1 L’anno quattrocentoottantesimo dopo l’uscita degli Israeliti dalla terra d’Egitto, l’anno quarto del regno di Salomone su Israele, nel mese di Ziv, cioè nel secondo mese, egli dette inizio alla costruzione del tempio del Signore.	1 Then it happened that, in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel departed from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of the reign of Solomon over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, the house of the Lord began to be built.
2 Il tempio costruito dal re Salomone per il Signore aveva sessanta cubiti di lunghezza, venti di larghezza, trenta cubiti di altezza.	2 Now the house, which king Solomon was building to the Lord, was sixty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and thirty cubits in height.
3 Davanti all’aula del tempio vi era il vestibolo: era lungo venti cubiti, nel senso della larghezza del tempio, e profondo dieci cubiti davanti al tempio.	3 And a portico was before the temple, of twenty cubits in length, in accord with the measure of the width of the temple. And it had ten cubits of width before the face of the temple.
4 Fece nel tempio finestre con cornici e inferriate.	4 And he made oblique windows in the temple.
5 Contro il muro del tempio costruì all’intorno un edificio a piani, cioè intorno alle pareti del tempio, sia dell’aula sia del sacrario, e vi fece delle stanze.	5 And upon the wall of the temple, he built panels on all sides, in the walls of the house around the temple and the oracle. And he made side chambers all around.
6 Il piano inferiore era largo cinque cubiti, il piano di mezzo era largo sei cubiti e il terzo era largo sette cubiti, perché predispose delle rientranze tutt’intorno all’esterno del tempio in modo che non fossero intaccate le pareti del tempio.	6 The flooring on the bottom level held five cubits in width, and the middle floor was six cubits in width, and the third floor held seven cubits in width. Then he positioned beams on the house all around the outside, in such a way that they would not be fastened to the walls of the temple.
7 Per la costruzione del tempio venne usata pietra intatta di cava; durante i lavori nel tempio non si udirono martelli, piccone o altro arnese di ferro.	7 Now the house, while it was being built, was made from cut and finished stones. And so, neither mallet, nor chisel, nor any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was being built.
8 La porta del piano più basso era sul lato destro del tempio; attraverso una scala a chiocciola si saliva al piano di mezzo e dal piano di mezzo al terzo.	8 The door at the side of the middle section was to the right of the house. And they would ascend along winding stairs to the middle level, and from the middle level to the third level.
9 Dette inizio alla costruzione del tempio e la portò a termine, e coprì il tempio con assi e con travatura di cedro.	9 And he built the house, and finished it. And he overlaid the house with boards of cedar.
10 Costruì anche l’edificio a piani contro tutto il tempio, alto cinque cubiti per piano, che poggiava sul tempio con travi di cedro.	10 And he built a paneling over the entire house, five cubits in height, and he covered the house with cedar wood.
11 Fu rivolta a Salomone questa parola del Signore:	11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying:
12 «Riguardo al tempio che stai edificando, se camminerai secondo le mie leggi, se eseguirai le mie norme e osserverai tutti i miei comandi, camminando in essi, io confermerò a tuo favore la mia parola, quella che ho annunciato a Davide tuo padre.	12 “Concerning this house, which you are building: if you will walk in my precepts, and carry out my judgments, and keep all my commandments, advancing by them, I will confirm my word to you, which I spoke to your father David.
13 Io abiterò in mezzo agli Israeliti; non abbandonerò il mio popolo Israele».	13 And I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel.”
14 Salomone dette inizio alla costruzione del tempio e la portò a termine.	14 And so, Solomon built the house, and finished it.
15 Costruì i muri del tempio all’interno con tavole di cedro, dal pavimento del tempio fino ai muri di copertura; rivestì di legno la parte interna e inoltre rivestì con tavole di cipresso il pavimento del tempio.	15 And he built the walls of the house, on the interior, with panels of cedar, from the floor of the house, to the top of the walls, and even to the ceiling. He covered it with cedar wood on the interior. And he overlaid the floor of the house with panels of spruce.
16 Costruì i venti cubiti in fondo al tempio con tavole di cedro, dal pavimento fino ai muri; all’interno costruì il sacrario, cioè il Santo dei Santi.	16 And he built panels of cedar, of twenty cubits, at the back part of the temple, from the floor even to the top. And he made the inner house of the oracle as the Holy of Holies.
17 L’aula del tempio di fronte ad esso era di quaranta cubiti.	17 And the temple itself, before the doors of the oracle, was forty cubits.
18 Il legno di cedro all’interno della sala era scolpito con coloquìntidi e fiori in sboccio; tutto era di cedro e non si vedeva una pietra.	18 And the entire house was clothed with cedar on the interior, having its turnings and junctures artfully wrought, with carvings projecting outward. Everything was clothed with panels of cedar. And no stone at all was able to be seen in the wall.
