| 1 - Mosè dunque pasceva le pecore del suo suocero Ietro sacerdote di Madian, ed avendo guidato il gregge entro il deserto, giunse al monte Horeb, monte di Dio. | 1 Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian; and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. |
| 2 Ivi gli apparve il Signore, in una fiamma di fuoco, di mezzo a un roveto; ed egli vedeva ardere il roveto, ma senza bruciare. | 2 And the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and lo, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. |
| 3 Disse dunque Mosè: «M'avvicinerò, e vedrò questa gran cosa, come mai il roveto non brucia». | 3 And Moses said, "I will turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt." |
| 4 Vedendo allora il Signore che egli s'avanzava per vedere, lo chiamò di mezzo al roveto, dicendo: «Mosè, Mosè!». Rispose: «Eccomi!». | 4 When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here am I." |
| 5 Ma disse il Signore: «Non t'avvicinare sin qui: levati i calzari dai piedi, perchè il luogo ove ti trovi è terra santa». | 5 Then he said, "Do not come near; put off your shoes from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground." |
| 6 Ed aggiunse: «Io sono il Dio de' padri tuoi, il Dio d'Abramo, il Dio d'Isacco, il Dio di Giacobbe». Mosè si coprì la faccia, perchè non osava levar gli occhi dinanzi a Dio. | 6 And he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. |
| 7 Il Signore gli disse: «Ho veduto l'afflizione del popolo mio in Egitto; ho udito il suo grido, per la durezza dei soprastanti lavori; | 7 Then the LORD said, "I have seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters; I know their sufferings, |
| 8 e conoscendo il suo dolore, son venuto per liberarlo dalle mani degli Egiziani, e condurlo da quella terra in un'altra buona e spaziosa, in una terra ove scorrono il latte ed il miele, nelle regioni del Cananeo, dell' Heteo, dell'Amorreo, del Ferezeo, dell'Heveo e dell'Iebuseo. | 8 and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. |
| 9 Il grido dunque dei figli d'Israele è salito fino a me, ed ho veduto la loro afflizione, oppressi come sono dagli Egiziani. | 9 And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. |
| 10 Ma vieni, e ti manderò al Faraone, perchè tu cavi il popolo mio, i figli d'Israele, dall' Egitto». | 10 Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring forth my people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt." |
| 11 Disse allora Mosè: «Chi son io, per andare al Faraone, e cavar dall'Egitto i figli d'Israele?». | 11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?" |
| 12 E Dio a lui: «Io sarò teco, e tu avrai questo segno della mia missione: quando avrai condotto via dall'Egitto il mio popolo, farai a Dio un sacrifizio su questo medesimo monte». | 12 He said, "But I will be with you; and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought forth the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God upon this mountain." |
| 13 Disse Mosè al Signore: «Ecco, io andrò ai figli d'Israele, e dirò loro: - Il Dio de' padri vostri m'ha mandato a voi. - Se mi domanderanno: - Qual è il suo nome? - che dirò loro?». | 13 Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" |
| 14 Disse Dio a Mosè: «Io sono Colui che è». Ed aggiunse: «Ai figli d'Israele dirai così: - Colui che è, m'ha mandato a voi». | 14 God said to Moses, "I AM WHO AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" |
| 15 Disse poi ancora Dio a Mosè: «Queste cose dirai ai figli d'Israele: - Il Signore Dio de' padri vostri, il Dio d'Abramo, il Dio d'Isacco, il Dio di Giacobbe m' ha mandato a voi. Questo è il mio nome in eterno, e con questo sarò ricordato di generazione in generazione. - | 15 God also said to Moses, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you: this is my name for ever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations. |
| 16 Va', raduna i seniori d'Israele, e di' loro: - Mi è apparso il Signore Dio de' padri vostri, il Dio d'Abramo, il Dio d'Isacco, il Dio di Giacobbe, dicendomi: " Sì, io vi ho visitati; ho veduto tutto quello che v'è stato fatto in Egitto: | 16 Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, "I have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt; |
| 17 ed ho stabilito di cavarvi dall'afflizione dell'Egitto, per condurvi nella terra del Cananeo, dell'Heteo, dell'Amorreo, del Ferezeo, dell' Heveo, e dell'Iebuseo: terra dove scorrono il latte ed il miele ". | 17 and I promise that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt, to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey."' |
| 18 Ed ascolteranno la tua voce. Poi, tu ed i seniori di Israele vi presenterete al re dell'Egitto, e tu gli dirai: - Il Signore Dio degli Ebrei ci ha chiamati; ci addentreremo per tre giorni di cammino nel deserto, per sacrificarvi al Signore Dio nostro. - | 18 And they will hearken to your voice; and you and the elders of Israel shall go to the king of Egypt and say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us; and now, we pray you, let us go a three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.' |
| 19 Ma io so che il re dell' Egitto non vi lascerà andare, se non costretto a forza. | 19 I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless compelled by a mighty hand. |
| 20 Perciò, stenderò la mia mano, e percoterò l'Egitto con tutti i prodigi che sarò per fare in mezzo a loro; dopo questi, vi lascerà andare. | 20 So I will stretch out my hand and smite Egypt with all the wonders which I will do in it; after that he will let you go. |
| 21 Farò che il vostro popolo trovi favore presso gli Egiziani, e, quando ne uscirete, non partirete a mani vuote; | 21 And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and when you go, you shall not go empty, |
| 22 ogni donna chiederà alla sua vicina ed alla sua ospite vasi d'argento e d'oro, e vesti; le porrete addosso ai vostri figliuoli e figliuole, ed avrete le spoglie dell'Egitto». | 22 but each woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her who sojourns in her house, jewelry of silver and of gold, and clothing, and you shall put them on your sons and on your daughters; thus you shall despoil the Egyptians." |
