai in cambio il suo prezzo, sarà ucciso. Ricomprerai il primogenito dè tuoi figli; e non comparirai alla mia presenza a mani vuote. | 20 The firstling of an ass you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. All the first-born of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before me empty. |
| 21 Per sei giorni lavorerai; nel settimo t'asterrai dall'arare e dal mietere. | 21 "Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest. |
| 22 Celebrerai la solennità delle settimane al principio della mietitura del tuo grano, e un'altra solennità quando al termine dell'anno tutte le raccolte si metton da parte. | 22 And you shall observe the feast of weeks, the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end. |
| 23 Tre volte all'anno ogni tuo maschio comparirà alla presenza dell'onnipotente Signore Dio di Israele. | 23 Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the LORD God, the God of Israel. |
| 24 Quando infatti avrò scacciato dinanzi a te le genti, e avrò allargato i tuoi confini, nessuno insidierà alla tua terra mentre tu sarai in viaggio, e ti presenterai tre volte all'anno alla presenza del Signore Dio tuo. | 24 For I will cast out nations before you, and enlarge your borders; neither shall any man desire your land, when you go up to appear before the LORD your God three times in the year. |
| 25 Non m'offrirai con pane lievitato il sangue della mia vittima; né rimarrà sino all' indomani qualcosa della vittima della solennità di Pasqua. | 25 "You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left until the morning. |
| 26 Offrirai, nella casa del Signore Dio tuo le primizie dei frutti della tua terra. Non cocerai un capretto nel latte della madre sua». | 26 The first of the first fruits of your ground you shall bring to the house of the LORD your God. You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk." |
| 27 Disse poi il Signore a Mosè: «Scriviti queste parole con le quali ho contratto Alleanza con te o con Israele». | 27 And the LORD said to Moses, "Write these words; in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel." |
| 28 Stette pertanto lì col Signore quaranta giorni e quaranta notti; non mangiò pane nè bevve acqua, e scrisse sulle tavole le dieci proposizioni dell'alleanza. | 28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. |
| 29 Quando poi Mosè scese dal monte Sinai, portava le due tavole della testimonianza, e non sapeva che dalla sua fronte uscivano due raggi in conseguenza del suo colloquio col Signore. | 29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tables of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God. |
| 30 Or quando Aronne ed i figli d'Israele videro la faccia di Mosè risplendente, temerono d'avvicinarglisi. | 30 And when Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. |
| 31 Ma chiamati da lui vennero, tanto Aronne quanto i capi della sinagoga. Dopo ch'ebbe parlato con loro, | 31 But Moses called to them; and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses talked with them. |
| 32 vennero a lui anche tutti i figli di Israele, ai quali comandò tutto quello che aveva udito dal Signore sul monte Sinai. | 32 And afterward all the people of Israel came near, and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in Mount Sinai. |
| 33 Terminati poi i discorsi, si pose un velo sulla fronte. | 33 And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face; |
| 34 Quando entrava al Signore e parlava con lui, se lo cavava sino a che usciva; allora ripeteva ai figli d'Israele tutto quello che gli era stato comandato, | 34 but whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the veil off, until he came out; and when he came out, and told the people of Israel what he was commanded, |
| 35 ed essi vedevano risplender la faccia di Mosè quando usciva; ma egli subito se la ricopriva quando doveva parlare con loro. | 35 the people of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone; and Moses would put the veil upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him. |