19 Eresse il sacrario nel tempio, nella parte più interna, per collocarvi l’arca dell’alleanza del Signore.	19 Now he made the oracle in the middle of the house, in the inner part, so that he might station the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.
20 Il sacrario era lungo venti cubiti, largo venti cubiti e alto venti cubiti. Lo rivestì d’oro purissimo e vi eresse un altare di cedro.	20 And the oracle held twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height. And he covered and clothed it with the purest gold. Then, too, he clothed the altar in cedar.
21 Salomone rivestì l’interno della sala con oro purissimo e fece passare catene dorate davanti al sacrario che aveva rivestito d’oro.	21 Also, the house before the oracle, he covered with the purest gold, and he fastened the plates with nails of gold.
22 E d’oro fu rivestita tutta la sala in ogni parte, e rivestì d’oro anche l’intero altare che era nel sacrario.	22 And there was nothing in the temple that was not covered with gold. Moreover, the entire altar of the oracle he overlaid with gold.
23 Nel sacrario fece due cherubini di legno d’ulivo; la loro altezza era di dieci cubiti.	23 And he made in the oracle two cherubim from wood of the olive tree, of ten cubits in height.
24 L’ala di un cherubino era di cinque cubiti e di cinque cubiti era anche l’altra ala del cherubino; c’erano dieci cubiti da una estremità all’altra delle ali.	24 One wing of a cherub was five cubits, and the other wing of a cherub was five cubits, that is, having ten cubits from the summit of one wing even to the summit of the other wing.
25 Di dieci cubiti era l’altro cherubino; i due cherubini erano identici nella misura e nella forma.	25 Likewise, the second cherub was ten cubits. And the measure was equal and the work was one, in the two cherubim,
26 L’altezza di un cherubino era di dieci cubiti, e così anche il secondo cherubino.	26 that is, one cherub had a height of ten cubits, and similarly the second cherub.
27 Pose i cherubini nel mezzo della sala interna. Le ali dei cherubini erano spiegate: l’ala di uno toccava la parete e l’ala dell’altro toccava l’altra parete, mentre le loro ali che erano in mezzo alla sala si toccavano ala contro ala.	27 And he stationed the cherubim in the middle of the inner temple. And the cherubim extended their wings, and the wing of the one was touching the wall, and the wing of the second cherub was touching the other wall. But the other wings, in the middle of the temple, were touching each another.
28 Ricoprì d’oro anche i cherubini.	28 He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.
29 Ricoprì le pareti della sala tutto all’intorno con sculture incise di cherubini, di palme e di fiori in sboccio, all’interno e all’esterno.	29 And all the walls of the temple all around he engraved with diverse carvings and turnings. And he made in them cherubim, and palm trees, and various images, as if these were projecting out, and going forth from, the wall.
30 Ricoprì d’oro il pavimento della sala, all’interno e all’esterno.	30 Then, too, the floor of the house he overlaid with gold within and without.
31 Fece costruire la porta del sacrario con battenti di legno d’ulivo e profilo degli stipiti pentagonale.	31 And at the entrance of the oracle, he made little doors, from wood of the olive tree, with posts of five corners.
32 I due battenti erano di legno d’ulivo. Su di essi fece scolpire cherubini, palme e fiori in sboccio; li rivestì d’oro e stese lamine d’oro sui cherubini e sulle palme.	32 And there were two doors, from wood of the olive tree. And he carved upon them pictures of cherubim, and images of palm trees, and very prominent figures. And he overlaid these with gold. And he covered the cherubim, as well as the palm trees and the other things, with gold.
33 Allo stesso modo fece costruire nella porta dell’aula stipiti di legno d’ulivo a quadrangolo.	33 And he made, at the entrance of the temple, posts from wood of the olive tree, with four corners,
34 I due battenti erano di legno di cipresso; le due ante di un battente erano girevoli, come erano girevoli le imposte dell’altro battente.	34 and two doors, from wood of the spruce tree, on the other side. And each door was double, and so it opened by folding upon itself.
35 Vi fece scolpire cherubini, palme e fiori in sboccio, che rivestì d’oro aderente all’incisione.	35 And he carved cherubim, and palm trees, and very prominent engravings. And he covered everything with gold plates, worked to be perfectly square.
36 Costruì il muro del cortile interno con tre ordini di pietre squadrate e con un ordine di travi di cedro.	36 And he built the inner atrium with three rows of polished stones, and one row of cedar wood.
37 Nell’anno quarto, nel mese di Ziv, si gettarono le fondamenta del tempio del Signore.	37 In the fourth year, the house of the Lord was founded, in the month of Ziv.
38 Nell’anno undicesimo, nel mese di Bul, che è l’ottavo mese, fu terminato il tempio in tutte le sue parti e con tutto l’occorrente. Lo edificò in sette anni.	38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was perfected in all its works and in all its equipment. And he built it for seven years.
