1 In seguito Davide sconfisse i Filistei, li umiliò e prese Gat con le dipendenze dalle mani dei Filistei.	1 After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. From the grip of the Philistines he wrestedGath and its dependencies.
2 Quindi sconfisse Moab, e i Moabiti divennero sudditi e tributari di Davide.	2 He also defeated the Moabites; the Moabites became David's subjects and paid him tribute.
3 Davide sconfisse anche Adadèzer, re di Soba, verso Camat, nella sua marcia verso il fiume Eufrate per stabilirvi il suo dominio.	3 David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah, which lies in the direction of Hamath, when the lattermounted an expedition to assert his rule on the River Euphrates.
4 Davide gli prese mille carri, settemila cavalieri e ventimila fanti. Davide poi fece tagliare i garretti a tutti i cavalli, risparmiandone un centinaio.	4 David captured one thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiersfrom him; David hamstrung al the chariot teams, keeping only a hundred of them.
5 Gli Aramei di Damasco andarono in aiuto di Adadèzer, re di Soba, ma Davide uccise ventiduemila Aramei.	5 The Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer king of Zobah, but David kil ed twenty-two thousand of the Aramaeans.
6 Poi Davide pose guarnigioni nell’Aram di Damasco e gli Aramei divennero sudditi e tributari di Davide. Il Signore salvava Davide in ogni sua impresa.	6 David then imposed governors in Aram of Damascus, and the Aramaeans became David's subjectsand paid him tribute. Wherever David went, Yahweh gave him victory.
7 Davide prese ai servi di Adadèzer gli scudi d’oro e li portò a Gerusalemme.	7 David took the golden shields carried by Hadadezer's guards and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 Da Tibcat e da Cun, città di Adadèzer, Davide asportò una grande quantità di bronzo, con cui Salomone costruì il Mare di bronzo, le colonne e i vari arredi di bronzo.	8 From Tibhath and from Cun, towns belonging to Hadadezer, David captured a great quantity ofbronze, with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pil ars and the bronze implements.
9 Quando Tou, re di Camat, udì che Davide aveva sconfitto tutto l’esercito di Adadèzer, re di Soba,	9 When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
10 mandò al re Davide suo figlio Adoràm, per salutarlo e per benedirlo, perché aveva mosso guerra ad Adadèzer e l’aveva sconfitto; infatti Tou era sempre in guerra con Adadèzer. Adoràm gli portò vasi d’oro, d’argento e di bronzo.	10 he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him on having made war onHadadezer and on having defeated him, since Hadadezer was at war with Tou. He also sent al sorts of objectsmade of gold, silver and bronze,
11 Il re Davide consacrò anche quelli al Signore, insieme con l’argento e l’oro che aveva tolto a tutti gli altri popoli, agli Edomiti, ai Moabiti, agli Ammoniti, ai Filistei e agli Amaleciti.	11 which King David also consecrated to Yahweh, as wel as the silver and gold which he had leviedfrom al the nations, from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines and Amalek.
12 Abisài, figlio di Seruià, sconfisse nella valle del Sale diciottomila Edomiti.	12 Abishai son of Zeruiah defeated the Edomites in the Val ey of Salt -- eighteen thousand of them.
13 Stabilì guarnigioni in Edom e tutti gli Edomiti divennero sudditi di Davide. Il Signore salvava Davide in ogni sua impresa.	13 He stationed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David's subjects. Wherever Davidwent, Yahweh gave him victory.
14 Davide regnò su tutto Israele e rese giustizia con retti giudizi a tutto il suo popolo.	14 David ruled over all Israel, administering law and justice to al his people.
15 Ioab, figlio di Seruià, comandava l’esercito; Giòsafat, figlio di Achilùd, era archivista;	15 Joab son of Zeruiah was in command of the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was herald;
16 Sadoc, figlio di Achitùb, e Abimèlec, figlio di Ebiatàr, erano sacerdoti; Savsa era scriba;	16 Zadok son of Ahitub and Abiathar son of Ahimelech were priests; Shusha was secretary;
17 Benaià, figlio di Ioiadà, era capo dei Cretei e dei Peletei e i figli di Davide erano i primi al fianco del re.	17 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was in command of the Cherethites and Pelethites; David's sons took firstplace after the king.
