1 Davide convocò tutti i comandanti d’Israele, i capi delle tribù e i comandanti delle varie classi al servizio del re, i comandanti di migliaia, i comandanti di centinaia, i sovrintendenti a tutti i beni e a tutto il bestiame del re e dei suoi figli, insieme con i cortigiani, i prodi e ogni soldato valoroso in Israele.	1 And so David called together all the leaders of Israel, the rulers of the tribes, and those in charge of the companies, who were ministering to the king, and also the tribunes and centurions, and those in charge of the substance and possessions of the king, and his sons, with the eunuchs and the powerful and those most experienced in the army, at Jerusalem.
2 Davide si alzò in piedi e disse: «Ascoltatemi, fratelli miei e popolo mio! Io avevo deciso di costruire una dimora stabile per l’arca dell’alleanza del Signore, per lo sgabello dei piedi del nostro Dio. Avevo fatto i preparativi per la costruzione,	2 And when the king had risen up and was standing, he said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I thought that I would build a house, in which the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the footstool of our God, might rest. And so I prepared everything for its building.
3 ma Dio mi disse: “Non costruirai una casa al mio nome, perché tu sei stato un guerriero e hai versato sangue”.	3 But God said to me: ‘You shall not build a house to my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.’
4 Il Signore, Dio d’Israele, scelse me fra tutta la famiglia di mio padre, perché divenissi per sempre re su Israele; difatti egli si è scelto Giuda come capo, e fra la discendenza di Giuda ha scelto il casato di mio padre, e tra i figli di mio padre ha trovato compiacenza in me, per costituirmi re su tutto Israele.	4 Now the Lord God of Israel chose me, out of the entire house of my father, so that I would be king over Israel forever. For from Judah he chose leaders; then from the house of Judah he chose the house of my father; and from the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me as king over all of Israel.
5 Fra tutti i miei figli, poiché il Signore mi ha dato molti figli, ha scelto mio figlio Salomone per farlo sedere sul trono del regno del Signore su Israele.	5 Then too, among my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he chose Solomon my son, so that he would sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord, over Israel.
6 Egli infatti mi ha detto: “Salomone, tuo figlio, costruirà la mia casa e i miei cortili, perché io mi sono scelto lui come figlio e io gli sarò padre.	6 And he said to me: ‘Solomon your son shall build my house and my courts. For I have chosen him to be to me as a son, and I will be to him as a father.
7 Renderò saldo il suo regno per sempre, se egli persevererà nel compiere i miei comandi e le mie norme, come fa oggi”.	7 And I will make firm his kingdom, even unto eternity, if he will persevere in doing my precepts and judgments, as also today.’
8 Ora, sotto gli occhi d’Israele, assemblea del Signore, e davanti al nostro Dio che ascolta, vi scongiuro: custodite e ricercate tutti i comandi del Signore, vostro Dio, perché possediate questa buona terra e la passiate in eredità ai vostri figli dopo di voi, per sempre.	8 Now therefore, before the entire assembly of Israel, in the hearing of our God, keep and seek all the commandments of the Lord our God, so that you may possess the good land, and may bequeath it to your sons after you, even forever.
9 Tu, Salomone, figlio mio, riconosci il Dio di tuo padre, servilo con cuore perfetto e con animo volenteroso, perché il Signore scruta tutti i cuori e conosce ogni intimo intento: se lo cercherai, ti si farà trovare; se invece l’abbandonerai, egli ti rigetterà per sempre.	9 And as for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts, and understands the thoughts of all minds. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will cast you aside for eternity.
10 Vedi: ora il Signore ti ha scelto perché tu gli costruisca una casa come santuario; sii forte e mettiti al lavoro».	10 Now therefore, since the Lord has chosen you, so that you would build the house of the Sanctuary, be strengthened and accomplish it.”
11 Davide diede a Salomone, suo figlio, il modello del vestibolo e degli edifici, delle stanze per i tesori, dei piani superiori e delle camere interne e del luogo per il propiziatorio,	11 Then David gave to his son Solomon a description of the portico, and the temple, and the storerooms, and the upper floor, and the innermost rooms, and the house of propitiation,
12 inoltre il modello di quanto aveva in animo riguardo ai cortili del tempio del Signore, a tutte le stanze laterali, ai tesori del tempio di Dio e ai tesori delle cose consacrate,	12 and indeed also of all the courts that he had planned, and the outer rooms on all sides, for the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and for the treasuries of the holy things,
13 alle classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti e a tutta l’attività per il servizio del tempio del Signore e a tutti gli arredi usati nel tempio del Signore.	13 and for the divisions of the priests and the Levites: concerning all the works of the house of the Lord and all the items in the ministry of the temple of the Lord.
14 Quanto a tutti gli oggetti d’oro, gli consegnò l’oro, indicando il peso dell’oro di ciascun oggetto destinato al culto e il peso dell’argento di ciascun oggetto di culto;	14 There was gold by weight for every vessel of the ministry, and also silver by weight for the diversity of vessels and equipment.
15 inoltre l’oro dei candelabri e delle loro lampade, indicando il peso dei singoli candelabri e delle loro lampade, e l’argento destinato ai candelabri, indicando il peso dei candelabri e delle loro lampade, secondo l’uso di ogni candelabro;	15 Then too, he distributed gold for the lampstands and their lamps, according to the measure of each of the lampstands with their lamps. Similarly also, he distributed silver by weight for the silver lampstands with their lamps, according to the diversity of their measure.
16 inoltre il quantitativo dell’oro per le tavole dell’offerta, per ogni tavola, e dell’argento per le tavole d’argento,	16 Also, he gave gold for the tables of the presence, according to the diversity of the tables; similarly too, he gave silver for the other tables of silver.
17 dell’oro puro per le forcelle, i vasi per l’aspersione e le brocche; il quantitativo dell’oro per le coppe, per ogni coppa d’oro, e quello dell’argento, per ogni coppa d’argento;	17 Also, he distributed from the purest gold for the small hooks and the bowls and the censors, as well as for the little lions of gold, in accord with the precise measure of the weight, for lion after lion. Similarly too, for the lions of silver, he set aside a different weight of silver.
18 l’oro puro per l’altare dell’incenso aromatico, indicandone il peso; il modello del carro d’oro dei cherubini, che stendevano le ali e coprivano l’arca dell’alleanza del Signore.	18 Then, for the altar on which the incense was burned, he gave the purest gold. And from the same he made the likeness of the chariot of the Cherubim, with extended wings, which is veiling the ark of the covenant of the Lord.
19 Tutto ciò era contenuto in uno scritto di mano del Signore, che spiegava tutti i particolari del modello.	19 “All these things,” he said, “came to me written by the hand of the Lord, so that I would understand all the works of the pattern.”
20 Davide disse a Salomone, suo figlio: «Sii forte e coraggioso; mettiti al lavoro, non temere e non abbatterti, perché il Signore Dio, il mio Dio, è con te. Non ti lascerà e non ti abbandonerà finché tu non abbia terminato tutto il lavoro per il tempio del Signore.	20 David also said to his son Solomon: “Act manfully, and be strengthened, and carry it out. You should not be afraid, and you should not be dismayed. For the Lord my God will be with you, and he will not send you away, nor will he abandon you, until you have perfected the entire work of the ministry of the house of the Lord.
21 Ecco le classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti per ogni servizio del tempio di Dio; ci sono con te, in ogni lavoro, esperti in ogni attività. I capi e tutto il popolo sono ai tuoi ordini».	21 Behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for every ministry of the house of the Lord, are standing before you. And they have been prepared, and so they know, both the leaders and the people, how to carry out all your precepts.”
