| 1 Dappertutto s'intende dire che v’è tra voi un caso di impudicizia, e di impudicizia tale, che neppure si ha tra i pagani, a tal punto che uno convive con la moglie di suo padre. | 1 It is widely reported that there is sexual immorality among you, immorality of a kind that is not foundeven among gentiles: that one of you is living with his stepmother. |
| 2 E voi siete ancora gonfi d’orgoglio. Avreste invece dovuto piangere, onde venisse tolto di mezzo a voi chi ha commesso tale vergogna! | 2 And you so fil ed with your own self-importance! It would have been better if you had been grievingbitterly, so that the man who has done this thing were turned out of the community. |
| 3 Quanto a me, assente col corpo, ma presente con lo spirito, già ho giudicato come se fossi presente colui che ha agito così. | 3 For my part, however distant I am physical y, I am present in spirit and have already condemned theman who behaved in this way, just as though I were present in person. |
| 4 Quando, nel nome del Signore nostro Gesù, voi e il mio spirito saremo radunati insieme, sostenuti dal potere di Gesù nostro Signore, | 4 When you have gathered together in the name of our Lord Jesus, with the presence of my spirit, and inthe power of our Lord Jesus, |
| 5 costui sarà consegnato a Satana, affinchè la sua carne vada in rovina, ma la sua anima sia salva nel giorno del Signore. | 5 hand such a man over to Satan, to be destroyed as far as natural life is concerned, so that on the Dayof the Lord his spirit may be saved. |
| 6 Non è brillante questo vostro motivo di vanto! Non sapete che un po’ di lievito fa fermentare tutto l’impasto? | 6 Your self-satisfaction is il founded. Do you not realise that only a little yeast leavens the whole batch ofdough? |
| 7 Espellete il vecchio lievito, per essere un impasto nuovo come vi s’addice quali pani azzimi, dato che il nostro agnello pasquale, Cristo, è stato immolato. | 7 Throw out the old yeast so that you can be the fresh dough, unleavened as you are. For our Passoverhas been sacrificed, that is, Christ; |
| 8 Di conseguenza, festeggiamo la Pasqua non con vecchio lievito, nè col lievito della malizia e della perversità, ma con i pani azzimi, cioè in purezza e verità. | 8 let us keep the feast, then, with none of the old yeast and no leavening of evil and wickedness, but onlythe unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. |
| 9 Vi scrissi nella mia lettera di non aver rapporti con gli impudichi; | 9 In my letter, I wrote to you that you should have nothing to do with people living immoral lives. |
| 10 non però, in senso assoluto, con gli impudichi di questo mondo, o con gli avari e i ladri, o con gli idolatri, chè dovreste allora uscire dal mondo! | 10 I was not including everybody in this present world who is sexually immoral, or everybody who isgreedy, or dishonest or worships false gods -- that would mean you would have to cut yourselves off completelyfrom the world. |
| 11 Ma ora vi scrivo di non aver rapporti con chi, chiamandosi fratello, fosse un impudico, un avaro, un idolatra, un diffamatore, un ubriacone, un ladro; e di non mangiare neppure insieme con un simile individuo. | 11 In fact what I meant was that you were not to have anything to do with anyone going by the name ofbrother who is sexual y immoral, or is greedy, or worships false gods, or is a slanderer or a drunkard ordishonest; never even have a meal with anybody of that kind. |
| 12 Quanto a quei di fuori, non tocca a me giudicarli. Non sono forse quei di dentro che voi giudicate? | 12 It is no concern of mine to judge outsiders. It is for you to judge those who are inside, is it not? |
| 13 Quei di fuori, li giudicherà Iddio. Scacciate di mezzo a voi quel malvagio! | 13 But outsiders are for God to judge. You must banish this evil-doer from among you. |
