1 Figli di Ruben, primogenito d’Israele. Egli era il primogenito, ma, poiché aveva profanato il letto del padre, la primogenitura fu assegnata ai figli di Giuseppe, figlio d’Israele. Ma questa primogenitura non fu registrata.	1 Now the sons of Ruben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was his firstborn: but forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his first birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel, and he was not accounted for the firstborn.
2 Giuda infatti prevalse sui fratelli e un suo discendente divenne capo; tuttavia la primogenitura appartiene a Giuseppe.	2 But of the race of Juda, who was the strongest among his brethren, came the princes: but the first birthright was accounted to Joseph.)

For they possessed a great number of cattle in the land of Galaad.
10 Al tempo di Saul mossero guerra agli Agareni; caduti questi nelle loro mani, essi si stabilirono nelle loro tende su tutta la parte orientale di Gàlaad.	10 And in the days of Saul they fought against the Agarites, and slew them, and dwelt in their tents in their stead, in all the country, that looketh to the east of Galaad.
11 I figli di Gad, di fronte a loro, dimoravano nella regione di Basan fino a Salca.	11 And the children of Gad dwelt over against them in the land of Basan, as far as Selcha:
12 Gioele, il primo, Safam, secondo, quindi Ianài e Safat in Basan.	12 Johel the chief, and Saphan the second: and Janai, and Saphat in Basan.

14 Costoro erano figli di Abicàil, figlio di Curì, figlio di Iaròach, figlio di Gàlaad, figlio di Michele, figlio di Iesisài, figlio di Iacdo, figlio di Buz.	14 These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Hurl, the son of Jara, the son of Galaad, the son of Michael, the son of Jesisi, the son of Jeddo, the son of But.
15 Achì, figlio di Abdièl, figlio di Gunì, era il capo del loro casato.	15 And their brethren the sons of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house in their families,
16 Dimoravano in Gàlaad e in Basan e nelle loro dipendenze e in tutti i pascoli di Saron fino ai loro estremi confini.	16 And they dwelt in Galaad, and in Basan and in the towns thereof, and in all the suburbs of Saron, unto the borders.
17 Tutti costoro furono registrati negli elenchi genealogici di Iotam, re di Giuda, e al tempo di Geroboamo, re d’Israele.	17 All these were numbered in the days of Joathan king of Juda, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
18 I figli di Ruben, i Gaditi e metà della tribù di Manasse, gente valorosa, armata di scudo e di spada, tiratori di arco ed esperti della guerra, potevano uscire in campo in numero di quarantaquattromilasettecentosessanta.	18 The sons of Ruben, and of Gad, and of the half tribe of Manasses, fighting men, bearing shields, and swords, and bending the bow, and trained up to battles, four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore that went out to war.
19 Essi attaccarono gli Agareni, Ietur, Nafis e Nodab.	19 They fought against the Agarites: but the Itureans, and Naphis, and Nodab,
20 Erano stati soccorsi contro costoro, perché durante l’assalto si erano rivolti a Dio, che li aiutò per la loro fiducia in lui e così gli Agareni e tutti i loro alleati furono consegnati nelle loro mani.	20 Gave them help. And the Agarites were delivered into their hands, and all that were with them, because they called upon God in the battle: and he heard them, because they had put their faith in him.
21 Essi razziarono il bestiame degli Agareni: cinquantamila cammelli, duecentocinquantamila pecore, duemila asini e centomila persone,	21 And they took all that they possessed, of camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men a hundred thousand souls.
22 poiché numerosi furono i feriti a morte, dato che la guerra era voluta da Dio. I vincitori si stabilirono nei territori dei vinti fino alla deportazione.	22 And many fell down slain : for it was the battle of the Lord. And they dwelt in their stead till the captivity.
23 I figli di metà della tribù di Manasse abitavano nella regione che si estende da Basan a Baal-Ermon, a Senir e al monte Ermon; essi erano numerosi.	23 And the children of the half tribe of Manasses possessed the land, from the borders of Basan unto Baal, Hermon, and Sanir, and mount Hermon, for their number was great.
24 Questi sono i capi dei loro casati: Efer, Isì, Elièl, Azrièl, Geremia, Odavia e Iacdièl, uomini valorosi e famosi, capi dei loro casati.	24 And these were the heads of the house of their kindred, Epher, and Jesi, and Eliel, and Esriel, and Jeremia, and Odoia, and Jediel, most valiant and powerful men, and famous chiefs in their families.
25 Ma furono infedeli al Dio dei loro padri, prostituendosi agli dèi delle popolazioni della terra, che Dio aveva distrutte davanti a loro.	25 But they forsook the God of their fathers, and went astray after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
26 Il Dio d’Israele eccitò lo spirito di Pul, re d’Assiria, cioè lo spirito di Tiglat-Pilèser, re d’Assiria, che deportò i Rubeniti, i Gaditi e metà della tribù di Manasse; li condusse a Chelach e presso il Cabor, ad Ara e al fiume di Gozan, ove rimangono ancora oggi.	26 And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Phul king of the Assyrians, and the spirit of Thelgathphalnasar king of Assur: and he carried away Ruben, and Gad, and the half tribe of Manasses, and brought them to Lahela, and to Habor, and to Ara, and to the river of Gozan, unto this day.
27 Figli di Levi: Gherson, Keat e Merarì.
28 Figli di Keat: Amram, Isar, Ebron e Uzzièl.
29 Figli di Amram: Aronne, Mosè e Maria. Figli di Aronne: Nadab, Abiu, Eleàzaro e Itamàr.
30 Eleàzaro generò Fineès; Fineès generò Abisùa;
31 Abisùa generò Bukkì; Bukkì generò Uzzì;
32 Uzzì generò Zerachia; Zerachia generò Meraiòt;
33 Meraiòt generò Amaria; Amaria generò Achitùb;
34 Achitùb generò Sadoc; Sadoc generò Achimàas;
35 Achimàas generò Azaria; Azaria generò Giovanni;
36 Giovanni generò Azaria, che fu sacerdote nel tempio costruito da Salomone a Gerusalemme.
37 Azaria generò Amaria; Amaria generò Achitùb;
38 Achitùb generò Sadoc; Sadoc generò Sallum;
39 Sallum generò Chelkia; Chelkia generò Azaria;
40 Azaria generò Seraià; Seraià generò Iosadàk.
41 Iosadàk partì quando il Signore, per mezzo di Nabucodònosor, fece deportare Giuda e Gerusalemme.
