BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Apri, Libano, le tue porte, e il fuoco divori i tuoi cedri.	1 Open your gateways, Lebanon, and the fire shal burn down your cedar trees!
2 Urla, cipresso, perché il cedro è caduto, gli splendidi alberi sono distrutti. Urlate, querce di Basan, perché la foresta impenetrabile è abbattuta!	2 Wail, juniper, for the cedar tree has fal en, the majestic ones have been ravaged! Wail, oaks ofBashan, for the impenetrable forest has been fel ed!
3 Si ode il lamento dei pastori, perché la loro gloria è distrutta! Si ode il ruggito dei leoncelli, perché è devastata la magnificenza del Giordano!	3 The sound of the wailing of shepherds! Their majesty has been ravaged. The sound of the roaring ofyoung lions! The pride of the Jordan has been ravaged.
4 Così parla il Signore, mio Dio: «Pascola quelle pecore da macello	4 Yahweh my God says this, 'Pasture the sheep for slaughter,
5 che i compratori sgozzano impunemente e di cui i venditori dicono: “Sia benedetto il Signore, mi sono arricchito”, e i loro pastori non ne hanno pietà.	5 whose buyers kil them and go unpunished, whose sel ers say of them, "Blessed be Yahweh; now I amrich!" and whose own shepherds show them no pity.
6 Neppure io perdonerò agli abitanti del paese. Oracolo del Signore. Ecco, io abbandonerò gli uomini ognuno in balìa del suo vicino e del suo re, perché devastino il paese, e non mi curerò di liberarli dalle loro mani».	6 For I shal show no further pity for the inhabitants of the country -- Yahweh declares! Instead, I shalput everyone into the clutches of a neighbour, into the clutches of the king. They wil crush the country and I shalnot rescue anyone from their clutches.'
7 Io dunque mi misi a pascolare le pecore da macello per conto dei mercanti di pecore. Presi due bastoni: uno lo chiamai Benevolenza e l’altro Unione, e condussi al pascolo le pecore.	7 Then I pastured for slaughter the sheep belonging to the sheep-dealers. I took two staves: the one Ical ed 'Goodwill', the other 'Couplers'; and I pastured the sheep myself,
8 Nel volgere di un solo mese eliminai tre pastori. Ma io mi irritai contro di esse, perché anch’esse mi detestavano.	8 getting rid of three shepherds in one month. But I lost patience with them, and they equal y detestedme.
9 Perciò io dissi: «Non sarò più il vostro pastore. Chi vuole morire muoia, chi vuole perire perisca, quelle che rimangono si divorino pure fra loro!».	9 I then said, 'I am not going to pasture you any more; the one doomed to die can die; the one doomedto perish can perish; and the rest can devour one another.'
10 Presi il bastone chiamato Benevolenza e lo spezzai: ruppi così l’alleanza da me stabilita con tutti i popoli.	10 I then took my staff, 'Goodwil ', and broke it in half, to break my covenant, which I had made with althe peoples.
11 Lo ruppi in quel medesimo giorno; i mercanti di pecore che mi osservavano, riconobbero che quello era l’ordine del Signore.	11 When it was broken, that day the sheep-dealers, who were watching me, realised that this had beena word of Yahweh.
12 Poi dissi loro: «Se vi pare giusto, datemi la mia paga; se no, lasciate stare». Essi allora pesarono trenta sicli d’argento come mia paga.	12 I then said to them, 'If you see fit, give me my wages; if not, never mind.' So they weighed out mywages: thirty shekels of silver.
13 Ma il Signore mi disse: «Porta al fonditore questa grandiosa somma, con cui sono stato da loro valutato!». Io presi i trenta sicli d’argento e li portai al fonditore della casa del Signore.	13 Yahweh said to me, 'Throw it to the smelter, this princely sum at which they have valued me!' Takingthe thirty shekels of silver, I threw them into the Temple of Yahweh, for the smelter.
14 Poi feci a pezzi il secondo bastone chiamato Unione, per rompere così la fratellanza fra Giuda e Israele.	14 I then broke my second staff, 'Couplers,' in half, to rupture the brotherly relationship between Judahand Israel.
15 Quindi il Signore mi disse: «Prendi ancora gli attrezzi di un pastore insensato,	15 Next, Yahweh said to me, 'This time, take the gear of a good-for-nothing shepherd.
16 poiché ecco, io susciterò nel paese un pastore che non avrà cura di quelle che si perdono, non cercherà le giovani, non curerà le malate, non nutrirà quelle ancora sane; mangerà invece le carni delle più grasse e strapperà loro persino le unghie.	16 For I am now going to raise a shepherd in this country, who wil not bother about the lost, who will notgo in search of the stray, who wil not heal the injured, who wil not support the swollen, but who wil eat the meatof the fat ones, tearing off their very hoofs.
17 Guai al pastore stolto che abbandona il gregge! Una spada colpisca il suo braccio e il suo occhio destro. Tutto il suo braccio si inaridisca e tutto il suo occhio destro resti accecato».	17 Disaster to the shepherd who deserts his flock! May the sword attack his arm and his right eye! Mayhis arm shrivel completely and his right eye be total y blinded!'
