Esodo 24

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Disse poi Dio a Mosè: «Salite verso il Signore, tu, Aronne, Nadab, Abiu, e settanta seniori di Israele, e adorerete da lontano.	1 He then said to Moses, 'Come up to Yahweh, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of theelders of Israel and bow down at a distance.
2 Mosè solo salirà sino al Signore; gli altri non si avvicineranno, ed il popolo non salirà con lui».	2 Moses alone will approach Yahweh; the others wil not approach, nor wil the people come up withhim.'
3 Venne dunque Mosè, e riferì al popolo le parole di tutte le leggi del Signore. E tutto il popolo ad una voce rispose: «Tutte quelle cose che il Signore ha detto, le faremo».	3 Moses went and told the people al Yahweh's words and al the laws, and al the people answered withone voice, 'All the words Yahweh has spoken we wil carry out!'
4 Poi, Mosè scrisse tutt'i discorsi del Signore; ed al mattino, levatosi, costruì un altare alle radici del monte, e dodici pilastri di pietra per le dodici tribù d'Israele.	4 Moses put al Yahweh's words into writing, and early next morning he built an altar at the foot of themountain, with twelve standing-stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 Mandò dei giovani, scelti tra' figli d'Israele, ad offrire olocausti, ed immolare dei vitelli come vittime pacifiche al Signore.	5 Then he sent certain young Israelites to offer burnt offerings and sacrifice bul ocks to Yahweh ascommunion sacrifices.
6 Prese poi Mosè metà di quel sangue, e lo mise in bacini; la rimanente metà la versò sull'altare.	6 Moses then took half the blood and put it into basins, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.
7 Preso poi il volume dell'alleanza, lo lesse al popolo, che l'ascoltò e disse: «Tutto quello che il Signore ha detto, l'eseguiremo, e gli saremo obbedienti».	7 Then, taking the Book of the Covenant, he read it to the listening people, who then said, 'We shall do everything that Yahweh has said; we shall obey.'
8 Allora Mosè, prese il sangue, ne asperse il popolo, e disse: «Quello è il sangue dell'alleanza che il Signore ha conchiuso con voi, in base a tutte queste parole».	8 Moses then took the blood and sprinkled it over the people, saying, 'This is the blood of the covenantwhich Yahweh has made with you, entailing all these stipulations.'
9 Mosè ed Aronne, Nadab ed Abiu, ed i settanta dei seniori d'Israele, salirono;	9 Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and seventy elders of Israel then went up,
10 videro [da lungi] il Dio d' Israele, e sotto ai suoi piedi come un lavoro di pietra di zaffiro, come il cielo quand'è sereno.	10 and they saw the God of Israel beneath whose feet there was what looked like a sapphire pavementpure as the heavens themselves,
11 Nè Dio stese la sua mano su questi che s'erano così allontanati dagli altri figli d'Israele; videro Dio, e poi mangiarono e bevvero.	11 but he did no harm to the Israelite notables; they actually gazed on God and then ate and drank.
12 Disse poi il Signore a Mosè: «Sali a me sul monte, ed ivi fermati. Ti darò delle tavole di pietra, le leggi ed i comandamenti che ho scritti, acciò tu li insegni a loro».	12 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the stonetablets -- the law and the commandment -- which I have written for their instruction.'
13 Si mosse dunque Mosè con Giosuè suo ministro; e stando per salire il monte di Dio,	13 Moses made ready, with Joshua his assistant, and they went up the mountain of God.
14 disse ai seniori: «Aspettate qui, sinchè ritorniamo a voi. Avete con voi Aronne ed Hur; se nascerà qualche questione, riferitela a loro».	14 He said to the elders, 'Wait here for us until we come back to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you;if anyone has any matter to settle, let him go to them.'
15 Quando poi Mosè fu salito, la nube ricoprì il monte,	15 Moses then went up the mountain. Cloud covered the mountain.
16 e la gloria del Signore abitò sul Sinai, ricoprendolo d'una nube per sei giorni. Al settimo giorno poi, Iddio chiamò Mosè di mezzo alla nube.	16 The glory of Yahweh rested on Mount Sinai and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh dayYahweh cal ed to Moses from inside the cloud.
17 L'aspetto della gloria del Signore era come d'un fuoco ardente sulla cima del monte, a vista de' figli di Israele.	17 To the watching Israelites, the glory of Yahweh looked like a devouring fire on the mountain top.
18 Penetrato Mosè in mezzo alla nube, salì alla vetta del monte, ed ivi stette quaranta giorni e quaranta notti.	18 Moses went right into the cloud and went on up the mountain. Moses stayed on the mountain for fortydays and forty nights.
