1 Beato il marito di una donna virtuosa; il numero dei suoi giorni sarà doppio.	1 Happy the husband of a good wife, twice-lengthened are his days;
2 Una brava moglie è la gioia del marito, questi trascorrerà gli anni in pace.	2 A worthy wife brings joy to her husband, peaceful and full is his life.
3 Una donna virtuosa è una buona sorte, viene assegnata a chi teme il Signore.	3 A good wife is a generous gift bestowed upon him who fears the LORD;
4 Ricco o povero il cuore di lui ne gioisce, in ogni tempo il suo volto appare sereno.	4 Be he rich or poor, his heart is content, and a smile is ever on his face.
5 Tre cose teme il mio cuore, per la quarta sono spaventato: una calunnia diffusa in città, un tumulto di popolo e una falsa accusa: tutto questo è peggiore della morte;	5 There are three things at which my heart quakes, a fourth before which I quail: Though false charges in public, trial before all the people, and lying testimony are harder to bear than death,
6 ma crepacuore e lutto è una donna gelosa di un'altra e il flagello della sua lingua si lega con tutti.	6 A jealous wife is heartache and mourning and a scourging tongue like the other three.
7 Giogo di buoi sconnesso è una donna malvagia, colui che la domina è come chi acchiappa uno scorpione.	7 A bad wife is a chafing yoke; he who marries her seizes a scorpion.
8 Gran motivo di sdegno una donna ubriaca, non riuscirà a nascondere la vergogna.	8 A drunken wife arouses great anger, for she does not hide her shame.
9 La scostumatezza di una donna è nell'eccitazione degli sguardi, si riconosce dalle sue occhiate.	9 By her eyelids and her haughty stare an unchaste wife can be recognized.
10 Fa' buona guardia a una figlia libertina, perché non ne approfitti, se trova indulgenza.	10 Keep a strict watch over an unruly wife, lest, finding an opportunity, she make use of it;
11 Guàrdati dal seguire un occhio impudente, non meravigliarti se ti spinge verso il male.	11 Follow close if her eyes are bold, and be not surprised if she betrays you:
12 Come un viandante assetato apre la bocca e beve qualsiasi acqua a lui vicina, così essa siede davanti a ogni palo e apre a qualsiasi freccia la faretra.	12 As a thirsty traveler with eager mouth drinks from any water that he finds, So she settles down before every tent peg and opens her quiver for every arrow.
13 La grazia di una donna allieta il marito, la sua scienza gli rinvigorisce le ossa.	13 A gracious wife delights her husband, her thoughtfulness puts flesh on his bones;
14 È un dono del Signore una donna silenziosa, non c'è compenso per una donna educata.	14 A gift from the LORD is her governed speech, and her firm virtue is of surpassing worth.
15 Grazia su grazia è una donna pudica, non si può valutare il peso di un'anima modesta.	15 Choicest of blessings is a modest wife, priceless her chaste person.
16 Il sole risplende sulle montagne del Signore, la bellezza di una donna virtuosa adorna la sua casa.	16 Like the sun rising in the LORD'S heavens, the beauty of a virtuous wife is the radiance of her home.
17 Lampada che arde sul candelabro santo, così la bellezza del volto su giusta statura.	17 Like the light which shines above the holy lampstand, are her beauty of face and graceful figure.
18 Colonne d'oro su base d'argento, tali sono gambe graziose su solidi piedi.	18 Golden columns on silver bases are her shapely limbs and steady feet.
19 Due cose mi serrano il cuore, la terza mi provoca all'ira: un guerriero che languisca nella miseria, uomini saggi trattati con disprezzo, chi passa dalla giustizia al peccato; il Signore lo tiene pronto per la spada.	19 These two bring grief to my heart, and the third arouses my horror: A wealthy man reduced to want; illustrious men held in contempt; And the man who passes from justice to sin, for whom the LORD makes ready the sword.
20 A stento un commerciante sarà esente da colpe, un rivenditore non sarà immune dal peccato.	20 A merchant can hardly remain upright, nor a shopkeeper free from sin;
